I am a disgustingly huge size, to the point where I don't even want to say. I have tried to diet a thousand times and always fail, but this time I am gonna stick to it. So this thread will hold me accountable for what I eat. This time I am going on the "diet" diet. No more huge portions and thousands of bad for you snacks. I will try to eat well. Lots of water, fresh fruit and some (urgh) veg. Trying to cut back carbs (I love sandwiches and pasta salads) and mostly eat plants and protein.

I have started well. 2 Satsuma's for breakfast (love em & not a breakfasty person)
Salady thing for lunch (wafer thin chicken, lots of carrot sticks, some cherry yuk tomatoes, low fat pineapple cottage cheese and some pickled beetroot - well away from the cottage cheese.)
Gonna do a walking dvd in a bit.
Fat- it is on and you are going down!

Good luck, you sound very determined!

But don't be too hard on yourself if you get hungry, what you describe soens't sound like enough to keep you going. I suggest you stay away from the white carbs and focus on good fats and protein to keep you satiated. if you have a salad, have it with avocado, tinned fish and a good salad dressing with proper virgin olive oil. Have your carbs with your evening meal, it will make you feel satisfied. Go for mash potato with butter, rice or root veg. Have a square of dark chocolate for dessert.

I did sort of have a large plate quite filled up but mainly veggy stuff and only a few slices of wafer chicken. Which (I think) is ok because its mostly veg. I will have a fruit snack later as well before I pick up the kids.

Tea is pulled pork wraps with rice and sweetcorn on the side. (kids don't like their rice in the wrap, and there isn't many veg they eat.)
On the one hand I want to go full gung ho and have rabbit food. On the other hand "diet" diet is eating properly but with less carbs so on the other hand I am thinking have a couple of wraps with Mexican rice and sweet corn on the side. But I think one of the reasons I keep failing is because i do go gung ho
So maybe less restrictions will be more effective.

Really good luck to you! I have never hated salad or veg, but since trying to be really healthy since New Year, I find myself salivating thinking about eating it. Never thought that would happen!

Misscph has some great tips. I do things slightly different which is so far working for me. I have my starchy carbs in the morning - one slice of toast. I then just eat protein and non processed carbs in vegetables for the rest of the day (not potatoes). I am genuinely not feeling hungry and seems to control my carb cravings which caused me to fail at completely low carb eating. I have so far lost two stone. Aiming for one more, maybe one and a half.

Out of interest, have you looked at the vlcd Blood Sugar Diet, as that gets very quick results apparently and a high success rate.

Keep checking in with this thread, as I reckon it will help motivate you.

I will join you!! I feel as determined as you at the moment - this is day 2 and I HAVE to lose at least 2.5-3 stone. I am the biggest I am ever been and feel so upset about it. I think (sorry obsess) about it every morning, noon and night. My husband is exasperated at how I go on and on and on and do nothing about it. Quite rightly he says if I spent as many calories doing something about it rather than talking about it I would have been slim ages ago!

My biggest issue is the booze, if I can get rid of that I can really cut down the carbs but when I keep throwing pure sugar down my neck is hardly surprising I then eat badly. I am going low carb as it works - I lost 2 stone doing that before but giving up smoking 13 months ago has piled it on again!

Good luck to us both

I think you are being too sore on yourself - if you are very overweight then cutting out snacks and eating sensible portions, no seconds that should see you drop weight easily. Try to eat veg because your body needs some good stuff to keep it working properly, you'll grow to love the taste and try to exercise because it does wonders for your health whether you lose weight or not.

I have been on a healthy kick recently after years of this diet and that diet losing more £ than lbs, decided enough was enough probably had 4.5 stone to lose to get to healthy BMI. At the moment overweight rather than obese is my goal, to date I have lost 20lbs. I have done it simply and cheaply, by eating sensibly and moving more. I track my calories using myfitness pal, free and the bar scanning part if great for logging calories and wearing a fitness band and aiming for 10K steps a day, cost £12 and I find it great, though I don't sleep enough !! I an finding looking at calories and portion size is really helpful, you soon find how to get the biggest calorie bang for your buck and how skewed your portion sizes are.
