Anyone post partum looking to lose weight?

Warmblanket · 31/05/2016 13:20

My son will be 16 weeks on Thursday. I am 5'4 and as of this morning 74.8kg.
I really let myself go during pregnancy and aiming to get to 57kg with no time limit.

I am hoping to achieve this by sensible eating, just less of everything with no restriction of any food group and by running 3 times a week and swim once a week.

My short term goal is to get to 70 kg.

I would love for anyone in a similar place to join me so we can motivate, encourage and support each other. Grin

DD is 6 months old and I have lost some weight but really need to knuckle down now. I was 83kg after she was born and I am now down to 71kg.
I have just reduced breast feeding to last thing at night and first thing in the morning so really need to stop eating the extra cake now.
I also aim to run 3 times a week and get back on to slimming world as it is a healthy eating plan that suits me.
I am 5'6'' and would like to get down to 60kg. Would be great to have some moral support!

Montymum whats slimming world like? My friend recommended weight watchers but the sign up fee and ready meals made me feel worse and more likely to cheat

I need to join you but I'm not sure I'm up to it! I'm 6 months pp and enormous. I've never been this size before but was unwell during pregnancy and gained a lot of weight. With my first child I struggled to lose weight until I stopped bfing, but I can't leave it so long this time I don't think! I did ww last time, but I need to be careful not to eat too much fibre so I don't think I'll do it this time.

I'm going to try to cut down but not cut out food, and up the exercise - I can't run yet but I'm going to do an exercise class a couple of times a week and then try to do lots of walking.

Thanks for joining me!
Lets get started and motivate each other!

monty I was 85kg when I came home from hospital & has got down to 74kg. Yes have gone slightly up since weekend Blush

It's been so so hard to lose the weight though.

gnoomi how are you now?
I was also unwell during the last 8 weeks of pregnancy. Developed gestational diabetes quite bad and was on high doses of insulin and metformin and gained almost all the extra weight during that time. I am now pre diabetic so really need to sort myself out.

seaside and peasant congrats on the new baby! Flowers

What are you guys doing in terms of diet and exercise?
Mine is to watch my carbs intake as it spikes my blood sugar level and generally eat less of everything.
I also aim to run a few times a week.
It seems such a long way to go though arrrgghh

Warm blanket I'm fine now, though my health would be better if I could lose some weight (and I'd feel better too!). I need to be determined. Not much sleep last night, have a whingey snotty (!) baby but I'm booked onto a class at lunchtime today. I just need to not eat lots of crap today (I definitely eat to keep going, I use sugar and caffeine when I've not slept, so lots of caffeine instead today I think).

Height; 5ft 6
Weight day after giving birth: 94kgs. Current weight: 86.5kgs
Goal weight: 70kgs.

I can't believe I have 16.5kgs to loose, although I was about 6.5kgs overweight since the birth of my first daughter so that hasn't helped matters.

What does everyone plan to follow? I'm going to use my fitness pal to track what I eat and join an exercise class, hopefully to go twice a week. Also bought myself an exercise bike!

I'm in. DD2 is now three months.

I'm 170cm / 87.9kg which pushes me just in to being obese. My first goal is to loose 1.5kg in the next couple of weeks so at least I am only classed as overweight.

I really want to do this by eating healthily, reducing the cake/chocolate intake and doing some exercise. I don't my 5 year old DD hearing about dieting or good & bad food as I am trying to teach her about having lots of variety in her food and everything being ok in moderation.

Avpixie I like slimming world because I like cooking romper scratch food that the whole family can eat. It is basically eating filling meals and limiting unhealthy snacks.
I lost 2 stone 8lb after I had ds and was able to maintain it for 2.5 years before dd came along!

Good day so far fruit and natural yogurt for breakfast, ham and egg salad for lunch and having roast chicken with lots of different veg tonight. I have just stuck a banana in the freezer for something sweet later ( it tastes like banana ice cream).

Have a run planned for before dinner.
Hope you are all having a good day too!

Lovely to have some company for this.

Thank you warm blanket for starting the thread.

My plans are one yoga class and one buggy for class a week to start and as much walking, gardening and outdoorsy activity as possible for me and DD1.

Toying with the idea of joining a gym with a crèche but it's not that local, i have my two year old most of the time and it's £70 a month which is a decent whack on SMP.

Also downloaded MFP and reviewing all the data I saved when losing weight after DD1. Figure if I did it before I can do it again! Dietwise, trying to cut out sugar/chocolate and stick to MFP's daily calorie recommendation plus a little more more BF.

Does anyone know how many additional calories we should consume when BF? Is it 500?

Best of luck everyone! Looking forward to hearing lots of inspiring stories and sharing support and encouragement.

I'm in too!

Height: 5'5"
Weight at start of pregnancy: 73kg
Weight at end of pregnancy: 96.9kg
Current weight: 87.5kg

DD is only 5wo but weight has stuck fast after initial post-birth 10kg loss.

I did 5:2 for 18m before recent pregnancy and hope to return to it in a few months. Meanwhile, I'm going to try and cut out most of the sugary crap.

Challenges: had ELCS so not up to exercising yet, BF so bloody hungry! And DP notorious for buying unhealthy food that we don't need (normally cut price, perishable stuff), and then I eat it.

Oh and I'm nearly 45 so have the middle age weight gain thing too Angry

So today I've had

Breakfast
Homemade muesli
Tea

Lunch
Jacket potato with tuna mayo
Skinny latte

Dinner
Leftover salads, cous cous and bacon (bit random but using up a few bits before food shop arrives tomorrow)

Snacks
Apple
Brazil nuts

According to MFP I walked 4500 steps which is below target but on track for nutrition.

Is anyone else taking a 'before' pic?

Can I join you also? Baby is 7 months so not quite PP, and have been trying really hard to lose baby weight for months, with extra effort this last month or two. Have gone from 11st 4lb after having her to 10st 7 slowly by exercising and breastfeeding, then since she has been six months have lost a further 7lb by cutting out the rubbish I was eating (cake, loads of chocolate, pastries) and sticking to 1,500 kcal on MFP. Aiming for 9st 8lb by end of July, which is about 4lb above pre pregnancy weight. So
Starting weight: 11st4
Current weight: 10st
Aim: 9st 8lb
Good luck!

Confession time, DS2 is coming up to 5 months old. He was a HG (for 41 weeks) pregnancy so I actually lost weight in pg and came out of hospital 3kg lighter than pre-preg. Since then I've got HEAVIER, and I was a big lass to start with, but due to sickness and mobility problems in pregnancy I have no muscle / fitness to speak of. Can I still join even if it's not technical baby weight. I feel like utter shite and could do with some support?

Start weight 96kg
Goal weight 66kg ( in the far far far future)
Interim goal 80kg

How's everyone getting on today?

peasant I have taken a before picture but find it hard to believe that it's me. In my head I am a young slim fit woman Grin

Yesterday could have been better food wise but did run at a snail's pace for 30 minutes and walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes so hopefully I didn't do too much damage!

original we all seem to be in a similar place so it's nice to support each other. My goal is also far far away so like you I have broken it down in chunks so I don't get discouraged. It seems more achievable that way

Hello, can I join in?
Ten weeks pp
Currently 10.5st
Pre baby 10(ish)
Should be 9.5st
I'm only 5ft so really need to lose weight on top of baby weight.

Trying to do it through healthy eating and less snacking but breastfeeding makes me want to graze all day 😐

Downloaded the couch to 5k app as a starting point but haven't had a sodding half hour to myself to do it!

Congratulations oh wool! And welcome!

Thanks Warm.

Peterson it sounds like you are doing great already.

And original I feel your pain. Another with gestational diabetes here so once I was diagnosed I tried to cut out sugar and high fat foods as much as possible and after giving birth was so happy to eat chocolate again I sort of went overboard! You're going to do great.

So first buggy fit class tomorrow for me. Wish me luck! Other than that a good day for me. Managed to swerve the tasty burger offerings at a lunch out today and opted for a chicken noodle dish instead.

Hope everyone's had a good day.

Reasonably good day here - managed to walk over 11,000 steps and weed my allotment for an hour. I had a little bit of polenta cake at lunchtime, but turned down cake at the baby group in the afternoon.

Tracking food at the moment feels daunting as have so little spare time, but think I can make a difference by cutting out most of the cheap I normally eat. My weight is so high right now it's taking an awful lot of calories just to maintain it!

Eagle polenta cake yum!
Sounds like you had a really active day. Hopefully once you have settled down with the new baby, it will all fall into place as the first few weeks are so tough!

peasant good luck for today's buggy fit class! Hope you and baby enjoy it!
Great job on avoiding temptation think we are winning half the battle just by making the right choice.

I have my son weigh in today. Will go for a swim and a quick 30 minutes run.

Food wise, I am not a breakfast person but lots of teas!
Will have a salad ( beetroot, avocado, boiled eggs, carrots, tomatoes, orange ) for lunch

Dinner will have mince meat cooked in vegetable with a pita bread

Will have a banana and water melon in between

Wishing you all a good day!
