Elimination diet

So I have tried loads of diets/eating plans/my fitness pal type apps and exercise. Basically I'm lazy and a cheat. If I have a plan, I cheat. If I limit calories, I cheat. If I 5:2, I keep pushing back the 2 days til actually it 7:0. I have zero discipline!
But this year I lost 2 stone when I quit dairy. No cutting of calories, just a different type.
So I'm thinking of cutting out gluten, and maybe sugar. I'm happy gluten will be easy, so much dairy free stuff is also gluten free. But sugar will be tough, I'll have to completely rid the house of it and dh is not supportive (still has proper butter on his toast, I LOVE proper butter!)
Anyone had any success with elimination diets?

Yes...
Go for it
You have everything to gain
I'm gluten and almost dairy free.
Only have cheese occasionally.
Sugar low or no sugar.

Daily menu
Omelette with onion
Green soup/ butternut squash soup. Maybe a gram flour pizza
Evening meal veg, protein and a bit of good carb..sweet potato, quinoa, whole grain rice etc

That's my basic diet..obviously it fluctuates.
Box all your choc and put it in the freezer. Keep it there for emergencies.

Intermittent fast from dinner to breakfast...looking at 14 hours minimum

Gives digestion a good rest. Stops evening snacking.
Look at no s diet
No sugar, snacks, seconds till days with an s in

I hat fannying about diets.

I'm considering it, cos my tummy is never ever quite right. 'IBS' apparently but feels like lazy diagnosis.

I don't eat dairy (but not strict i.e. don't check food packets) and it's helped loads.

Gluten next. Then sugar...

Good luck on your journey!

@Dowser please could you post more example days? Thanks x

Ermmm
That's basically it
That's my food when at home most days.
If we eat out I'll have a protein ( maybe steak, chicken etc) veg and a bit of rice or potato.

Evening menus tend to be fruity turkey curry with whole grain rice or buckwheat ( not wheat , a protein), quinoa
Shepherd pie mince with sweet potato topping
Fish with steamed veg and maybe some rice and peas
Steak, lamb shanks...love oven roasted asparagus drizzled with olive oil and rock salt
If we have a pasta type meal , I'll have a small portion of gluten free pasta
Stir frys
Our meals are quite simple
If I have a take away it will a tandoori chicken and rice
I'm trying to lose weight so I'm only eating small portions and then stop eating between 8pm and 10am

Don't buy gluten free breads and biscuits...they are mostly not good.
Basically eliminate all wheat, oats...don't replace them with goods containing tapioca flour, potato starch etc
Look to veggies, protein and a bit of quinoa, sweet potato, whole grain rice if you want a bit of carb

Could I make my own bread?

You can. There is gluten free flour. I don't know how palatable it is.
I have had spelt flour bread occasionally. It's an ancient grain so not as messed about with but I think if you decide to go gluten free you have to change your whole mindset on the way you present your food i.e. Instead of putting your protein between two slices of bread, maybe have it with rice, veggies or salad.
