My weight in last night was good. Down 3.5 lb for the week so I'm feeling pretty good. I've been drinking a lot of water in the heat so perhaps that is helping.

Happy to have a nice new thread though - it loads much faster when there aren't 900+ posts on it!

Great loss stewards, well done! And you too sesame! Everyone's doing so well.

shortaris I find that severe restriction has to come in small bursts, it can't be maintained indefinitely. Give yourself a break and concetrate on getting protein/nutrients for a while and see where you are.

dawhead you poor thing, feeling out of control with food is hideous. But comfort yourself with the thought that your gain is still tiny, and it's not going to take long to reverse the situation. sesame gives great advice.

No major bloat yet, was bang on 10st 5lb this morning. Am logging religously which is seriously helping me resist the urge to indulge. Fingers crossed I can avoid a 'real' gain this month while I have PMT and just have the water weight to shed afterwards.

Wooooo new thread thanks *Steward and well done on the huge weightloss. Grin Star

Dawhead I'm guilty of stress eating too, if I'm feeling down I automatically want to eat cake, ice cream or chocolate. It's a horrible cycle because you end up eating crap and it makes you feel better for a short while and then you feel like shit for eating when you didn't need to. I used to do it all the time before I started this thread and then I just stopped buying multi packs of bars of chocolates and cake when I went shopping and only bought things like jaffa cakes/2 finger kitkats so the really bad stuff wasn't there to eat. I'm terrible for eating with the tv too Blush when I'm watching a good programme at night I like to settle down with a cuppa and cake or chocolate now I substitute the cake/chocolate with jaffa cakes. Not quite as satisfying but it does the trick.

Short hope you had a good holiday.

Well all that time without a loss and then eventually getting to 10st 8.......this morning I'm 10st 7 wooooo 😀💪I have actually lost 3st exactly I can't believe it I'm so bloody happy I never ever thought I'd be able to lose half stone when I started this. Never did I imagine I'd be 10st 7 and a size 10 in tops. I updated MFP this morning and got confetti for reaching 100% goal, apparently I set it to 10st 7 for a laugh when I started logging I'd completely forgotten about it. Grin I think I'd like to get to 10st and see how I feel, I don't think I want to be in the 9s I'm not sure it'd suit me. I haven't got a dainty frame and I have high cheekbones and I don't want my face to look sunk in if that makes sense. I have lost a lot of weight off my face already, I don't even need to contour. Grin

MustBe - congratulations to you!!! I was just looking back at the old thread and do you remember way back in February how you were saying you couldn't believe you had lost one stone?!?! How far you have come! You must feel brilliant. Smile

stewards thanks for the new thread! Flowers Nice work on the loss – 3.5lb is brilliant!

short welcome back, I’m sure allowing yourself those few extra calories will make things easier and much more sustainable in the longer term.

hopefully well done on the logging, I’m sure it will make all the difference

must 3st is AMAZING! What an achievement – go you! Halo Star

Thanks Steward and Sesame I honestly can't believe it. I was so happy when I lost that first stone, it came off so quickly and motivated me to keep at it. Grin I never thought I'd lose this much because I could never stick to anything before and I honestly thought it'd take forever to lose so much weight but it's only August now. Grin I'm sort of trying to up my calories a little at a time, I'm not as strict I don't mind going over my daily calories but no more than 100cals more at the min. I'm hoping if I gradually increase it'll be easier to maintain when I'm at goal. To be honest I hardly ever feel hungry unless it's TOTM so it's going to be weird eating more to maintain.

MustBeThin · 25/08/2016 19:38

Thought I'd see what maintenance calories I'd get on MFP and it's saying I could eat 1760 😲😲 that seems like loads compared to my current 1200. How am I going to eat all those calories without stuffing my face with cake lol I'm hardly ever hungry after meals.

Oh hello I wondered where you'd all gone! Lost another lb so past my 2 stone mark now- my next target is 2 and a 1/2 stone that will bring me to 13 stone 9lbs which I'm hoping to get to by mid October.
Off to Carfest South tomorrow so I'm a bit worried about what I'm going to eat but I'm doing the 5k 'fun' (??) run on Saturday morning which should help to balance the bad things I'm bound to eat. I won't be able to run it all more a combination of jogging and walking.

Another 3/4 lb off for me so I'm 11.1 and 1/8 this morning. I have a tricky weekend coming with lots of socialising but hopefully will be able to make good choices.

Thought I'd rejoin you all if you'll have me back. Did bsd for the last 6 months or so but its not a long term plan & the fact I've really just been maintaining my weight loss rather than getting to my goal proves that. I started bsd in Feb at close to 12.3, I'm now 11.3 so that's the positive. I've been losing/regaining 5 pounds for months & I'm hoping the next 6 months might help me lose the next stone that would get me to my next goal. I was managing 800-1100 during the week and of course completely losing the plot on weekends, undoing all the weeks sacrifices. I'm now doing 1200 and trying to find a way to control the weekends but I'm finding that a challenge as always (don't think that'll ever change)
must, I'm astounded at you losses, I can't believe how far you've come and how you've stayed at during the plateaus. What's your final goal? Super well done ms skinny size 10😉
Stew!!! You're back too, lovely to see you posting again - sounds like you're proper back in the zone.
My hope is that I'm not back tomorrow saying I ate 20,000,000 cals in food & wine tonight. Or saying that on Sunday or Monday. I doubt 1200 a day will suffice over the weekend but no need for it to be 3500! Wish me luck

Argh, up a pound this morning and have The Hunger. 440 calories down and it's only 8:20am. And no opportunity to exercise today as have another long drive (have been house sitting, driving to friends on the way home today). Staying away for the weekend means more difficulty keeping within cals. Am going to keep logging, even if it's just rough estimates, as it's always these 3-4 days a month when I undo the hard work of the other 27 days, and (as I've mentioned before) I always find an excuse to stop logging over this period.

Hopefully · 26/08/2016 08:27

Ideas for healthy things I can keep munching on to stop me turning to the sugary crap would be much appreciated.

Report
Not2bObvious · 26/08/2016 09:00

I struggle with totm cravings too hopefully, I try munch on the healthy things but then eat the chocolate & crisps as well - double whammy. One thing I'd suggest is entering what you think you might like to eat today - what you'd normally eat in these days. In my case that could be lots of carby stuff, get it all in mfp before you do it, add some/lots of treats - see what the total is and then see what you can shave off it. So say I fancied a Big Mac meal, 1000 cals give or take - I'd compromise with a kids burger & chips, 500 cals. 2 bars/2 packs of crisps - 700/800 cals, compromise 1 smaller bar/1 packet crisps - 350 cals. Drink lots of water (not before your big drive though) And listen to yourself, eat slowly, try savour.
I'm sick of 4 days ruining every month, so much so I take my pill b2back every couple of cycles. Anyway hope that helps a bit

Oh and cut yourself some slack, allow more calories rather than feeling you've failed & go mad - allow your tdee for these days, you mightn't lose but you probably won't gain. Don't worry about no exercise, diets the first key to weight loss. To maintain is good enough during totm. And the scales won't reflect anything clearly until it's over by a few days

Hopefully · 26/08/2016 09:07

Thanks for the advice not2b. Accepting I'm going to have some indulgent stuff and working out how to best make that work sounds like a good plan - I always end up having it! Will keep glugging the water. Am going to pre-log now.

Well done Loli and Steward

Thanks Not2b good to see you back Grin Well done one the stone loss. Star I never really had an end goal because I didn't think I'd get this far 😀 I thought I'd give up within a couple of weeks like I usually do. Now I'm thinking maybe 10st I'd like to get to that point then see how I feel, I don't think I'd really want to be in the 9s and at 10st I'm still 11lbs under my top end healthy BMI. I go to stay with family for 10 days again in a couple of weeks so expect a gain. Tbh when I went in June I only came back 3-4lb heavier and it'd gone within days so not a real gain. I'm hoping that's the case again but I won't hold my breath. Grin

Ah Hopefully TOTM is a bitch. I'm the same at the min trying to resist major indulgence until Saturday night because I have a tub of Chocolate Salted Caramel Hagen Dazs Blush I don't really have any tips I'm afraid I have to call up all my will power to stay away from the fridge and for the most part I'm successful but I do sometimes cave. Sometimes I crave savory stuff and others cake but I find that whatever I'm craving, if I have a slice of mature cheddar I feel a lot less hungry than I would if I ate chocolate. If I eat chocolate I always want to eat more but for some reason cheese sorts me out. Hmm maybe try cheese?

Hi can I join in?
I've read the the last thread and it inspired me to give mfp a try. I think I've joined every weight loss thread on here at some point I'm a yo-yo dieter.

Last May I was 15st 4. A change of medication meant I lost my appetite and kick started me dieting and lost 2 stone in 3 months. From September last year I've lost and regained the same 7lbs over and over. So I need to get this sorted.

I weighed in on Wednesday and was 12.13.6. I started mfp then and am on 1260 a day. Been quite hungry but drinking lots of water (which I never did before) so that's helped.

must my thinking of maintenance longer term is something to do with averaging out the calories across the week. If I could manage mostly sensible/lighter days during the working week, I hope I would then be able to have some nice treats a couple of times a week and allow for eating out, including the less sensible choices sometimes.

loli well done on 2st! My advice is to keep logging everything you can, and enjoy your weekend away!

stewards looking good, definitely try to make the intelligent choices and hopefully you’ll be able to keep things in check

not hi there! Would be interesting to hear your experiences of blood sugar diet? Will you still keep some of it going while doing mfp? And of course, best of luck! Shamrock

hopefully the obvious snack is raw veg – peppers, carrots, celery, broccoli etc.. Oatcakes if you need something more substantial. And hot drinks can be good - some of the sweeter tasting herbal teas (e.g. peppermint and liquorice) can take the edge off a sugar craving, especially after dinner. I think what not says about cutting some slack is sensible too.

sparkle welcome on board, there are some very supportive folk here! Smile

Scales the last couple of days have put me just a smidgen over 10st4, I’d much prefer to be a smidgen under but hopefully things will righten themselves over the weekend. My calories have been slightly over the last couple of days which does explain things, and I found yet another excuse not to do my midweek run. But at least af is behind me now, and I’m hoping I’ll see some more progress over the next 7 days.

I am feeling very smug as (with apologies for TMI), my period has appeared two days earlier than expected, which means (fingers crossed) I have avoided more than 1lb of PMT bloat this month! So pleased that for once I might actually not undo the entire month's work with three days of binging beforehand. Will be interesting to see what my weight does in the coming week, as this is uncharted territory for me.

Good for you Hopefully.

Yay MustBe!

Not2 - glad to see you back and so much lighter than before!

I am in the zone today. I had a sudden surge of energy this evening and although I didn't go do any exercise with it (that would have been the obvious thing!) I had a big anti-food pro fasting feeling. So I plan to run with that for as long as it lasts and shift a few lb with any luck.

I'm am using all my willpower right now. I'm on my lunch break at work and there is a bowl full of mini rolls I love them and it's so hard to resist. I know I can have one and count the calories but I'm worried if I have one it'll set me off and I'll binge.
