I downloaded my fitness pal. I get 1800 calories a day being roughly your height and weight. I eat most of my own recipes which the app calculates and often feel full. Dh follows it too and gets his wine on a weekend no problem.

Posted really long reply but lost connection all gone now. So sorry OP and no time now basicaly i fasted kind of for one day then a ciuple of days later semi fasted again it seemed to halt no slow down help me think before eating/craving, the constant need to eat. Then piled high on veg half chicken or fish no sauces and managed to shed tiny bit over a stone in 8 weeks clothes amazingly feel so much better skin brighter then me feeling better. Loads more to shed and failing little bits but on straight and narrow more than full blown back to norm. Possibly finally in better mindset to tackle myself. HTH. Just a few pounds off can make you feel better so think little rather than loads to lose.

grandmat, hope you will consider going to Slimming World: a generous eating plan with loads of lovely food to eat, and friendly consultants and members who will welcome you.
So sorry to hear about your husband.
You will be better able to support him and enjoy your time together if you deal with your weight and improve your health.
Have a look on the Slimming World website for your nearest group, and see the SW thread on here ,too.

Sorry to hear about your DH.

In terms of weightloss, you could always invest in a fitbit so it keeps track of calories you've burned, steps you've taken - it can help maintain the motivation.
A lot of people rave about 5:2. But I've found the most successful way to lose weight is to up your fruit and veg intake, lower your carb intake and move more. Good luck!
