Quickest and easiest way to lose 1 stone

frazzled74 · 23/04/2016 00:23

I know that quick weight loss isn't good but have a holiday coming up and really need a kick start. I could probably do with losing 3 stone altogether but would be happy with 2 .

The Blood Sugar diet works very quickly. In essence, no carbs and especially no sugar.

Thank you, I will google, i think that I can manage no carbs and sugar for a few weeks , then I will need a more long term diet option.

No carbs and no sugar is deathly! You mean "low" carbs and "low" sugar :-)

Good luck.

Low carb and high fat - have a look at biwi's threads. You need to stick to it though you chat dip in and out.

My fitness pal is awesome

Google 'cutting diets'. Wouldn't recommend loosing weight that quickly though- hardly any will be fat, so you may end up a lightly smaller but more wibbly person.

Thank you, I've downloaded my fitness pal and am aiming for 1300 calories per day low fat, low sugar. Plus swimming once a week and fitness class twice a week ! I will see how I get on .

Am using My Fitness Pal and have lost a stone in 6 weeks, on 1400 cals a day. Am thrilled but need to lose one more stone and think it'll get harder now (especially if I give in to the Wine as I have tonight). Good luck!

Don't forget to log your exercise and eat back some (I tend to do up to half) of your exercise calories.

I can't seem to log exercise , not sure what I'm doing wrong .

Just be careful about calorie counting.... Ensure the calories you do eat are wholesome and not junk, big difference in quality and what happens in your body.

I will join you! Although I am trying slim fast, so 250 calories and maybe a small meal like a salad or veg. I need fibre!

Instamum Shock
It's just junk.... Why not just eat real food? Couple of eggs and spinach or even a homemade smoothie?

Low carb does work fast, but as you say, is not a long term solution. I would try a strict low carb plan for 1-2 weeks and then gradually move on to a healthy eating plan instead - add the good carbs, i.e. brown rice, wholemeal pasta or soba noodles, replace milk chocolate with dark, cut down (or exclude) any sugar apart from fruit, exclude any white flour foods like bread, cakes, etc.

I am too lazy to cook and wash up!

Instamam - lol I'm lasy too, but by about day 7 on slimfast I was prepared to grow my own vegetables if that was the only way to get some real food. I loved the chocolate and coffee flavours for a few days, but in a day or two I was finding the smell revolting (tmi alert - I could swear even my pee smelled of it - gross)

5:2 fasting is very effective. Two days of under 500 cals each week. Eat normally the other 5. I actually stuck to 1400 on the other 5 but have lost 7 lbs in 3 weeks. I didn't have much to lose (BMI now 21) else I would probably have lost even faster.

Why on earth would you say low carb isn't a long term solution, Nata?! (Although it's academic, seeing as OP is going down the low fat route).

It's hard to low carb all the time, as the world isn't made for low carbers - the world is full of masses of sugar, through the medium of sandwiches, crisps, confectionery, muffins, etc - but it's perfectly doable, and a very healthy way to eat generally, as well as a satisfying way to lose weight.

BIWI - perhaps I should have added that for me it wasn't. I've been one of the "lurkers" on your threads for years, just never had the courage to join. I know that some people achieve excellent results with it. I tried really hard and it made me feel great, but the weight loss wasn't really there. My motivation lasted for about 2 months and then I gave up.

This is going back a few years, so I can't remember the specifics. Perhaps I'll lurk on your bootcamps some more and try it again :-)

Well tomorrow is day 1 , I'm having a grapefruit and 1 slice wholemeal toast with low fat Philadelphia for breakfast, chicken salad and an apple for lunch and jacket potato with prawns for dinner . Water and herbal teas for drinks . I haven't logged it with my fitness pal yet so not sure of the calories but I'm sure it will be well within the 1300 calories.

Good luck with that being a sustainable way to eat frazzled.

Frazzled can I join you??
I'm starting the James Duncan 10 day diet tomorrow to kickstart my 'Get back into size 12 trousers' - last worn 2 years ago and been in size 16s for the last year which are getting tighter!
I'm less bothered by number on the scale than huuuuge chin and v pregnant looking belly - youngest DC is nine years old :(
I know a little boost will help me loads so gonna give this a go then look at low carving or 5:2 from next week
Good luck to us! Xx

DD had a vomiting bug. Would you like to borrow her?

More seriously, I've been using MFP and have found it helpful. Also the support on www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/2570541-anyone-out-there-need-to-lose-a-stone

Instamum and minnymoobear , yes please join me. I ate my meal plan plus an instant porridge , a cup a soup and a banana for just under 1300 calories. I think that I will plan 3 meals then add in snacks as calories allow. I'm a size 16 but everything's feeling a bit tight. I would love to be a 12, would be more than happy with a 14 and if all else fails a looser 16!

yesterday was day one and I did it! Started James Duncan 7 day - and finally started t25 workout too! Got my DS to do workout with me - both struggled thru it but did all 25 mins and have said we'll do it together every day - nice bit of bonding :)
was 14.4 yesterday am and am 14.1 this morning - I totally know those numbers don't reflect real weight loss etc but will help to keep me at it!
Also got in my 2 litres of water yesterday - took a 500mlmbottle to work and drank and refilled it 3 times and then had a couple of glasses at home too - hard and lots of running to the loo- but I can do it!!
Head is hurting this mornin though :(
