Countdown to Christmas - The Sequel: Mince Pies Begone!

Here is a new thread for the lovely ladies who were such a supportive group in the run-up to Christmas, so that we can all get rid of that turkey tummy and continue on the path to glory!
New members very welcome indeed. We could really do with raising the tone after the unhappy episode of the Aldi killer biscuits and the wonky nipples discussion.

How are you all doing it are u following a certain diet or just looking to cut down a bit. I feel so gross at the minute I feel like a pig in a wig!

i'll be sticking close to 1200-1500 calories a day and doing a daily uphill hike (10,000 steps)
however right now it is too cold to hike :( or do anything outdoors for that matter.

brill thanks for the new thread!!

Hello user and out nice to see you over here!

I'm using MFP to calorie count and have been doing slimming world since the birth of my youngest dd, seems to be working for me I started off at 10st7 on 27th Oct, I'm now 9st 7lb (managed to get off that 2lb xmas gain and loose another 1lb thank god!). Still have 7lb to go which I would like to get off by my bday in March if I can if not then def by May as me and my dh are on holiday for a week.

Brill how is it going?

Hope Tractors Horace and Dowser* find their way over here, be good to continue this journey!

Welcome user and out!
I'm still carrying 2lbs from Christmas but hoping to shed that quickly.
I've got into a reasonably good rhythm of porridge or poached eggs for breakfast, salad with lots of veg for lunch and then a calorie-counted cooked meal at dinner with extra carbs for the boys. Wine is my downfall though.

I'm embarrassed by how much I have to loose! I was a skinny mini before I had my girls and I have no excuse my youngest is 1 tomorrow and I'm nearly as heavy I was the week I had her Shock my problem is my sweet tooth and if I get hungry I won't be sensible and pick up a pear and I will stick my face in a pack of biscuits instead! But not any more I'm determined this time! Well done *Ron on your weight loss sounds like your all doing fab!

Sorry I'm an absolute idiot when it comes to technical things and have no idea how to make it turn to bold!

No problem user and thank you, it was hard going the first couple of weeks and then it became easier.. and now I'm in the zone I feel guilty if I don't log my calories straight away or have a bad day! Smile

I'm still having one night at the weekend to have a couple of glasses of wine but that's it for the week and I think that's prob the main reason for me losing weight... wine is my downfall!

My youngest is 18months so don't worry I didn't really follow anything strictly until this Aug, after I saw some pics of me on holiday and it was truely horrific so that's what spurned me on to really stick to SW and start MFP and that combo seems to suit me!

Weighed in this morning and am only 1lb off my pre-Christmas best!
Off to mother's birthday lunch today though so will need to stay off the cake.
How is everyone doing this weekend?

Hi all! I've been posting on the 100lbs+ thread, but I'll pop in here too, if no-one minds?

I had a realisation over the festive period that looking at the build/type of the rest of my family, I really have no excuse and should be far smaller than I am. Being a bossy person, I actually made my sister (similar height/bone structure etc) hop on the scales and I'm now aiming for her weight (sensible, low-mid range of BMI). I'm back on low-carbing, and Dry January, so hoping the scales keep shifting in the right direction Grin

Tractors yay you found us!

Hope you had a lovely xmas and new year?!

Brill well done, that's fab going! Hope you avoided the cake!

It was my fil's bday today so we had a pretty hefty lunch out with some wine but I have been good all week so hoping it won't make too much difference on the scales!

A slice of cake, a vegan brownie, and three macaroons. Not my finest hour.

I also had a cake related fall off the wagon yesterday as it was my DD first birthday! Promised myself I would be good but somehow I cupcake and a slice of birthday cake managed to fall in my mouth!

It is extraordinary how it happens, isn't it! Good today so far, with porridge for breakfast and a granola bar for lunch, plus a dried apricot and a handful of raisins. Working at home so the boredom is something shocking.

Can I join please? I wasn't part of your pre-Christmas thread, but I've just stepped onto the scales and the numbers tell the same story as the waistband on my jeans. Blush

I can't believe that I've managed to gain about half a stone in a month. Actually, probably not even a month Shock. I ate quite sensibly, while still enjoying myself, in the run-up to Christmas, but somehow between Dec 22nd and Jan 9th I've practically eaten my way out of my clothes!!

I want to be back where I was pre-Christmas by the end of this school half term, so five weeks. I cycle to work, and after three weeks off I'm getting back on the bike. Doesn't burn masses of calories, but seems to put a brake on my munching. The Christmas goodies are all but gone from the house (yep, in my belly, clearly) so sensible, healthy eating is the plan. Cake just falls into my mouth too user.

Nice to have some companions

I was on the first thread then got I'll so couldn't exercise which leads to binging and drinking too much.

I have 50lb to loose. I will do it this year.

I'm back on the low carb wagon, cutting down on drinks, cutting out my pepsi habit and aiming for 12000 (at least) steps per day.

Shred and Davina need to make a comeback until Im allowed back to boot camp class (doc says no).

Food today -

B - coconut yogurt with blueberries and chia seeds
L - roast beef, tomatoes and pork scratchings

Tea will be pork and mushrooms with low carb rice.

Had too many cups of tea, will switch to herbal / green now. And drink some water. Need to up the water.

Painting the kitchen tonight so that will cut down on the nibbling and wine.

Will also cook some low carb sausages for breakfast tomorrow and do a proper shop to arrive this week too.

Glen welcome back! And hello work as Brill says it's nice to have some new peeps!

I have just eaten a Belgian bun.. I'm cross at myself... Angry I'm still under calories for the day but those things are sooooo fattening, will have to make sure I'm good the rest of the week and no more slips as I would like to see the scales going down a touch by the end of the week...

BrillianaHarvey · 09/01/2017 20:59

Ron you have done so well you can afford a bun!
Tomato curry tonight with rice for the boys. Getting back into this...

Thanks brill I know in the grand scheme of things it won't matter but I'm hoping to get this last 7lb off asap then I can get my head around maintenance... eating buns won't help me do this quickly! But onwards and upwards, new day tomorrow and I shall be good the rest of the week and hope by fri I may see a slight decrease in the scales.. and tomato curry sounds yum!

Don't worry about the bun Ron I think I treat now and again is OK especially when you are so close to target it means it's more long term I guess. My day hasn't been too bad missed breakfast and lunch (not great I know) I've cracked my pelvis so going to home for a week or two really hard not to eat shit all day long but managed a sensible day of turkey steak salad some SW chips even though I'm not technically on SW and two hard boiled eggs. I also had a pink and white water oooops!

So sorry about your pelvis, •user*! Sounds really horrid.
Back to pre-Christmas weight today - yay!
Three pounds off original target. But I think I'll aim for half a stone and take stock then.

Ouch to cracked pelvis, hope you are on the mend soon.

Ron, part of dieting successfully is being able to have to odd bun and not eat the whole box of fancies followed by a huge bag of crisps and nutella right from the jar (my previous Christmas binge).

A good day so far today. Only 600 steps away from 10000 steps and food has been ok.

B - yogurt and blueberries
L - serano ham, cucumber, tomatoes and pork scratchings
Tea will be Bolognese (no pasta).

4 cups of tea, about to switch to herbal for the rest of the day.

Really bad sugar cravings, but I'm not giving in. I know if I get to the weekend that I'll crack it so just need to ride it out.
