Can I join you, I'm on another thread but traffic has slowed down. It helps me to be accountable and report weekly. I weigh in at home on Saturdays. I've lost 21lbs in 6 weeks (10lbs in first 2 weeks). Want to loose another 3.5 stone

how have you been losing your weight? good diet and exercise? or a specific diet?

Hi Amaya

Its been rethinking my attitude to food and activity.

With 5 stone, I know I'm in for the long haul so its got to be sustainable (I reckon 8-9 months to shift it all and then a lifetime to keep it off).

I've updated my activity, and bought a fitbit and aim to do an absolute minimum of 10k steps a day but really want to do 15k. Work is sedentary, so I make myself take a break and walk for 30-45 minutes at lunch time.
Avoid using the car for short journeys.

Because I know how many calories I'm burning, I aim to eat 1,000 less than I burn. I don't track calorie consumption but keep a running total in my head.

On food, its about making health and sustainable choices; not seeing certain foods as a treat. I make choices not to consume ABC:
A = Alcohol, not had many but not a big drinker anyway and alcohol makes me want to eat
B = Bread and Biscuits. I limit the bread I eat, probably a slice a week, and have soup or salad for lunch. No biscuits in 7 weeks.
C = Chocolate, Crisps and Cheese. I've had a couple of small nibbles but lost my taste for it. Crisps still bit of a downfall, but only 1 or 2 per week. Cheese. yes dairy is good but calorific, so limit cheese.

After that its eat what I like but look at choices and quantity. I remember my Mum being on fad diets (remember, Limit diet chocolate biscuits??), I have a young daughter and don't want her having my issues with food/ weight. So I eat what the family eat, e.g. kids wanted fish and chip takeaway last night, I had some too, but shared fish with child and had a handful of chips. I was still 1,000 calories down yesterday.

So far so good, ask me again in 6 months!

wow that all sounds like hard work, but sensible. i lost mine on the slimming world diet, but going to group without a friend was hard. everyone was in their own friend circles and i didnt seem to fit with anyone.

My biggest downfall is eating lots of everything. im a over eater. i find i never feel full, even when ive eaten enough to make me sick. ive been to the doctors but they arent equipped to help me :(

so im going to try and do what i was doing on SW, and weigh in here instead. see if that helps.

I'll join in. I am aiming to lose 4 stone although I need to lose more I think a 4 stone loss is the least amount of weight loss I will feel comfortable with. So I'll start with that. I think its very unlikely I will lose a stone by Christmas but I'm going to aim for a loss each week, not a set goal each week, just a loss.

I need to watch my portion sizes, eat less chocolate and fast food. I also need to try to exercise more but I currently feel and look so fat that I want to lose a bit of weight first then start on the exercise when I feel ready.

I forgot to WI this morning but last week I was 16 stone 2lbs :(

:( i feel the same, i cant imagine exercising outside, and inside its a struggle. im 18stone 3lbs. when you have a large amount of weight to lose, it can feel too much, and i know i should be happy with any loss, but until it adds up to a big amount, i dont feel like ive lost any.

Hi I'd like to join in, I'm now the heaviest I have ever been. I lost 3 stone 8 years ago, since then my weight had yo -yoed , I've done weightwatchers and slimming world and had sucess with both, I got to 2lbs above my target weight at slimming world then put all the weight back on. Recently weight is pilling on, Fed up of not being able to get nice clothes that fit properly !

Aiming to loose 4 stones, then see how I feel, going to try and stick to 1200 calories a day. I can't exercise too much at the moment ,Dr suggested that I loose a stone before going back to classes at the gym. Intending to walk a bit more and swim once a week. I normally weigh myself on Friday, so what ever I post on Sunday will be Fridays weigh in and hopefully weightloss !

welcome Ihateseagulls :)

Good luck on your hopefully final weight loss journey!

it's day 2 for me on the slimming world diet again. it's going okay. but i felt hungry :( it's normal for me though, i know the slimming world diet isn't that restrictive, but i still feel like it is for the first few weeks.

I would love to join you ladies. Dp and I are overhauling our diet. I had dc3 almost 8 months ago and have drifted in to bad habits whilst on maternity leave. I go back to work in 4 weeks and would like to lose half a stone before then. I am off to my mums shortly to wi. So I will report back.

Hi Mercury, think it def helps having DP onboard and looking at overall diet, mine has lost almost as much as me, but only has 1.5 stones to target where I have almost 3.5 to mine!

I'm in! I want to lose 1.5 stone but will be happy if I can shift 1 stone. Full time work and two young children including a non sleeping toddler leaves me so shattered I'm relying on carbs to get through the day.

The birth of my youngest has left me with a ridiculously flabby belly area that I desperately want to tone up.

Well done aurorie11 on your weightloss this week, and your total so far.

I lost 5 lbs this week, was a nice surprise but have been pretty strict with myself, having a good loss has motivated me to make good choices over the weekend and to keep going.

Hope everyone has a good week

Can I join in too? I need to loose 6.5 stone altogether and have managed just over 2 stone loss since starting in July. I've been lurking on the weight loss chat threads, and would appreciate being able to talk to others who are on the long, long road back to being healthy again.

Hi LaundryFairy, welcome aboard!

To my amazement I've lost 3lbs this week, despite eating out twice and first alcohol (2 glasses in total) since August plus exercise has been lower, so 27lbs in total, only 1lb to my first interim target.

I'm in! Need to lose about 2st, was doing well and lost about 12lb but have slipped and probably put it back on. Will weigh later. Using an UP tracker, MFP and getting back in the gym!! Big downers for me are picking at food constantly and alcohol. Would love to lose as much as poss by Christmas Grin

Thanks, aurorie11. I weigh myself tomorrow after a two week break which has included many meals out and a 4 day visit with friends over half term, so I'll be really pleased if I've lost anything, to be honest.

Hi Laundryfairy

I had a couple of great days and a few not so good days this week. However, I weighed myself today and I'm pleased to report I have lost 2 pounds. I will be starting with renewed vigour in the morning.

Report
LaundryFairy · 30/10/2016 19:33

That's great, Mercury! I know what you mean about renewed vigour. In the weeks where I have lost 1/2 a pound, it gets a bit discouraging, thinking how long is this going to take.

This morning I was really pleased to find out that I have lost 5 pounds since I last weighed myself two weeks ago. I really didn't expect to have managed much as I weighed myself at a friend's house a week ago and showed no change, but I guess the scales were just set differently. I'm going with my scales as they are clearly more accurate! Wink
