Let's lose weight with a lifestyle change.

Right, I am fed up of looking like a telly tubby. I am 13st 3lbs and want to be 10st 3. So 3 stone to come off.

I hate diets. I have tried low carb, calorie counting, WW, SW, etc. So I think this needs to be a longterm change.

The plan is:
3 meals a day. Minimal snacks (just when hungry).
Max 2 non water drinks. Rest is water.
Reduce portion sizes. Increase protein, reduce carbs (I feel so much less bloated with fewer carbs).
Cut the crap. I want this to just be whilst I am losing weight as I think cutting any food group completely is not sustainable. However, I find once I start I can't stop.
Walk 10k steps per day (I have a fit Bit) and record food on fitbit app just to give me a picture of where I am going wrong.

Tumbleweed moment.

Just me then?

Well.ok.

So today I stuck to the above. I managed 10k steps easily which was a surprise. Ate 3 meals and no snacks but too much carbs.

I'm with SW

It's a lifestyle change more than a 'diet'

I only follow it loosely tho. I want to lose 2.5 stones. I've lost 1.5 so far

I need a lifestyle change too.

Am a serial starter, and cereal finisher.

Fucking depressing. 5 stones to lose...

How did you do your steps OP? Were they part of your day or did you have to go for a walk?

I recently rejoined SW and lost next to nothing in about six weeks, partly because of carb overload and partly because if find myself eating All The Chicken to try to not eat a small amount of chocolate.

So I think I'd probably do better if I binned SW and focussed on portion control/carb limiting/10k a day.

How fortuitous I found you! Grin

Try the No S diet OP. Completely changed my lifestyle. Have a read over on the weight loss topic - it's just common sense eating but it's never clicked for me until now.

Hi op I'm manipulating my carbs so heavy training days I get to eat porridge rice ect any other day I get my carbs from fruit veggies. Trying to fill up on low calorie veg, yesterday my salad was in a mixing bowl.

Oooh. People. How exciting? I am indeed not Billy no mates after all. Grin

notstoppedallday well done on the weight loss. I have a strange reactiin whenever I follow a plan or diet like SW. I self sabotage. No idea why.

stealtheating I hear you. I do a whole lot of eating which is most definitily not stealth like when it turns into fat.

ftw fortuitous indeed Grin. We were out all day but I normally find 10k doable if I avoid the sofa.

notstopped exercise? You and your crazy suggestions. Has no one told you? I am allergic to exercise. Its official and everything. Grin I will build up to it. Famous last words.

shoutout I will take a look, thank you.

user lowcal will form most of my carbs. I dont train though Blush

Me too! I've just tipped over the 14 stone mark...since October I've been on WW, then low carb, then SW and I'm actually 7 lbs higher than when I started. I had a few eat-y holidays in between but this has got to stop. I went into a spasm of self hate yesterday but have now decided to get a grip and the first thing I'm doing is chucking out all the eating plans. I too self sabotage but can make it fit within the 'guidelines' of unlimited fruit (WW), pasta (SW), cheese (LC) and then think I've stuck to plan and lose no weight. Well, screw you diet plans!! I've come to the conclusion that I've got to change my lifestyle in a authentic way and get back to the relatively toned 12st I was before I started 'dieting'.

I started yesterday, and I will cut out wine and only eat when hungry. I hope this doesn't sound gimmicky but I've been reading about the 16:8 diet in which you only eat within an 8 hour window, I tried it yesterday and it was an eye opener to realise that I usually eat just out of habit (or because it's on the 'approved' list).

Lucy, how is it going for you?

I'm not starting yet. Too many family trips for Easter - eating at other people's houses and I need to start it quietly and stick to it.

I love the idea of the S diet - that's basically what healthy people do.

I read this:

In 2 weeks you'll feel a difference
In 4 weeks you'll see a difference
In 8 weeks you'll hear a difference

Makes it seem manageable.

I'm mulling over writing down all the things I don't like about being so unfit/fat. So I can notice when they change.

Starting on Monda. One more week of hedonism...

Just a quick check in to say I am 2lbs down already. I didn't exactly stay on plan yesterday as I ate a krispy kreme but I did turn down cheesecake on Saturday Wink. I also walked for 5 miles yesterday.

I'm just checking in so this doesn't fall off my threads...

I'm with stealth but with a whole other week added - we're going to be staying with family for all of next week, which is not inviting success!

I've started trying to walk more though - walked the children to holiday club this morning, when I'd have normally driven and will walk to fetch them again later.

Trouble is, I get so sweaty from walking, I can't walk to places I'm going to be staying at... Ugh.

Well done on your 2lbs Lucy!

Oh I would like to join.

I started trying on summer clothes and none of last years fit or they look indecent due to bulging. A quick weigh in and I am a stone heavier than I was last summer. No idea how I managed quite that much, but it's got to go!
22k steps today, salad for lunch, soup for dinner and fruit as a snack.
Also tempted to start the 30 day shred as summer may be gone before I can wear shorts otherwise..... Confused

Great start with the 2 lbs! Lifestyle changes and taking it one day at a time are definitely working for me as well. I'm counting steps and keeping track of food/exercise with My Fitness Pal.

The weekend was an eye opener re: summer clothes, I couldn't find anything to wear. But I made an effort with hair and makeup and firmed up my resolve.

ftw I'm still laughing over your comment about eating 'all the chicken' rather than a bit of chocolate, that was so me on SW!
