Hey!! So finally I'm fed up of being fed up about my weight! I've never really been slim yet before DS was born I was a perfect hourglass and a size 12! Oh how things have changed...

Anyway, I'm a totally out of my depth here and no amount of internet searches have helped... I'm more confused than I was before 😅

Does anyone know of any decent structured eating plans that are simple (I am often eating on the go bc of work) that doesn't cost too much. I love the idea of meetings like sw and ww yet pretty impossible with family life.

AFAIK you can do SW online? Do you have a local gym with a personal trainer option? Ours will give you meal plans.

A friend had lots of success with Janeplan...

I tried Janeplan but it tastes so horrible I couldn't eat it and they overcharged me when I returned most of it.

I lost nearly 3 stones with SW and didn't go to any meetings at all. I just brought the books off of eBay that you would get at your first meeting and it explains how it all works in there and has the syns of all types of food. I also didn't exercise but have recently started halfheartedly to try to lose the last few pounds. I'd recommend it Smile

My Fitness Pal set to lose 2lbs a week. Fill it in for the whole day each morning. It's free. Contains graphs. Barcode scanner recognises practically everything.

The 8 week blood sugar diet is great, you eat low carb high fat, so cut out all pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, flour and sugar. Eat full fat cheese, butter, milk, plain yoghurt and only eat 800 calories a day for 8 weeks. There's a book you can buy, web page and a Facebook help page. You aim to lose 10% of your weight within that 8 weeks. You eat basically Mediterranean style, I love it and have never felt so well, my 10% equated to 23lb and I have comfortably achieved that and lost 5 inches of my boobs, 6 off my waist and 5 off my hips dropping 2 dress sizes in 8 weeks!😄

Why is it hidden, and why can I see it?

I could try the blood sugar one I suppose, but 800 cals a day?! I'd have to pick my time carefully as well...

The blood sugar one sounds interesting and I can see the science behind it but I'm worried about long term/ manageable weight loss. It does sound great for that kick start though! Grin

Thank you!
You can do the diet for long term weight loss, you do the 8 weeks, have a break of 4 weeks where you stick to the low carb high fat principles but eat more calories and then you can do another round of 8 weeks at 800 calories. You carry on doing the rounds until you hit your goal weight and then gradually increase your calories until you hit a point where you don't lose weight and you don't gain it. That should be your calorie intake from there on in.

If I'm completely honest, I haven't stuck religiously to 800 cals a day, it's been between 800 & 1000. I am a complete convert, it is easy and tasty!

You don't have to do the 800 calories a day everyday if you don't want to.
There are 3 ways to do the diet, you can choose the one that suits you.
All of them follow the same food plan, ie cutting carbs, eating protein, vegs, good fats etc.

The first is 800 cals a day for 8 weeks, pretty tough but fast results.

The second is following the eating plan, but only restricting the calories to 800 twice a week, easier with slower weight loss.

The third is just following the food plan, while keeping portions sensible. Obviously the easiest, and most sustainable but slowest weight loss.

You can switch between the plans as you please, but I'm currently following the first one, then plan to move onto the second once the 8 weeks are up. I'm surprisingly only experiencing short periods of hunger, it's easier than I thought it would be.

If you want something structured, easy and free, join us on the low carb Bootcamp threads.

The next Bootcamp will start in mid-May, and will last for 10 weeks - but there's always an ongoing chat thread.
