HI all,
Other than fruit, which I eat alot of but don't find filling. What do you snack on between meals?

Hard boiled eggs or handful of walnuts or non salted almonds.

why would anybody want / need to snack between meals?

if you eat the right food 2 or 3 times a day, why would you need snacks?

Lots of reasons, TalkinPeace.

A few reasons:

To stabilise sugar levels
To prevent an all out binge
To have 5 small meals per day instead of 3 large and 2 small
To grow muscle on a muscle building plan
To lose fat on a cutting plan
Because they want to

Because sometimes people get hungry between meals....

I eat breakfast at 7am and lunch is around 12.30. Breakfast is not substantial enough to keep me going for 5.5 hours. Two nights a week I finish work at 8pm, not eating between lunch and getting home at 8.30pm. A snack would be great!

To stabilise sugar levels
Keep them low
To prevent an all out binge
self control is good
To have 5 small meals per day instead of 3 large and 2 small
medically discredited
To grow muscle on a muscle building plan
ditto
To lose fat on a cutting plan
ditto

Breakfast is not substantial enough to keep me going for 5.5 hours.
eat a better breakfast or none at all
not eating between lunch and getting home at 8.30pm.
no different from not eating at night

sorry but 90% of hunger is mental not physical

It may not be any different from not eating at night but I am usually asleep at night and have consumed enough calories throughout the day not to starve!
I started the thread for some advice. If you have none, please move on before I report you as a troll.

I'm not a troll
I've just spent years discovering that snacks are not good for you
much better to have all calories in 2 or three meals a day
for well proven medical reasons

The tone of your posts are rude and I asked for healthy snacks, not advice on whether or not I should snack. I struggle with food issues as in the past hunger has lead to binging which lead to making myself sick on a regular basis. For me snacks are good.

Talkin, what works for you may not for others! Have some respect and realise the world doesn't revolve around you.

talkin well aren't you useful. Why are you hanging around on weight loss boards being goady.

op I have a sweet tooth, I have invested in mini (good quality) treat sized chocolate bars (85 calories each), as attached. Also sweet and salty popcorn (62 calories per bag).

There is obviously more filling stuff, but food has to be enjoyed and satisfy cravings too.

What do you snack on?

I'm not sure that TalkinPeace is being particularly goady, at least not on this thread. There's a fair bit of evidence to show that in the past we didn't, as a nation, snack the way we do now. And look at our obesity levels now. There may not be a direct causative connection, but it's worth thinking about. I say this as someone who finds it extremely difficult to get through a day without snacking and I am also acutely aware that I haven't always snacked like this.

Hope, you are right, to an extent. Unfortunately we didn't always used to eat processed and refined foods either, causing drastic sugar spikes and drops... which call for more food. So there is a lot to change and a lot to answer for really. We just have to get through it the best we can, with the knowledge we have. Sometimes healthy snacks prevent an all out binge, people don't deal with emotional hunger and real hunger very well.

You can get 100kcal microwave popcorn packs now.
Pot of Natural yoghurt
Babybel
A cup of tea sometimes buys me a bit of time.
Mini rice cakes (from the kids section)
