Need to lose 2 stone (at least)

I have no idea how it's gotten this bad. I had a baby almost 7 months ago and I'm still 2 stone overweight. It's awful, I hardly have any pictures of me with my baby as I'm so disgustingly fat.
I have no time to exercise except walking with the pram so really it's just all down to eating.
I'm 5"4 and a size 12, ideally for my frame I should be a size 8/10 but would be happy to get back into my size 10 jeans.
Anyone else in a similar situation that would like to swap tips? My meal plan for tomorrow is;

Breakfast: Porridge with semi skimmed milk
Snack: Apple
Lunch: leek & potato soup
Snack: carrot sticks & hummus
Dinner: Beans on wholemeal toast with a small amount of cheese

I think that comes to around 1200 calories but sounds quite filling? I don't have time to make a better dinner as husband will be out and I also have my 2yo nephew to look after so thought that was the easiest, healthy thing to make.

I'll join you. I'm same height with roughly the same amount to lose. I decided to start tomorrow, now half-term is over.

I really want to lose 2lb per week for 10-12 weeks and then maintain.
My plan is to eat loads of raw veg and veg soups, as I love veg and they are filling and low in calories. Cutting out all alcohol, sugar and refined carbs. But like you, I'm keeping up the complex carbs (beans, wholemeal bread etc) as low carb really doesn't work for me and I want a healthy eating plan I can stick to.

Tomorrow
Shredded wheat with skimmed milk and half a banana
Veg soup and salad
Dinner...not decided. Need to find some recipes that work for a short chubby woman trying to lose weight and two teenage beanpoles and a six foot man who don't need to lose anything!

Are you adding any exercise plan?

I'll join, I'm aiming to lose 2 stone, I started 7th Feb logging all my food with the app My Fitness Plan. So far I've lost 5lbs, I don't meal plan until the morning but I bought a exercise bike and so far I've been going on that at night while I watch the soaps.

Ok I'm in too. 2 stone would be a good aim for me. I'm fed up of feeling fat. I need to focus and just bloody do it.
Plan tomorrow
Breakfast small bowl sultana bran with milk
Coffee - prob a skinny flat white
Lunch- ham salad
Dinner - will also be beans on toast.

I would hardly call you disgustingly fat. Maybe a bit over weight. But your hardly obese. Be a little kinder to yourself. You've just had a baby.

You really aren't disgustingly fat. Maybe add some hiit into your exercise regime. Look for the Body Coach or Fitness Blender on YouTube. Drink lots of water as I used to find sometimes when I thought I was hungry I actually needed a drink. Also the Lean in cookery books have really easy healthy meals to cook.

I'm in. A bit taller but bigger than you. I have lost this weight before but put it back on. So angry with myself and feel awful. Just got out the bath as I could not bear to look at myself, I am too appalled at what I have done. Did run today but need to start eating better again tomorrow. Find exercise so hard with FT work, dc and a husband who works shifts. I know I must though! Think i am going to have to make myself do stuff at home for eve I can't get out (dh working those weeks).

I agree with the water. I need to drink more. Will start logging on my fitbit.

I'm in!
5.3
10st 9 size 12/14
I want to get back to a size 10 at about 9 st which has gotten further away since having ds 3 years ago!
I've joined the gym this weekend and am planning on doing cardio, strength and some classes. Going to aim to go 5/6 times a week. I'm going to stick to 1200 cal a day and hopefully lose 1-2 pounds a day while toning up!
Day one was today. I ate:
Breakfast: 2weetabix and raisins
Lunch: salad
Tea: jacket potato,beans and salad
I'm using myfitness pal to log calories so I can squeeze in a weekly treat tea!

Exercise: 30mins cardio+30mins strength

Very pleased with day 1! I'm determined to not spend summer covered up in cardigans again!
I have booked ds into he gym crèche tomorrow and will be attending a step and stretch class solo!

Count me in, am 5'2" and have shot up to 11st4lb. I was 9st11 this time last year, was still overweight but now I'm monstrous! Can't believe I've done this to myself, I feel horrible, am always out of breath and too knackered just hauling myself around all day to do much proper exercise. Hardly any clothes fit me, I live in leggings and tunics and get a shock every time I look in the mirror!

Have just made a fruit/porridge oats/Greek yoghurt concoction for breakfast tomorrow, soup for lunch and salmon, sweet potato and broccoli for dinner, plus fruit for snacks.

Thanks for the prompt duckie, just disappeared off to make fruit oats thing too. I find that if I start well, I stand a better chance. A crap breakfast means I start to think that I may as well not bother!

Good morning everyone!

Well it wasn't a good night, ds was up quite a few times as he is blocked up but I'm not going to use tiredness as an excuse anymore. He's having a bottle just now then I will have my porridge and give him his banana to chomp on. I'm planning to go for a power walk / jog with the pram about 9.30 to coincide with his nap. Can anyone think of any other exercise I can realistically do with a baby? I go to yoga with him and swimming but it's not much exercise for me. Also have my 2yo nephew for dinner, bath & PJs 3 times a week so not many evenings to do anything.

halleluja I will look up some exercise things on YouTube as you suggested. Maybe there's something I can do in the house for a short time every morning.

There's a good 30 mins body combat on you tube I do.
I'm feeling motivated this morning. Although realistically I'm aiming for 80/20 approach as this works for me

Thanks grump - I'm determined as well!
Is that 80% food and 20% exercise?

Hiit is brilliant and slightly addictive. I did couch to 5k too and got a bit addicted to running..

I am the biggest I have ever been and I am sick of it.

I have put on about 2,5 stone since the perimenopause started 4 years ago. I have had a few periods in my life where I have been a size 14, but even size 14 is tight now.

I already do a lot of exercise- I aim to go to the gym for an hour 4 times a week. I do Zumba, circuits and HIIT classes as well as cardiovascular on the crosstrainer.

I have a lot going on at the moment and am finding it difficult to prioritise weight loss, but I really do have to do something. I'm 5 foot 2 and look like a blimp! All my lovely clothes are in the loft. I too am shocked at what I see in the mirror. I have started to think I see my mother wearing my clothes!!!

Well I feel energised after my jog/walk and shower. Going to parent & baby cinema so can't have soup for lunch. Thinking of making 2 hard boiled eggs to take with oatcakes and an apple... the cinema is usually empty but worried the eggs might be a bit antisocial Blush

Well done mummy! Have you tried any exercise videos on you tube or dvds? Jillian Michaels ones are really good and only last 20mins although are very intense! I did the 30day shred once (although took closer to 60 days to complete!) it was motivating getting stronger over time and my jeans were looser! Ds is a bit older so I'm leaving him in the gym crèche for an hour while I work out. He Loves it and doesn't want to leave! Loves it more than nursery actually. Hmm I'm trying to walk a bit more too, especially the school run.
Today I chickened out of my class as everyone seemed to know each other so I did an hour in the gym just focusing on cardio so 20mins on treadmill, 15 on bike,10 on rower , and 10 on cross trainer. Went ok and I'm pleased I went! The exercise stops me snacking on rubbish too as I don't want my effort to be for nothing!
Like a pp said weight loss is something like 80 food intake/ 20 exercise but I'm really wanting to tone up too and build my general strength and fitness. I'm currently on AD and beta blockers for anxiety and I want to come off them. My mood has lifted more in the couple of days since I've been going to the gym than for a long time. Another benefit is I came home and cleaned the house and prepared a veggie chilli for tea with the last of my energy! Normally would lounge about all day then rush it all later!

HIIT video workouts are good with small children, as there are loads that are only 8 mins long and they really work. I saw a friend recently who looked like she'd halved in weight and she said it was down to 8 mins HIIT a day.

And might appeal (or you might think she's totally mad!) Grin

Start weight: 11 stone 3lbs
Exercise today: walked 7k already and plan to walk 4k more plus do a zumba class tonight.

Veggie pasta for tea.
MFP reckons that's the equivalent of eating less than 400 calories in a day due to the exercise. Never sure whether their methods of working this out are that reliable.

Afternoon all! It's the end of the month for me, so lunches are pretty rubbish. No brekkie, tin of Heinz mulligatawny soup, two plums and a banana so far. Will walk home (30 mins) then have a lentil curry. I might even go for a "run" round the park later (fast walk with podcast on) if I get away from work on time. We'll see. The hardest thing about exercise is fitting it in.... Hmm

I don't really trust MFP exercise calories (or the ones on the machines!)! I do log them but don't eat them back. Still useful as motivation though (and a guilt free treat meal!).
I'm really going to prioritise exercise for 3 months and then hopefully I will be in a much better place fitness and weight wise and can maybe slow it down a bit to maintain. I keep telling myself in 3 months my jeans will fit!! Hopefully sooner Grin

Roll on May half term!!

Had a brilliant first day. Which might seem normal for lots of people but my attempts at dieting usually last about 3 hours (really) and the most I've ever managed since having DC is 4-10 days.

Walked for 90 mins - about 10-11k and did a zumba class.

Good on you op. I weighed myself a few weeks ago and was shocked! I knew I'd put on weight but was nearly a stone heavier than my estimate! I love food so much and sometimes it feels like my only pleasure. I have upped the exercise and am trying to do 3 meals a day and no snacking. I do feel hungry but I think that's my body being so used to over eating. Good luck everyone. Keep motivated! I'm looking at this as getting healthy so I'm not an overweight middle aged woman with diabetes (family history). Dropping a dress size would also be wonderful. Smile.
