Did others notice your weight loss?

I'm 11lbs down and need to shift at least another two stone Envy

Clearly at this stage I'm not expecting anyone else to notice as the loss isn't really obvious to anyone but me, DH and my jeans. also aware that others will probably not give a shite if I've shifted a few pounds

If you've lost weight, when did friends etc start to notice? The reason for asking is that I've lost weight in the past, and although I find positive comments mildly embarrassing at the time, it does motivate me and I need a bit of that at the moment Sad

I've got 4 stone to lose & ive lost nearly 3 & no one has said. I lost most of it over the summer holidays so thought people who hadn't seen me would notice but nope. The people who know I'm on a diet say I'm looking thinner but that's all.

1 stone in friends and family started to notice. 1.5 stone in people i generally knew started to notice and asked what I was doing. 2 stone in strangers in the gym stopped to say how much weight I'd lost; men told me how good I looked women asked how I had done it. 3 stone friends I hadn't seen in nearly a year didn't actually recognise me. Confused

Wow, toffee, that's brilliant. Well done.

It's such a slow process. I'm bored

I've lost 12lbs so far (got stones to go) and a friend whom I hadn't seen for a couple of months noticed so was well chuffed!

Keep at it - it's worth it!!

Thank you Grin

Totally a long process. I started in January just thinking I would give it a go until mid Feb when I had a a holiday planned. After then I wondered how far I could take it.... in June I threw my size 18s out and decided I was never going back

been less serious over the school holidays and hovered at around 3- 3 1/4 stone loss since. Will finish up the final 1 1/2-2 stone to reach low end of healthy bmi in September-December.

It's been a long haul but I look at the photos from last summer and those from this summer and I really am quite delighted with myself.

I think it depends how frequently people see you. My family didn't notice or comment until I'd lost over 2 stone. Colleagues I only see twice a year noticed when I met up with them after losing 11 pounds (I'd lost a lot of inches too).

Keep going! Smile

I've lost 2 stone - still have 2 to go. I found that people I see every day didn't really notice. Others, like my neighbour who has been away for a couple of months, noticed immediately and made a big thing out of it. I agree it's Blush but keeps you motivated.

I've lost 2 stones since March and nobody has noticed who doesn't already know. Or if they have noticed, they haven't said anything. However my close colleagues and family are all very encouraging so I feel motivated to keep going.

I lost over four stone and met up with uni friends I hadn't seen in a while. Nobody said a word. Bit surreal.

Well done on the weight loss! I'm 18lb down and no one at work has really noticed (although family has..)

I think height is a major factor though as I'm 5'11 so think takes greater weight loss to show. Also means I can put more on before it makes a major difference too!

Congratulations.

As for people mentioning anything.... I would never, ever say 'oh, you have lost weight' to anyone and hate, hate, hate it when anyone says it to me. More than happy to say 'wow, you are looking great' or 'you are looking very well' but direct reference to weight loss is a big no-no for me.

If it is happening for the right reasons, ie you have made diet and lifestyle choices , then I imagine you are feeling the benefits, then you don't need me to tell you. To me, it always sounds as if the person is saying 'oooh you used to be fat'. If you are suffering a major disease, then you really don't need me to be congratulating you. HTH

I lost 2.5 stone between January and June this year, and it was from probably 1 - 1.5stone in that people started really commenting. It definitely motivates you to keep on going! However a couple of people only mentioned it when they were with someone else who had already mentioned it to me, saying that they didn't like to comment on something so personal, so maybe you just know a lot of very polite people op!

Well done on the fab weight loss so far!
