Turned 45, suddenly can't lose weight

Is it my hormones? Recently. NOTHING I do to lose weight has ANY effect at all. In the past I've lost 3-4stone by following a strict diet. I put some back on, so tried the diet again and NOTHING.

I'm currently doing a week-long diet with my friend; she is a day behind me, but has already lost 6lbs. I lost 3lbs on the first day, then NOTHING.

I went to the Dr and asked for menopause and thyroid blood tests, but they both came back normal. My periods are still regular, although they often come after 3 weeks, not 4, and are heavier/clotty, and go on for 7 days (not the old 5). I'm tired A LOT. My hair might be more dry, or the water in my new house is just very hard.

What can I do? I'm 5'7" and weigh 12stone, and am SO depressed about it.

PLEASE help. Am I domed to be 12stone forever? I want to be 9.5/10.

Anyone any ideas? Do you lose weight as easily now (over 45) than you did in your 30s and early 40s? I knew my metabolism would slow down a bit, but it's like it came to a crashing HALT on my 45th birthday!

Hi

I put on two stone when poorly but didn't realise. I did lose the weight but it's gone back in and I have no idea why. My metabolism and food life has changed since I did a certain plan. Nothing is working for me at the moment. Exercise = no weight loss. Watching what I eat and cutting down = no weight loss. I'm seriously fed up. I also think I'm peri- menopausal but a blood test says no. My symptoms say yes. I'm 44 and need to lose 3 1/2 stone.
