C25k anyone?

I'm starting tomorrow. And if a blimp like me can get further than day one, anyone can! 😂

I'm a pretty good walker. I can walk for miles. But I never tried running before

I'll be following a route I know, as running with a white cane may be a bit, um, hard...I want to run, not pole vault!

Anyone out there just started? About to start? Or just want to ask me whether I'm on glue for even attempting this?

I did it, the Zombies Run version. It is the best thing I ever did. When I started I was 23st 7lb and couldn't run for a whole minute. This May will be two years on from the date I started, I now weigh 15st 11lb (still working on it) and can run a very, very slow 10k. I run regularly and really enjoy it.

Good luck with it, you just need to stick to it and you will be fine.

Wow! Did you change your diet etc? Or was the weight loss just through running?

I could be persuaded, yes! I've all the gear. Still with labels on... What time are we off?

My diet has been very hit and miss and it is something I struggle with. With regard to exercise I joined the gym, do the running and use FitBit to walk the recommended amount of steps a day and I am fairly consistent with that.

My diet on the other hand can be rather hit and miss, there have been times I have been really good and times I have completely messed up on it and gained weight but the aim has always been to have a better diet. At the moment I am using a virtual gastric band app (Easy Loss Virtual Gastric Band) and that has made the biggest difference to my diet. I have lost 17lbs since January 8th and I feel it has really changed my eating patterns.

I aim to nip out as soon as the DC's leave for school in the morning...sports bra and sneakers dusted off all out ready!

As an incentive for sticking to it, I've decided to "reward myself" for mini achievements-so, when I've clocked up, say, an hour's jogging in total (adding up all the workouts) I'll get myself a new pair of leggings to run in, etc.

Lilicat Im DYING to try that virtual gastric diet, but I have to be so careful not to trigger my old binge/starve cycle again.

I've just found this. I work better in miles than kms, so it's imperial, but it has a breakdown of what to expect.

Good luck on your run, I'm sure you will have a great time. The rewards sound like a great idea, it is nice to have something to work towards.

I'm not sure how the virtual gastric band would work with binge/starve cycles. It doesn't advocate any particular type of diet or any restrictions, it encourages you to eat slowly, drink water and leave your food if you are full. Personally I have just felt less hungry on it. I can understand being wary though if you think I might lead you back to an unhealthy path. The creators of the app are very involved in the Facebook group for it though so you could ask them how it might work in your situation.

It's nice to see new people getting started, running has been such a life changing activity for me I hope every can enjoy it as much.

Hooray! Was about to go all guns blazing this weekend and I put my back out on Friday. Ffs.

I'll join you virtually til I can. X

Troopers ouch! Don't you DARE join in physically till you're well enough! Hopefully, by the time you take your first walk/run, there will be enough of us to pop your blisters guide you through the first week.

Is anyone bothered about a weigh in? Or are we just doing it for fitness? I need to lose a shitload, but that's not my main goal.

Oops...posted too soon. The route I'm taking goes past my local tesco (about 100 yards in). As I've thrown away my scales (fuck off, voice! If anyone has an ED they'll know what I mean!) I'm going to add a weekly weigh in on the scales in there.

Good luck Orange. I did C25k in the late summer last year. I'm now running at least 20k a week. I love it. The NHS app is brilliant to get you started.

soupmaker I downloaded the orange one. Dumbass question, but...if I play my music over it (a must!) will I have to keep checking my phone? Or will it be like the satnav thingy, and overide my music with it's announcements?

Hello! I'd like to join in please. I have started C25K before with two other people but it tailed off quickly. I'm going to do it myself and stick to it! Wink. I will either start tonight or tomorrow night.

I'd like to lose about three stone so I need to massively overhaul eating habits too.

God it feels weird being called "Orange"...I was PopGoesTheFuckingWeasel until yesterday- aka Pop. I name changed for the woolly hugs thread- they know all about my obsession with the color orange! 😂

I will. Although I'm looking out of the window at the rain and thinking 'Hmmm; maybe not tonight!' It's this lack of willpower that's made me fat Wink.

I hear you. We can keep each other motivated if you like. I'll struggle in the mornings. But with it being half term next week, mornings will be the only time I can do it.

Anyone on mfp? I'm logging the walking/jogging, and if it helps, I can post the total walk/jog times of each day so it's easy to log.

I am IN! We're just getting over three weeks worth of colds/vomiting bugs/other various disgustingness, but I will be out for my first run this week. I'll check in later when I've weighed myself (I'm going to weigh myself and measure waist, thighs etc and then I'll have an idea what my goal is). I reckon 2st. My diet is shocking, but I am putting off TTC DC3 until I've shed a bit of weight and feel a bit better about myself.
