Five weeks to lose one stone, anyone want to join me?

Guessinggame2016 · 12/04/2016 10:13

That's it really! Have had to start on tablets for high BP, I have underactive thyroid - taking Thyroxine and also have PCOS.
I am 40 in a few months.
I know it's harder for me to lose weight with the above conditions but surely it's not impossible. I've been doing SW for 6 months and lost 12 lb but have put 4 lb back on over Easter. Not possible to go to SW at the moment due to work/uni commitments and DH long working hours.
My plan is to lose one stone in five weeks initially.
Then another stone by my holiday in August.
Thinking of low carb, cutting out sugar and doing more exercise.

So, I weigh in today at....11 st 12.

Does any want to join me, or give any advice to help on low carb, sugar?

I don't need to join you but low carb/carb free is the way to go along with a mild increase in exercise.

Lots of luck! Flowers

Thank you. My main problem is zero willpower. I'm so busy with 3 kids, work and uni and when I get low I just grab chocolate! But no more excuses, I've just got to do this!

I will. I'm off work for 5 weeks, had surgery a week ago (underpinning Blush)

I'm not weighing in till tomorrow but hazard a guess at 10 stone 7. Am 44 and 5 foot 3 so am right at the top of my bmi - actually may be in the overweight category.

I can't do any exercise apart from pelvic floor haha so am a bit limited but determined.

After a high carb breakfast of porridge, all bran, linseed, almond milk and banana I'm thinking low carb from now on!

Also am interested in avoiding sugar but then I'd have to omit honey from my lunch of Greek yog and blueberries. Ain't nobody got time for that Grin

I will join you - we are the same age and weight (I go metric: 75 kg), with the same amount to lose - and I also have PCOS, though not your other issues. I've managed to lose a bit in recent years with doing WW points myself but it's crept back on and I seem to level out at this weight, which is just nudging BMI of 30. 10-12 kg more than I'd like to be, and mostly round my middle which I know is a health risk. My partner and children have dietary restrictions - eat a lot of refined carbs - and I need to prepare separate food if I want to lose weight.
My plan is food diary, reduce sugar/carbs, increase exercise. I'm making vegetable soup to freeze for lunches, and I went to zumba last night. Baby steps...

How do we do this? Do we treat this like a food diary? Share what we eat and what exercise we have done?

I'm in! FuckyNell I'm about the same as you in height and weight. I'm cutting out all sugar.

Brilliant!
Yes, I think if we just do a weekly weight in on a Tuesday?
Note what we've eaten, say if we're struggling and share any good tips?

I am ashamed to say I grabbed Quavers and a sausage roll when I got in from school run this morning! No more...it will be a healthy lunch. And I plan to go for a jog (fast walk!) later on.

Me, can I join you?

I have piled on the weight recently. I weighed myself the other day for the first time in a year (I don't keep scales in the house) and I was 11 1/2 stone. I have never been so big. I am 5' 4 and I have to face up to the fact that I am overweight.

I am using MyFitnessPal. Started last week, was doing well then had some shocking news and did some stupid comfort eating. But I am back on it now. Yesterday went well, was well under my calorie allowance plus did plenty of exercise.

Hi Treaclesoda, good luck. We're pretty similar in height and weight. None of my clothes fit me as I have never been so big either, end of last summer after an all inclusive holiday I was 12 st 6 but that was short-lived thankfully!

I just want to get back into all my nice clothes and feel less sluggish.

Hi! I have half a stone to get back to my happy weight-can I join? I've been pigging out on take always because of busy work, trying to sell our house and preparing for moving two hours away in the summer. I feel sluggish and wobbly which I hate. I'm 64.1kg this morning. Everything fits better at 60kg.

So far I've had a poached egg on granary toast for breakfast. Lunch is going to be a tuna salad, stir fry for tea.

Hi Purple, am thinking tuna salad for my lunch too!

Good luck!

I had a tuna salad for lunch. Usually I love a nice salad but today it has left me feeling deprived. I think it's because it is so cold and wet and dark. Dangerous times are upon me because I could easily reach for the tea and biscuits later. Must distract myself. Must distract myself...

Tuna with wholemeal pitta bread and pickled beetroot today. Weighing in at 10.8lb.

I ended up having some brown rice with chicken and spring onions for lunch. Needed something filling, had a busy day. Didn't really want to use the carbs but really need to go shopping to low carb, will go this evening!
Did an hour reasonably fast walk.
But ended up eating a packet of crisps DD opened, didn't want and passed to me. Did it without even thinking!!

Yes! Me!

I have 2.5 stone to lose to be a happy healthy weight. I am also flitting about with the Blood Sugar Diet, there is another thread somewhere which I have lost. So basically low carb and low calorie.

I am pretty active - do 7 - 10 hours of strong yoga per week and walk everywhere, but thinking about running or swimming twice per week on top if I can find time.

Welcome Hanyolo!
I'm sure I'd be better if I cut out the sugar, especially with PCOS.

Not sure if I'd manage a stone in 5 weeks but I'll give it a good try. I'm going on holiday in 8 weeks time and want to lose as much as possible by then.

I've been calorie counting on and off since having dd (now just turned 2) and have lost 3st since then. I'm currently 12.4 and would like to get down to 10st eventually Smile

I've been meaning to start C25K for weeks but I've got a recurring chest infection and keep getting ill so can't start running Sad

OK have made some Mediterranean fish stew for supper tonight. Yum!! DH can have lots of bread with it and I can easily fill up on the stew.

Can I join you? 5 weeks coincides with a weekend away I've got booked so that should help.

Currently 10.6 and 5'1" so it really shows and is getting me down. Need a massive dose of willpower, can't seem to stop picking. I lost a stone last year so got all new clothes and threw the old ones away so I'm a bit stuck now I've put it all on again.

That sounds lovely Skip!

Sunshine, hope you feel better soon. I have just downloaded C25K, was going to start tonight but have horrendous period pain so might have to start tomorrow.

Had brown pasta with chicken, pesto and olives for dinner, carbs again!

Going to go and clean the bathroom and en suite now to take my mind off food....

I'm keen. Have a stone to lose after having my last baby 6 months ago. Just finished breastfeeding and have a wedding in 5 weeks with lots of old school friends. Currently 10st 9, would like to be 9st something. Do plenty of exercise, mainly not losing weight because I eat LOADS of chocolate.
