Slim fast? Anyone?

StewardsEnquiry · 06/01/2017 15:12

I'm doing Slimfast. Probably only for a few weeks to give me a quick boost to weight loss, before I go on to my usual calorie counting.

I have done 4 days and lost 4lb so far. Around 2 stone to lose in total.

Anyone else?

I'm kind of going to do it, though not strictly sticking to the 2 shakes + 1 low calorie meal. Vanilla shake will be my dinner meal.
Breakfast will be something high protein, lunch will be something like salad/sushi/soup and fruit as snacks. I start tomorrow!

Great!

I ordered a week's worth in a box from Amazon. The plan allows three snacks of 100 calories, 2 of their shakes or meal bars and one 600 calorie meal so not as strict as it used to be.

I haven't been too hungry so far and massively spurred on by the quick weight loss so far.

I'm having home made prawn curry tonight with rice which I have worked out is about 550 calories for my portion. Earlier I had a chocolate shake for breakfast, an apple for snack, a chocolate meal bar for lunch and slim fast pretzels for snack.

Actually looking forward to weighing myself in the morning!

I'm safely through the weekend. I have stuck to the plan more or less, of one real food meal, two SF meals and three snacks although my weekend meals were probably a bit more than 600cal. I plan to weigh in on Wednesday.

I'm buying slim fast tomorrow. I need to lose about a stone by the start of February. Will also be trying to get on the Insanity programme to get fit! What sort of meals are you eating for the 600 cals meals? Smile

I am a bit lazy with menu planning so I get Hello Fresh boxes each week. The majority of the recipes come in at 400-600 Cals per portion so if they are a bit over I just serve DH more and me a bit less. 600cal is plenty for a nice evening dinner with protein, veg and a bit of carb. I usually use the third 100cal snack for a couple of squares of chocolate after dinner.

I depressed myself at weigh in Grin

So I'm sulking, but it's very motivating and I'm on task so far (only five hours in!) Smile

I've started. Did shakes for breakfast and lunch yesterday. Breakfast and lunch again today. For tea yesterday had broccoli, cauliflower and rice with soy sauce (leftovers basically!) Tonight is beef stew and spinach for tea. Can't wait! How's everyone else getting on?

Not weighed yet so not sure on results so far but I am sticking to it pretty well. I tend to have a shake for breakfast and a bar for lunch, plus the snacks. I just had my lunch bar which is a bit early - it's going to be a long afternoon!

The Strawberry shakes(which I had for breakfast today) are really not the best! I prefer the cafe latte ones more but I bought a variety pack so I have few different types to try.

My tummy does feel flatter though and I am not constipated which I was a bit worried about!

Can I join please? I've just been and bought the stuff I need and will be starting tomorrow. I think I'll find it easier to have shakes for breakfast and lunch and then something proper (but healthy) for tea. I have around 4.5 stone to lose in total and I'm determined this year will be the one that ends with me being a size 8-10 instead of struggling to fit into a 16!

I've majorly fucked up and run of painkillers on the second day. Really poor planning.

I've just eaten six apples back to back and am still in a foul mood. Might try gnawing my own arm next Smile

Do you all make the shakes from the powder or buy the ready made ones?

Report
StewardsEnquiry · 11/01/2017 18:13

I just have the ready made ones but I know it will be more economical to make up the powder ones. However, convenience is a major factor for me sticking to something so the ready made ones are obviously the best in that respect. I also have the meal bars for a change some days.

I'm glad you said that. I did also get a tin of the powdered stuff but making it easy (especially at the start) does seem to make it less painful Smile

Well I weighed in. 4lb off in just under 2 weeks so pretty pleased with that. It hasn't been too hard either. Few tummy gurgles occasionally but not feeling desperate to eat. My plan is to continue with this for now and lose as much as possible then switch to calorie counting when I get bored.

I need to think more carefully about maintaining this time too. I lost loads of weight last year then took my eye off the ball and gained lots back. I'm a classic yoyo dieter but it is so miserable to be right back at the beginning again with lots to lose again.

So far so good today. I had a shake for breakfast, a ham salad sandwich, apple and yoghurt for lunch and I'll have a shake for dinner tonight. I've drank 2 bottles of water so far and haven't felt hungry at all. Fingers crossed it stays that way, I thought I'd be at eating my own arm stage at this point in the day!

Hello, I just started this plan yesterday, would be great to chat with others doing it if anyone wants to?

I've been doing SW/MFP for ages sporadically, not losing anything as only sticking to it about 50% of the time. Decided I needed to make a change and kick start some weight loss after putting even more on over Christmas.

I've not done it perfectly though and wonder if I'm just gonna waste my time/money!

Thurs was at work, I had a chocolate shake for breakfast and a bar for lunch. They were remarkably filling! Also had some clementines in the pm. For dinner we had a takeaway, but I chose chicken kebab, so grilled chicken pieces, 1 pitta + salad/veg. So not great, not too bad. Then 1 square of chocolate.

Today I was going out for lunch and didn't have any SF products in 1st thing, I therefore had a banana for breakfast and a bag of wotsits late morning. Oddly, we went Turkish for lunch and I had cheese pastry followed by chicken kebab. I had a glass of wine too which I shouldn't have! Then this evening had a meal replacement bar.

Have bought a supply of shakes and bars (Superdrug, 1/3 off) today for the next week or so but I have a dinner party tomorrow night so will massively bust my 500cal limit. Will not have the 3x snacks to compensate a tiny bit.

Fingers crossed this works for me, I need to lose some weight badly.

Good luck to all.

Hi Chewbacca. I have quite a busy social life too and I'm managing to work the SF around it. For example, if I am with friends for lunch I have SF for breakfast and dinner. If I know the meal is more calorific, like you I have missed the snacks to compensate a bit. It's not perfect but I figure every little helps. Regarding wasting money, I buy the quick start boxes which have enough SF products for a week and cost about £25. I spend way more than that on food for a week of lunches and breakfasts so I am actually saving money. I am quite profligate with food spending though so I know that won't be true for everyone.

I also really need to lose some weight though so while this is working I'm happy to go along with it.

Checking in! I start on Monday, can I ask a few questions?
Are you doing exercise as well? I'm worried that the calorie allowance isn't enough to do too much and I'll feel dizzy. Do you get starving? And if you're out for the day do you make the shake up in advance, and does it taste alright? I've got vanilla and chocolate because I heard pretty bad things about strawberry.
In total I have about 3 stone to lose, which I obviously can't do on SF alone! But a kick up the bum is what I need, I don't feel motivated to eat well because I'm fat, which is a catch 22!

Agree stewards, the SF is much cheaper than my usual lunch, ITSU being my fave.

guiness, I'm not exercising, no, for various reasons. I have been very far from starving, I've found both shakes and bars to be remarkably filling.

I've bought the readymade shakes so not sure about the powder.
