I have my next appointment with my consultant and if my bmi is under 30 she will put us on waiting list for IVF.
My bmi is 30, I'm 12st 13lb and would like to get down to 12st by 7tj November, a little over 2 weeks.

What can I do?

Those shake meal replacement things?

Not the most sustainable way to loose weight quickly, but seems to work.

Or get a book on detoxing? Never done this myself (I am basically all wine inside), but I have clients who swear by detox diets for fast weight loss.

I would say that many many people on the terri ann 123 diet have done this. (Not me - I only managed 8lb) Its basically very high protein very low carb/fat/sugar. And lots of water.

Only eating natural food in its natural state will help a lot and nobody has mentioned exercise - start doing plenty every day to use calories.

I would add though that if you are that desperate to get on the IVF waiting list you need to make this a long term lifestyle not just a binge reaction to your appointment with the consultant. They have set the BMI limit for a reason and if you are just going to go back and put the weight back on are you really being true to your intentions of getting pregnant.

OP,as a long-term Slimming World member, I have seen many people lose that amount in the first two weeks.
Join SW as soon as you can, and if you keep to the plan, you will not go hungry and will have a good loss before your appointment, even if it's not as much as you want.
Maybe if the consultant could see how well you're doing, that would be sufficient to go on the waiting list.
And you would be making a long term, sustainable commitment.

You need low carb high fat (LCHF)
Check out dietdoctor.com
Good luck with the IVF

Thank you ladies for your input. I have done slimming world before but managed to slip off. Think I'm going to stick to slimming world but really strict with it and have no syns everyday. I know I do need to keep the weight off for IVF and not just for this appointment. It's only a quick fix and then once I get on the list hopefully I'll keep eating healthy and keep my bmi down.

how patronizing twobambinos - the OP said she wants to lose 13lbs by the 7th November. She didn't say she wanted to get to 12.7 and is therefore unable to take 5 away from 13!

Good idea RE healthy SW plan, OP, but don't go without your syns, as that is part of the complete plan, and it won't help your weight loss; it might even slow it down.
You should have at least 5 syns a day.
My Consultant says it's like extra fuel going on the fire, and boosts your metabolism.

Twobambinos needs to learn to read and count.

12st 13 to 12st 7 is 6lbs, not 5. But that's not even what the OP said anyway.

Good luck, OP!

Sorry op having a bad day myself and obviously read your post wrong, didn't mean for it to sound patronising just thought maybe you had miscalculated as could happen to anyone actually.
Hope your appointment goes really well and gives you the motivation to keep up the good work.

The dukan diet always works for me, lots of lean meat, muller light toffee yogurts, eggs, far free cottage cheese, fish, 2 tablespoons of oat bran a day to make a pancake or porridge. It falls off within days. Look it up, let me know if you need any tips on it as it's hard to get a good variety but I do it a lot and found ways to make it easier/more interesting.

The blood sugar diet. It's written by a doctor and clinically proven. Buy the book. It's not just for people with type 2 diabetes.

Hi,

Meal replacement shakes are really good for a short term fix. Lipotrim, exante etc loads available google it. It's really difficult but I lost 10lbs in a week with both.

As for having to have a lower bmi to conceive I think that's not necessarily true anyway so just get to what u have to. My bmi was 30 and I conceived with literally one attempt and my second pregnancy my bmi was 34 as it was soon after I had first and again I conceived first try. My first pregnancy and birth were normal and problem free and so far 2nd pregnancy too (I'm 38 weeks). I'm sorry I genuinely don't mean that to sound offensive it must sound infuriating as you are having to go through ivf but the point I'm making is being overweight isn't always an issue like the docs make out. I understand it is better for you and baby to be a healthier weight and so they must insist on it to give u the best chance but it's not the be all and end all so try not to worry and be positive you will conceive. I was worried I would find it hard cos of my weight and I was in the process of losing weight to ttc but it happened anyway to my amazement so please take this as encouraging information! Very best of luck xxxx
