Struggling to lose weight here after I turned 40. I used to be slim and be able to eat and drink anything. At 5'3" I'm small so I can't carry much weight. I used to be around 8st 12lbs and if I went up a few pounds I could lose it in a couple of weeks. I'm 43 now and I'm 10st 11lbs and my god it shows, and it's getting harder and harder to shift it. At the moment I'm doing MFP at 1,200 cals per day and exercise (walking, HIIT and weights) and I hope I can sustain it. I've tried juicing, etc and I don't agree with the Slimming World ethos even though I know it works for many, many people. I'm rubbish at totally eliminating foods and I do like to drink alcohol. I'm hoping that by having significantly reduced amounts of all the foods I eat, plus increasing my energy output with exercise it should work. I rarely eat any dairy (hate yoghurts and cheese and prefer almond milk in tea etc) and don't ever buy low fat stuff because of the sugar / salt content. I cook most meals from scratch.
So, if you are in your mid 40s how have you controlled your weight? If you have lost a lot how did you do it?
