Anyone done the 8 week blood sugar diet?

Am about to embark on Michael Mosley's 8 week blood sugar diet.

At my 'over 40 health check' I was told (not that I wasn't very aware!) that I needed to lose weight. Whilst I'm not pre-diabetic the HCA said the practice were recommending this diet.

I've made an appt with my GP surgery at the end of the month for a weigh in (they will weigh me every week) and I plan on starting 01 March.

Has anyone done this diet and how good is it? Reading the book, I can see the idea is 800 calories a day for the first part. And it sounds very daunting. Confused

I've probably got 4 stone to loose and I definitely need to see quick results because I cave far too soon if things start tapering off.

Any thoughts or advice most welcome...

800 calories seems unreasonable

It is very low Lisa. And I did a low cal diet before which was hard going. Not sure why thus would be so different but I've heard good things. And Dr is recommending it.

LisaAlexander - have you read the book? Or read any of the science behind it? It's a proven method of preventing pre-diabetics going on to develop full blown diabetes, and has helped Type 2 diabetics to reverse their condition.

I've done it. Full 8 weeks and about 3 stone off.

Since then I went up to 1200 cals using My Fitness Pal and have lost 1.5 more.

Blood sugar at safe levels, bp down, sleeping better and able to run after 4 year old with ease.

Good luck!

Posted too early in my excitement! I meant to day that of been a stone lighter than this, but could get nothing to look good on me as I was so apple shape d. Now I look in proportion. This diet is magic.

I am encouraged to do this too! My Gp also recommended it.

I've just ordered the books
I have 1 stone to lose so I'm not sure which way to do this diet.
My DH just needs to lose his belly but not lose actual weight if that makes sense.
