I walk an hour a day with my dog and I go to the gym 3-4 times per week so I am active but I am not losing any weight! I think it is all down to the diet though that is healthy too (in my opinion). I am stuck and frustrated and want to lose half a stone which I have gained over the last 18 months.

What about your clothes how do they fit? What type of exercise do you do? Walking is great to be fit but not to burn calories imo.

Yes it will if you also use it to log calories as well. It surprised me when I started doing it.

Watching with interest. I've been pondering one of these for a while.

I lost 3st and I wouldn't have done it without my fitbit blaze ;)

Wow charimito! That's amazing - it is just because it prompts you to do stuff? How did it help you?

I'm extremely competitive, so it was always a race against myself. So l, for example I went to. Mexico for Xmas and I decided I could indulge (a bit!) as long as I was burning 2300 calories a day. I also use it for running, so I can improve my distance / time / pace. The blaze also comes with 3 fitstar workouts which I do 4 times a week. Without those I'm sure I wouldn't have developed my biceps /abs as much as I have :)

Does a fitbit have a heart rate monitor?

Not all of them... Some do, some don't. The charge HR does. So does the blaze and the surge

Sorry, to answer the OP, as is clear I don't really know what a fitbit does, but it's only going to help you lose weight if it means you do more exercise and (more importantly) eat less. Walking is very good for you, but you need to do hours to burn off a cream bun!

@Emphasise yes there are studies about it. If you don't have the "right" personality for them, they actually don't help much. They also overestimate burnt calories but they do help at establishing trends. I'm a numbers person so that's drove me

How does it log calories? Do you need to know how many calories are in what you've eaten or does it work it out? How do you tell it what you've eaten?

Sorry OP, I have about 7lbs to lose too and have been considering a HRM to help with my running training. Am interested in whether a Fitbit might be the answer.

You log it (similar system. To. My fitness pal) but it so. Works it around your overall calorie expenditure

I've never used it for that as I found that logging calories is not very efficient for me..

charimito how does it help with running?

For basic running it's fine, but you'd need to buy the blaze to get GPS connectivity (done via your phone). It's other the most accurate for distance and it won't give you things like cadence. The Surge might but it's an old model due an upgrade. PS I now consider myself a runner above anything else and I'll probably switch to a garmin
