Hi everyone

I am looking to go back or as close as i can to my pre pregnancy weight my youngest is a year old now and im up 1.5 stone from pre pregnancy. The weight is mainly all on my stomach, hips, bum and thighs although i have increased cup size on my boobs from a c to a dd.

I am 5ft and currently weigh 8.2 stone 52.2 kg i am looking to be between 7-7.5 stone. I already have a very balanced and healthy diet and i have very little sugar in my diet. I dont do much excercise as i do have 3 little ones 4,3 and 1 years old.

Can any recommend any tips or techniques to help me along my way. I go on holiday at the end of june so ideally would like to be at my goal weight by then.

Thanks all

Hi
Why don't you try slimming world. Extra Easy or Speed and Protein plans are meant to be good. I would say you do not have much to lose and therefore it will be easier for you to follow especially as you have young children to look after and run around. Check out inspirational vloggers on YouTube! Good luck

Try the my fitness pal app.

Is free and really easy.

Is not so much about what you eat as the overall quantity/amount of extra calories you're eating. MFP lets you log it really easily.

I've done no exercise really, but just eating less has meant I've lost over 2 stone.

No meetings, no restricted foods.

I end up eating better because I know an apple has a lot less calories than biscuits so I choose that. ..sometimes
:)

I don't feel like I'm missing out or "on a diet".

Can you tell I kind of love it. Grin

There are threads on here for support and advice too.

My fitness pal app is very useful. I seem to be learning a lot more about food now!

I’m 5 feet 1, weigh 8.1 stones and my fat mass index is currently 16.5 % which puts me in the athlete category. I have spent the last 5 months eating clean and exercising at home. Instead of trying to lose weight, I’m working on losing the fat by "converting" it into muscle. I don’t really want to look bulky or chunky, but to appear leaner and more toned up.

You’re definitely doing all the right things in terms of eating healthily.
The past 4-6 months I did a combination of Kayla Itsines programme and HIIT workouts which works well for me, so far. This is what I've been doing every week:

  • 3x resistance training (only 30 mins each) by Kayla on Mon, Wed and Fri
  • 2x HIIT sessions (20 or 25 mins) by watching Body Coach on YouTube on Tues and Thurs (or Sat)
  • A 5K jog or run every other week (can you leave your children with partner?)

I exercise at home with my children around, so there’s no need to join the gym. Buy a few fitness equipment e.g. dumbbells, medicine ball, a step. I joined online communities like Body Coach forum for inspiration and support. I googled online and found both BBG 1.0 and BBG 2.0 so I printed off the PDF copy and put them into plastic display folder book. No need to pay for the app. At first I found it so hard to stay motivated but seeing the results, keeps me motivated. My weight has remained about the same since starting (because I’m gaining muscle) and yet I've been told I definitely look a lot leaner and slimmer.

By June you should see a more toned up body. Yes it is possible, and you can do all this from home.

Thanks so much for the info layercake9 you seem so fitness savvy compared to me. Yes i could leave my children with my husband but running/jogging are a nono for me i have arthritis in my verterbrae and corroded discs and also i have no cartlidge in my knees (i need a knee replacement but the consultant wants to hold off for a couple of years because they need to be replaced every 10 yrs). I also have arrhritis in my shoulders making lifting weighrs difficult for me.

Does anyone have any idea of low impact excercises to get rid of my post baby flab?

Ah I didn't realise rhuhbarb about your condition. There are some good low impact exercise you can try. Hot yoga or pilates are gentle yet focuses on tensing your muscles. I'm not a fan of Geri Halliwell but a while ago she looked so fit from doing yoga.

Or try some of those stretchy resistance bands for slow and gentle no impact exercises. There's plenty of low impact resistance band workout videos online.

For the tummy you can try planking every day. I try do it whilst watching TV! It doesn't involve bending your knees or any impact. Just a few minutes in the morning and again in the evening. Not sure if you're strong enough to do it, maybe you can put some cushions under your knees?

HIIT workouts burn fat fast and the key is having the correct intervals e.g. very intense workout followed by rest period and then repeat this several times. Instead of doing a HIIT, replace it with low impact activity like the interval walking workout which actually burns fat faster than just walking continuously for 30 minutes at the same pace. There's a lot of resources online as to why interval workouts (whether low impact or high impact) is effective in weight loss.

This is a good interval walking plan for weight loss: www.fitnessmagazine.com/workout/cardio/walking/walking-for-weight-loss-plan/

I've been monitoring to see if my daily activities burns more calories than the calories I eat using the My Fitness Pal - it's rather fascinating!

I also do a 3-day or 5-day juice occasionally but not 100%. I'd juice all day but still have a proper meal in the evening. I keep lots of kilner jars to store juice in the fridge - max 48 hours though. Not if you're bf and if it affects it though. The most popular plan is Jason Vale's Lose 7 pounds in 7 days.

To be honest you sound v similar in weight and height to me. People tell me I'm in good shape so I think you've got a great starting point and just need to make some small adjustments to your routine to fit in exercises/activities and keep it consistent.

Apologies i didnt put it in my first post. Wow thanks for all that information layercake9 it is brilliant i will definitely start adding some of those routines to my list. The myfitnesspal is great i have used it for 2 days now and it is really helping me to stay on track. You are like my personal trainer! All i need now is to buy some scales to see if the weight is coming off and then think of a quick fix for my 'mothers apron'!
