Once again I am going to embark on a renewed attempt at weight loss. I can't bring myself to weigh at the moment but I'm sure I've got in the region of 6 stone to lose Blush

Does anybody want to join me in an accountability thread? We have 6 months of 2016 left, and this will be the year I weigh considerably less than what I started out at!

I will join you. I have about 4 stone to lose. Can't begin until Saturday as I'm going out for, ahem, 2 meals tomorrow!

What plan are you going to follow, thumbs ? I'm going back onto low carbing which does really suit me. I've put on a lot of weight since I had my 2 and a half year old DD and my dog died. My dog was old and had slowed down a lot over her last 18 months so I haven't been getting the exercise I was used to. Guess I will need to to start those Davina DVDs again.

Me please! I get married in 7 months and it's taken me since Jan to lose 1 stone! Just bought my dress which is slightly too small which I thought would kick me up the bump but as it stands I'm gonna need it taking out instead of it!

I'd love to join you, and a thread for test of 2016 sounds great! I actually only want to lose 20 pounds so hoping I might be done shedding in October ... But given that I lost and then regained around 20 pounds last year, staying focused on maintenance will be the big challenge for me (plus maybe realising that I have to settle for looking "not hugely overweight" vs "cindy Crawford"... My target bmi is 27 as that is what I have realistically been able to maintain - I am a broad shouldered busty hourglass and if I get lower it requires obsessive measures and lasts weeks so not putting myself through that again!£

as its nearly 2 weeks since your original post Thumbs - how have you been getting on?

Has anyone else started yet?

I'm officially starting tomorrow and will initially be calorie counting to get my head around normal portion sizes again!

Would it be helpful to share what we are eating etc

Hello, I would like to join!

Glitter I think my biggest problem is portion sizes, a "normal" portion size to me looks so tiny!

Hi all, doh I should have checked back i didn't realise anybody had joined!

I'm counting calories with myfitnesspal and cycling for exercise. I only weighed myself today so I have no idea how I'm getting on but I'm feeling much better in myself. I'll be weighing in on Sundays so will keep updating with progress, let's share how we are getting on and anything else that is helpful for everyone.

Can I join you all? I've a wedding to go to in two weeks so my goal will be short term initially. I've about 8 lbs to lose in that time. I tried to start low carbing last Monday and lasted a day. With the kids and me off from school the routine has been out the window. I need to picture myself at the wedding. I will look and feel great if I lose the weight. I will feel frumpy and dumpy if I don't and I will have to buy a different dress so I have lots of motivation to do so. In the last year and a half I've kind of let myself go. I'm ten stone ten by the way, I need to be 10 stone. I'm pear shaped with a big butt and tiny waist which day to day is impossible to dress stylishly I find. So I plan to check in with you all every night if that is ok just to keep me on the straight and narrow and I'm promising myself I won't self corrupt! Look forward too to hearing how you are getting on. X

I usually weigh on a Monday morning and also use mfp for counting calories.

I go to the gym 3 times a week and also cycle quite a bit but that currently makes me think that I can eat whatever I want which is not the case!

I don't have a specific amount in mind but I have bought my wedding dress and have since put on weight!! Reckon I need to lose at least 2/3 stone to feel my best in it and I have exactly 7 months to get there!

Sorry for rambling!

I'd like to join in. I lost 10lbs at the start of the year but put it plus another 10 back on Blush. I'm also on myfitnesspal if anyone wants to link up on there.

I like exercise but am finding with working fulltime and 2 young children I struggle to fit it in. I used to exercise at 7 when my DD went to bed but she's getting harder to put down and only just went to sleep now. I've joined a new gym so I'm hoping to start some weight training again.

GlitterandSequins I was in a similar position a few years ago trying to lose weight for my wedding. I found it started slowly but then went faster later on. I did mostly HIIT and weights. The too small dress was a wonderful incentive.

I'm in!

Gained FIVE stones between September and February (disability) and now facing an op under GA and terrified (irrationally?) of dying Blush

I need to lose 10st realistically. I am aiming to lose the FIVE I have gained by January 2017 based on the five stone on in five months, I think I should be able to lose five in six? Maybe?

I'm going to eat less/low carb using myfitnesspal.

Has anyone done a list of stats?

Panda cw: 19st4lbs lost: 0lbs goal: 14st4lbs

Good luck guys!

Thanks TeamFinn ! Good to know that I'm not being completely unrealistic!

Think I'm gonna set my goals 1stone at a time, I find it easier to stick to when I think short term! It's the school holidays as of this week so aiming to lose 1 stone before term starts again in September.

I need to lose 3 stone but find it so hard, done slimming world but just made me bloated x

Panda great idea to share our stats, dont feel you have to share if you would rather not, but I'll keep a list going to provide some structure.

I'm struggling to set an end goal too, I'm 5'9 and have been varying stages of overweight for as long as I can remember, no idea how I would look or feel at a healthy bmi. At the moment I think I'll shoot for an interim target to keep me on track.

My biggest incentive to get the weight off is DH and I are hoping to TTC our first next year, and I really don't want to go in to that at a 'high risk' weight.

Thumbs cw: 19st 9lbs Blush lost: ?? interim goal: 17 st

Let's do this!

I'm starting slimming world tomorrow. I've lost 1 stone since January just by changing to diet "pop". Still have another 3 stone to lose.

May I join too? I have about four stone to lose but won't know how much exactly til I have weighed myself. Over two years I gradually lost 3 stone just by low carbing. Regained it all in about 3 months by high carbing. I know what to do but I'm so weak willed.

I just weighed myself and I weigh more than I ever have when not pregnant or just post pregnancy Sad My children are 2.5 and 5 now.

My plan is eggs for breakfast with salsa, chicken and salad for lunch, a Bounce bar late afternoon then tea when I get back from work around 7.30. Not sure what tea will be as DH is cooking.
Here's my stats added to the list:

Thumbs cw: 19st 9lbs, lost: ?? interim goal: 17 st
TeamFinn: 14st 9.5lbs, Lost: 0lbs, Interim goal: 12.5st, Longterm goal: 11st

I did weigh myself - I am 76.4 kilos and I was 70.4 (my DH likes using kilos)

Which is 13 pounds difference - sob sob sob! No wonder nothing fits....

I've had success with weight watchers online before but I can't afford it now, don't know what to use?

banana I'm not sure how it compares to we, but have you tried myfitnesspal? The app is free and you can scan barcodes or manually enter your food from an extensive database to count calories, I'm currently on 1450 cals a day which is a good level for me. There are plenty of other tools out there that do similar that may help you.

I might give that a go - I have been eating far too much lately, but I am what I would call a 'hungry person' and can't do without! Thanks!
