none - you have to eat a heathy diet throughout your pregancy so you have a heathy baby.

Just don't eat for two.

dieting not a good idea, but definatly nothing wrong with healthy eating, plenty of water. Snack on fruit etc. During pregnancy it's a good idea to eat smaller meals anyway, and have 5 throughout the day. That combined with exercise shuold be totally fine

you need to put on weight when pregnant. including some extra fat ,

around 20 odd pounds of weight in total .which includes increased blood volume, the weight of placenta, baby, uterus, breasts, fluid and some fat.....

i'd do something under medical supervision, but unless you are already obese, i would just eat a healthy , balanced diet, fruit & veg, water & iron rich foods....

you need to put some weight on ! and it won;t all be fat.

I am classed as obese, before pg... I keep myself fairly active, walking etc whilst pg when not pg I play a lot of netball. I am normally a size 18 I know I need to gain some weight but with dd I put on 5stone.. think this was to do with long stay in hospital.. 8weeks before I had her 9 weeks in total.. and the steroids.. with ds I put on 3stone.. I do get bad odema to though that takes a few months to go away after the birth , maybe this counts ofr some of the weight..

Well continued Healthy eating it is then.....

Slimming World work have a link with the Royal College of Midwives or whatever they are called, and is fine to do when pregnant with your MW's approval.

Slimming World is perfectly safe during pregnancy. They have worked with the Royal College of Midwives to ensure this. If you are already obese then you do not need to gain any weight during pregnancy. I was at my lightest at 20 weeks, and despite gaining during the third trimester I was back at pre pg weight a week or so after the birth.

twoplusone hope this pregnancy goes well for you - I am hoping not to gain too much as I am 12 lb 5 and 5ft4, so far morning sickness has controlled my weight gain but I am going to have to make an effort now to eat more healthily. If you decide to take on a diet please post how it goes.

Twoplusone...slimming world is an excellent diet to do through pregnancy, it will ensure you get all your nutrients and you can eat plenty, it will just monitor your fat intake

There is no reason to eat for 2 while pregnant - but it is so easy to do!! And people encourage you to by telling you not to "diet".

You probably won't lose weight while you are pregnant but if the key is not to gain too much then and you can't do that on your own then you need the help of a structured plan.

Slimming World is fab for that. It shows how healthy the eating plan is actually that it is the only one you CAN follow during pregnancy.

I am 36 weeks pregnant and have put on 1 stone 10lbs since my booking in appointment at 10 weeks. I'm expecting to gain about 2 stone in total. Maybe more than you want to but I was at Target weight and within the healthy weight range for my height when fell PG so would expect to gain more than someone who is already obese.

I lost 2stone 8lbs with SW and have carried on going all through my pregnancy and its' been great. I gained 2.5 stone with my second pregnancy and was already overweight to start with so I've felt much more in control this time.

Also - having the support of SW meant that I didn't worry that I was cutting out essential foods or doing something unhealthy.

I would suggest joining a group - you do need to get the approval of your midwife.

The key is to go to group and be aware and keep an eye on it!
