HELP! need to lose 12lbs in 12 days

MozzchopsThirty · 05/06/2016 03:18

Can it be done?
I'm normally pretty healthy, eat well and exercise, drink plenty of water.

However am currently on holiday in US and have eaten my own body weight in crap.
Sadly when I get back I've got 12 days until a nice posh hol with the boyf
So I need to drop this weight fast

Any tips, hints, crazy 12 day diet plans??! Please Smile

The rule of thumb is that you need to burn around 3000 calories to lose 1lb of fat
So if you need to lose 12lb in fat, rather than a mixture of fat and water retention, you are going to have to work very, very hard

As a minimum, you need to drink at least 4 litres of water a day. And be on a calorie controlled diet, preferably very low carb, while upping your exercise

So my normal diet would be:
Salmon & poached egg on granary for breakfast
Lunch would be curry & brown rice or quorn lasagne
Dinner salmon & noodles, chicken & veg, omelette
2 litres of water

So what would I need to change?

Cut out all the carbs and you'll lose a few pounds of water weight. I lost about 12 pounds in my first two weeks on Michael Mosley blood sugar diet- its 800 cals a day, high protein, high fat, less than 50g carbs and zero sugar. There's various threads running on here with lots of information.

Cut out all the carbs and cut down the lunch
And add in an hour of exercise a day
Absolutely no booze or sugar

And double the water.
And water means water. Not drinks, tea, squash. Just still water

You could try a chemical diet which I understand is designed for rapid weight loss prior to surgery. Never tried it myself though.

What can I have at breakfast with no carbs?
I can't stomach salmon & egg on its own, I've tried it, it was awful

I could deffo manage that chemical diet for a week

Yoghurt & fruit for breakfast, much smaller lunch & more exercise. I reckon 800 kcal a days & loads of gym for 12lb that quickly

No it can't be done. Unless you want to find someone with norovirus to lick, or something.

Sorry, but if you can't hack 12 days of putting up with food you don't really love, you don't stand a chance

The only way of getting an extreme diet to work is with iron will power. If you can't even face one meal without toast, it isn't going to work for you.

12lbs is unrealistic anyway, but you need to reassess your goal. 6 or 7lbs is probably more realistic, if you are prepared to stick to a diet and live miserably but strictly for a couple of weeks

If that is your normal diet then I'd just stick to that from NOW but don't use bread and stick to wholemeal pastas and grains if you must eat them. That, doubling your water intake and throwing in a bit of excersize when you can be arsed compared to what you have been eating in us you are sure to loose most of that in a week.

It's unrealistic. Around 4 pounds would be feasible in a couple of weeks.

It's not that I have to have toast, I just don't like the texture of salmon & eggs alone
I can live without toast for 12 days lol

Just as a matter of interest, what will happen if you don't lose 12lbs?
I doubt the world will end, and your holiday will be lovely, and you'll still have the boyfriend. Any dude that is shallow enough to ditch you for not losing 12 lbs in 12 days is probably not worth going on holiday with anyway.
You don't actually NEED to lose 12lbs.
For some reason you have decided to punish yourself for having a good time on this holiday as you don't think you are currently good enough to go on the next one...
Weird.
Too many crap bikini body ads?
Or a grim binge starve cycle thing?

Extreme diets is about surviving on things you don't like the taste and texture of, and eating what you have been told to eat, not what you fancy

You are literally falling at the first hurdle if you can't go without your favourite breakfast

You need to set a more realistic target

It's definitely toast you need to cut - breads fattening so massively is lasagne it has cheese and pasta in it. You won't loose 12lb but might loose 7/8 with really strong will power (plus no alcohol)

I've just lost a stone in 14 days on the high fat diet. Uninspiring food but never felt hungry. I'll be taking a lot of the ideas into .your new eating regime.

Mushroom or herb omelette for breakfast, salmon or chicken or hard boiled eggs and salad for lunch with mayonnaise, steak, or pork chops, or lamb chops, or home made burgers for dinner, with broccoli and cauliflower, or courgettes, or mushrooms. No gravy if it contains starch, just use the meat juices.

Low carb, high fat. My mum just lost 6lb in five days.

If it's just holiday weight gain, a lot of it will be bloat/water weight. A strict low calorie diet should shift it.

I was on an all-inclusive 8 day break and gained around 10 lbs. Lost it all within 7 days of being back by eating 1200 calories (no cheating).
