Anyone doing this? Would love a buddy or three. I'm starting today. If all goes to plan this is the last #notadiet healthy eating plan I'll be on forever! Bets? FFS, there we go, think success!

Yes, I plan to start on Monday. I've had the book a while and tried some of the recipes which have been great. How are you getting on so far?

Hi poultrylady The food is great, but I struggled a bit with fitting everything in in a busy day with the kids. Haven't done the workout. (And won't now as I'm jetlagged). Was originally planning on starting tomorrow anyway so I'm going to take this as a "trial" day and start really properly tomorrow.
I can see feeding 6 of us on this plan - with extra carbs for the others - is going to be expensive!
Just about to do my initial weight and selfie for the 'before' stage... I reckon I'll need a lot more than 6 weeks to hit my target weight/size.
These are my aims:

  1. Size 12 jeans comfortably (now 16-18)
  2. Able to shop in any normal high street shop
  3. Under 65kg (now
  4. Able to do a boot camp class without dying
  5. Able to jog up the hill I live on.

What are yours? Are you a serial dieter? (I am). I really want this to be the last time I start a new bloody thing.

Would be great to hear anyone else's experience with this too.

No booze last night, and stuck to the plan. Success!
Day 3 - going well. Am going to do easier exercises - better to do something than to fail,

Hello- my first post ever on MN! Ive just read the lean for life book and am thinking of starting in the next couple of days. How have you found it so far? I'm a total sugar junkie so expecting the first few weeks to be quite tough

Report
mrspotatolegs · 08/09/2016 09:28

I had to ditch the exercises for something easier or I'd never be able to stick at it. I'm doing HIIT workouts from the 7 minute workout app instead in the morning and the belly fat app in the evening instead. Trying to stick to the rest of it though I'm too busy to impose a 9.30 digital curfew.
Food wise it's excellent. Very easy to adapt the recipes to whatever you have without extending the quantities. And most are fine for the family, with added potatoes, rice or bread for the kids.
Going well. First weigh in not for another week, but I feel fitter already.

Oh can I join? I started lean for life a while ago. I was doing really well until we went away Shock. This week has been a token gesture and I haven't committed myself- eek.

However, I did start seeing results and felt so much better about myself , previously.

My plan is to start officially Monday. With before pics, measurements & buying some weighing scales!

Hi Gin, yes do! It is hard when you travel, go out, have guests etc. So I know I'm not quite 100% sticking to it, but I am doing pretty well - even no alcohol which for me is Shock. I'm sure if you slipped a bit on holiday hats just the way it goes. Jump right back in Grin

Thank you Mrs. I struggle with the no alcohol and cutting down on the tea & coffee! I find breakfast and dinner fine. But struggle with the prep for lunch.

Anyway, how have you found it this weekend?

I'm just coming to the end of week 6 - lost 10 pounds so happy with that! I'm not hungry and really enjoy the food but I'm lucky as I work from home. Exercises are hit and miss as I did my back in week 3! Just trying to up the steps instead and stay in the inner circle! I'll need to do 2 more rounds I think. Definitely missing my wine! Good luck everyone!

mustbe that's amazing, well done. I have so little self-control. I bought the book 3 months ago and read it but didn't get my arse into gear Blush You've all given me inspiration now, can I join you? I will prep tomorrow night and start properly Tuesday. Have a stone to loose. 10.5 stone now, want to improve my overall health and fitness and get to 9.5 stone. Good luck everyone Flowers

Go for it owl! I think it's working for me as I don't feel like I'm depriving myself - the snacks really help me stick to it. I'm still drinking too much coffee and not enough water though!

Report
SlightlyperturbedOwl · 11/09/2016 22:31

That sounds hopeful, I love that type of food, it's just giving up chocolate, cakes and alcohol that I'm going to find hard Sad I have a bit of a snack problem when bored, stressed or emotional I think. Nothing major but willpower needs some work! I will report back on Tuesday at the end of day 1, hopefully that way it will motivate me. If Sandy Toskvig can do it then so can I 😊 Good luck for this week everyone.

Other things that are working for me from The Book:

Ink it don't think it - got a notebook and write down your targets then make them 30% bigger.

Take the direct route/start once don't stop - previously I've derailed myself after a bit of a loss thinking oh u can have a few glasses of wine - then it's down the slippery slope!

Reminding myself that this isn't a diet - it's my new normal and once I'm the weight I want to be I can switch to Lifestyle and have a glass of wine or roasties with Sunday dinner but only if they are "worth it" - no more mindlessly shovelling food down my neck because I'm pissed off/sad/bored etc.

MrsP how is the HIIT training going for you? I agree that her exercises are hard - we need a video as I'm sure that my poor technique caused a knackered back!

Report
SlightlyperturbedOwl · 11/09/2016 22:38

Ok that sounds helpful, I'll reread the book tomorrow too I think to get my mind back on it. The first glass /chocolate thing is definitely my downfall, I just sabotage. Right, off to bed now, am quite excited to think I can do this. Thanks mustbe

Right, after a poor start yesterday. I'm in. 'Mustbe' thank you. You have inspired me. Need to get back to the inner circle. 'Owl' & 'MrsP' how are you getting on?

I've taken photos- eek. Still need to buy some scales, Confused. I hate weighing myself. My aim is to get healthy and fit. I would like to tone up and loose a stone. I'm not over weight but I'm not healthy. I want to feel good about myself.

I haven't attempted the exercises the in the book yet. As 'Mustbe' has commented, my technique is questionable. However, I plan to use free weights, practise Pilates and actually use my cross trainer ( I used to run but I have damaged my knee - no high impact for me). Good luck everyone!

Gosh well done everyone. I completely agree with no alcohol being hardest. I have had a lot of social stuff on, and constantly saying just a fizzy water with a wedge of lime is hard! But I'm getting used to it.

I find the quantities quite large, or maybe I'm just cheating. I have too many people in the house to do the recipes properly but I'm sticking to he principles - and that is fine. The workouts too (my ones, not the book). I cycle an hour most days so when I've done that I don't stress to much about the steps but on the days I don't ride I've been walking loads.

Main prob is so much veg that I'm getting wind. Blush

Weigh in tomorrow so we'll see if I'm just delusional!

How's everyone doing? Good day here, Cajun chicken salad for lunch and courgetti bolog tonight. Got my 10000 steps in just but clearly having a massive digital detox fail!

Gina
glad to have been of assistance!

Best bistro salad for lunch tomorrow - my fave! Grin
