Hi all. I know it's small but this is my third day on it. I'd normally have given up half way through the first.

This is important to me because although my mum wasn't overweight herself, she wanted us to give ourselves the best chance against cancer by being as healthy as possible. It's just a shame that if I do this properly and achieve a healthy weight she won't be here to see it.

Anyway, I did the first day of C25k on my treadmill just now, a Zumba DVD yesterday and 40 mins cardio at the gym the day before. I'm only intending to lose 1lb a week because I won't stick with it if I feel deprived. Should just about get me to my goal of 8.5st by the time I hit 40 next year!

I thought of the title ages ago, trimmer; was just itching to use it! Grin

I have a vile cold and a throat that feels like I'm swallowing razor blades, so am staying at home today. Lovely DH has taken DD into nursery, and will pick her up this evening, even though he has to go a long way out off his way to and from work, the star. Halo I still need to get work done though, bleh...

Welcome to the newbies, and here's hoping all the oldies follow us onto the new thread...

Mornin Brew

lastqueenofscotland welcome Smile 2lb a week sounds doable, and you have an incentive with your holiday.

Error hope you feel better soon, I can imagine you really don't feel like doing work. What course are you doing at uni?

Nothing much to report here, going to yoga this evening, planning on shred this afternoon and a 10 minute dvd called flat belly fast (would need liposuction! Grin).

Does anybody have any ideas for healthy evening meals that won't send my calorie count through the roof and can feed whole family? I get dinner on the table every evening and dh and dc love macaroni cheese, home made pizza etc. Last week after my yoga class I came in and woofed down too much home made pizza. Also 2 of us are veggies (but I eat fish, the other veggie, ds, doesn't) and dd and dh eat meat. Meatballs work really well, as I make a tomato sauce and divide half with sweedish quorn balls and half with meaty meat balls. Finding it a bit challenging. The idea is to just have small portion of mac cheese for instance - but it is just so yummy!

Bit fed up with sts since half term - have increased exercise this week, feels like I put myself through a bootcamp yesterday, so hope it helps! I think it's having the effect of pummelling everything in, so tape measure at the ready - I will actually be happy if scales stay the same but inches shift, because that is what matters.

Have good day all Smile

Hi everyone.

I have just come back from the gym - only 30 minutes on the treadmill but I was putting the incline up with each minute so it was quite exhausting. I was doing well yesterday, but then had a chicken wing binge in the afternoon. So today for breakfast I had a banana smoothie and a slice of grainy toast with a boiled egg and it has kept me full.... I am going to take this as a lesson to eat a good but healthy breakfast. Lunch will be a chicken salad sandwich and 2 plums. We are out tonight for dinner at the pub. The pub does plain steak with salad which might be my choice.

Good evening meals, GettinTrimmer - frittatas? Good hearty soups with a side of bruschetta with assorted toppings? I really love lean grilled fish/lam/chicken and salads and vegetables. Heart pies sans pastry for you? Looking with interest at what people come up with also.

2 pound a week weight loss..... I am going to make that my aim also. I was (briefly) on a diet that 'guaranteed' a 30 pound loss in 6 weeks. I lasted 2 days before ordering pizza from pizza hut and going wild. Hmm . So yes I need to keep my focus on eating normally, eating well and taking note of any potential triggers.

I am aiming for a 3 pound weightloss next week. I am going to focus on that and nothing else.(i.e. not the whole 43 pounds I need to lose) So, loads of fruit and vegetables, and exercise. I think my gym is open today, so I plan 30 minutes on the treadmill where I increase the incline every minute up to 18 minutes in then decrease. I am also going to add in 5 minutes bike. (yep, I am that unfit!!!!)

Food;

B - banana and berry smoothie
L- minestrone and a crusty roll, no butter, 2 pieces fruit
D- chicken casserole- small portions, loads of vegetables and a small portion of rice.

Hope everyone else is recording lovely losses. :)

STS
Disappointed as after a gain last week. Though this week (only past 4 days) I have discovered my fitness pal! I realise I'm probably the last person in the whole world to catch on to it but it's brilliant. I've found the way it counts your steps really motivating and I like how you can see your protein/carbs/fat etc. So hoping if I stick with it I'll see results- it's been telling me I'm on target each day. I am a bit bunged up so hoping that explains the lack of loss.
Trimmer I'm veggie too. I find courgetti v useful- can make quorn bolognese with normal pasta for dh and courgetti for me. Omelettes always good with big side salad. Stir fry with ginger/chilli/garlic and tofu or quorn. I really like Anna Jone's cookery books too- healthy but not 'diet' food.

Morning! First time since half term, I am delighted to say - I have lost weight. 1lb. Feel a bit bloated though this morning can't work out why.

Going away for easter to stay with sil, it will involve chocolate and booze!

GBBO thanks for suggestions, I'll pick up some courgetti, I think Saintsbury do it. I am thinking of looking into fitbits, glad MFP is helpful.

Slim I agree with focusing on small goals. I've increased my exercise too enjoy gym today. I am thinking of joining Sports Direct gym near me, its a!of cheaper than my local leisure centre.

Jelli I seem to have turned I to DVD flirt mixing Jillian with Davina and another flat belly fast one! how's it going?

Morning!

0.6lb loss today Smile

Congrats trimmer, and *GBBO, if you're on target for exercise and are eating healthily, then the sts is probably just bloat/bunged-upness. You're not the last person to discover myfitnesspal; I've heard of it but never looked into it! Might do now though.

trimmer, I'm studying Art History, so colossal amounts of reading involved! Loving it though Grin

Good luck to all other weigher-inners for today!

GBB I find it so challenging getting family meal on the table every evening, can't go low fat for ds (nearly 14) as he is very slim, I worry he's not getting enough protein/carbs. He was refusing to take lunch to school at one point, I played it down (teenagers, they do the opposite of what we want - enjoy while they are little!!) and went with it even though I was worried, and he now will take a cheese roll and nuts. Tofu is a good idea, will get some today.

Beautiful day here, but ton of washing to do, house looks like a tip and looks dingy to me - needs decorating. I am no DIY person!

I really don't want to gain over Easter. I will take just one day 'off' on Easter Sunday though when this Chocolate will be involved!

Keep going everyone, it will pay off.

Morning All!

Ive had a very wobbly week thrown off by my lack of motivation for my essay last week, consequent;y turning in a poor essay. Hmmm. Need to get a grip ..... DS and girlfriend have been here with me (I am normally 'home alone' and have full control over exercise and diet decisions) so as a result I have only exercised a couple of times and diet has been a little wobbly but not bad. I guess that has been my saviour.

Somehow, results this week are a 1lb loss and a half cm here and there so all is not lost. I desperately need to re-motivate though both course work and exercise (i have resisted the lone hot cross bun in the kitchen that DS and DGF left though (they are away this weekend)

Am weighing and measuring early this weekend as i am getting away from it this weekend to see ILs, DParents, DD and Dbro, and will struggle to stay to my 'rules' however it is just two days and will be ok in the long term. Its one of those things, i wont die of a hot cross bun (i just chose not to eat the one here Grin)

I need to dash as i am late already (should have left 7 mins ago and i need a shower Shock) so no individual messages from me now. Stay strong everyone, and forgive yourself if you wander a little from the path, we'll catch up with ourselves in due course!!!
