Paul Mckenna I can make you thin - any success stories?

Just that really. I was going to start Slimming World again on Friday. I've half heartedly been following WW as I wanted to sort portions blah blah blah etc etc.

I woke up today and have just had enough. I'm bored of it all. Ironically, I weigh far more than I ever did before I started dieting almost 8yrs ago.
I never had before and was always between 8-9 stone. I had gained a stone after having DS2 and decided to go along to SW.
I now have 4 stone to lose Blush and I'm so sick of diets!
Any tips? Anyone tried Paul Mckenna? Is it another fad?

NotAnotherUserName1234 Could you give more details please? Did you lose weight cooking her recipes?

Glittery Hello Smile. Are you in the same boat?

Not with the getting thin but yes with his "change your live in 7 days" might now have been 7 days and also might be coincidence. But I bought it when I was obvs not happy with life and everything I "visualized with his audios has happened. I am considering using it again to see if it helps with some issues we have now (which are my issues really).
So I would definitely give it a go.

I tried it but portion size wasn't my issue. I'm totally intolerant of carbs. I switched to Low carb high fat and lost 70lbs.

I'm a believer in the old hypnotherapy. I decided to believe in it, and it works great. I'm doing the gastric band one and it's not dramatic but I'm gradually, imperceptibly crawling downwards. This is exactly what I wanted. Nothing dramatic, just the reverse of the gain where you put your jeans on and they're a bit cosier than the last time you wore them.

Just downloaded the gastric band app! Have used Paul McKenna for years to help me sleep. Love self-guided hypnosis (I'm not a naturally relaxed person). Hoping this will work because I can't be bothered with slimming world again. So no success stories from me (yet!) but following with interest.

Gillian Riley has a book called "eating less" (I think)which is very good. I also like Brain over Binge by Kathryn Hansen. Both books challenging how we think about food rather than diet books iyswim

I've also downloaded a virtual gastric band app this week. Early days but I'm staying positive. Smaller portions, eating mindfully, enjoying every mouthful - basically the same as Paul McKenna.
What have you got to lose?

I am on Day 4 of the Paul McKenna app "I can make you thin". I'm like you OP weight wise and also sick of losing/gaining back same four stone. I'd be happy with a two stone loss now that I'm older.

It is definitely having an impact on my behaviour around food so am feeling positive. It's only a fiver so why don't you get it - we can compare notes and support each other (and anyone else who wants to give it a go!) 😊

Change your life in 7 days is his best book by far. Everytime I re-do the programme I seem to discover something in the next few days that changes my life.

I did lose weight with 'I can make you thin' especially when using the diary in conjunction with it. The chang your life in 7days programme is what led to my new confidence and love of exercise and genuine well being, as opposed to portion control.

The gastric band book seemed silly to me. It didn't work

I did I can make you thin and the gastric band. They both work. I have been doing this method which is basically mindful eating for about 10 years now. The gastric band I was actually scared of doing but it worked too. After eating I now get a "feeling"in my tummy that just says "Im done". I can listen to it and obey or I can over rule it but it is a definate loud feeling. These methods have enabled me to not gain weight which is more important than losing it in my opinion. I dont overeat anymore as I have no need to. I can eat whatever I like when I am truly hungry so why would I. Its good. We had a brilliant thread going a couple of years ago on Mumsnet and was very supportive and most of us have continued doing this for life.

Funnily enough I just got this book on a charity shop (after posting here!) for 20p! CD and all.
So I am pregnant now but will definitely do it after I have the baby.

I have just downloaded the app on my phone, have tried it before and was doing ok (prob just over a year ago), but feel awful at the moment and want to give it a proper go.

I've used pk on and off and it's the only thing that works for me. I've restarted this week and would love to join this group. It really helps to have a group on here. I want to lose about a stone but 2 would be great. I'm a few days in and already feeling great, eating less and losing weight.

Hi, hope no one minds me resurrecting this thread. Was doing PM before Christmas and over Christmas and was doing well with it, didn't lose weight but maintained. Since Christmas for a number of easons I have fallen royally off the wagon and put on two more pounds (heaviest I have ever been apart from pregnancy), really need to get on top of it again and start over. I did buy the app but have basically spent the past month re doing the last couple of days, just fell off the wagon and couldn't fit it in properly. Feel really ashamed of myself and I just know that I cannot do a traditional diet anymore, just the thought of it make me hungry so I know I need to give PM another proper crack as I did learn he principles. Would be fab if anyone could join me. Think this is the only thing that might work for me long term, I am terrified of turning into a proper fat middle aged woman and I am a real emotional eater and very good at self-sabatage cause I am so scared of failing that feel I almost need to get it over and done with cause it is inevitable. Sorry for essay.

Hi Octopus37, I'm sort of doing 'I Can Make You Thin,' too. I'm trying to eat more slowly and putting down my knife and fork between mouthfuls. I haven't quite got the 'I'm full' feeling down yet, but then I am eating smaller portions than I had been. I don't wait till I'm hungry to eat breakfast, don't have time for that. Occasionally I'll snack too, but only something low cal/fat, and only one. I am doing the friendly mirror exercises too.
How about you? Which PM are you following?
I get the emotional eating bit too. Dieting itself is very frustrating and boring! lol (Time spent convincing self to not eat vs how slowly it comes off.)

I did the thin app before Christmas, I have also got the I can make you thin book. I know what you mean about the waiting until you are hungry to eat breakfast thing and busyness. This morning I just ate a very small breakfast. Thanks for replying, I am in a much more positive mindset today

Ahh, I'm getting weighed in a week (First time since starting, will be 4 weeks.) and I'm feeling like I'm self--sabotaging! I don't know what it is but something switched when I realised (About the weigh-in.). I was so steelie determined before. I had 4 small chocolates today and chip butties for tea.
Must stay strong!
How are you doing Octo? Hopefully you're not sabotaging yourself too?

So so, I had a bit of a self-sabotage last night but overall I am eating a bit less. Good to have some support on here. Good luck everyone

Hi all, I have used this book off and on since 2006 and it always works if you do it properly. Unfortunately greed often takes over with me and overrides my efforts. I also hate listening to the disc! I have around 3 1/2 stone to lose and have started off again today in the aftermath of my 49th birthday last week and much stuffing of goodies. I would definitely like to join in if we are trying the PM methods.

Thanks Octopus, good luck to you too. Smile I seem to be back on form today. But then I wasn't around any chocolate which always helps! lol
Hi drigon, I hate listen to the disc too, it's so boring! lol I always mess up the counting backwards from 300 too. Glad you've had previous success with it so hopefully it'll work this time too. Smile
I'm not sticking ridgedly to it but I think the CD is having an effect. I've cut down my portion sizes and am trying to leave some food on my plate and stop when I think I'm full. Also I am taking better care of myself generally, thinks like painting my nails, wearing jewellery etc.
Keep going everyone, and good luck!
