Mumsnet Mamas Week 21

Morning everyone.

I have just worked out that if I keep up my average weight loss of 2lbs per week, I will have lost 2 stone by the time I go on holiday. That is only 7lbs off my target.

If that is not motivation to keep going, then I don't know what is.

That would be great MB! You can do it!!! Think how good you would feel!

I've only been doing this 2 wks, and am very pleased with the weight I've lost, (though still a long way to go). But I generally feel pretty lousy: lethargic, grumpy, tired, lank hair, etc. I thought I should be feeling great. Is there anything I can do to give myself a boost? Any ideas?

(Btw I am following all the guidelines: plenty of water, plenty of fruit/veg, plenty of calcium, etc.)

That's really good Mb roisin have a nice pampering session at home - also I have jsut started 7 hour sleep routine feel much less lethargic (go to bed and get up 7 hours later regardless of any interuptions during the night) seems to be working

i am on week 4, and i am v v worried that this will be the first week that i don't lose anything (and motivation plummets...what's the point, i'll eat a packet of pringles and a pound of cheese and have done with it etc etc). first week that i'm minus points (-3.5) as had a terrible weekend (guests, pavlova, cheese etc etc). i am frightened of weighing myself on tuesday morning!

roisin · 23/05/2004 22:21

Thanks gothicmama ... actually I think I'd die if I only got 7 hrs sleep (I normally get more like 9!) Does it really work?

Report
gothicmama · 23/05/2004 22:37

Seems to be I feel much better for it - I read it somewhere as a cure for depression I'll try anything now chocolate is out of the question too many points

HI Guys have joined and am doing monthly measurements. Am trying hard to keep motivated but maybe the monthly measurments need to be weekly. I feel a month is a long time didnt want to weigh myself as I knew I would get depressed and give up. Am still at the gym and working hard and know I am losing but maybe need more motivation in the form of a weekly check.

hang on in there sophable, I feel like that all the time and I often have bouts of oh sod it, I am having loads of cheese on toast, followed by a bag of crisps (bugger, just made myself hungry!) but it passes. And so what if you don't lose weight one week? Just keep going, it will come off!
Good luck in the morning

Keep going sophable x

I've stayed the same for the last couple of weeks but I'm definitely doing some exercise this week

And I'll post on Friday with at least 1lb loss

Heathcliffscathy · 25/05/2004 09:34

3/4 lb......better than nothing and am not going to go and buy pringles and cheese...which is a good thing...thanks for support ladies

Report
Demented · 25/05/2004 13:00

3/4lb is good Sophable, I think they say 1 to 2lbs a week is a healthy way to lose (except of course the first couple of weeks). Well done!

BTW I find not buying Pringles is a good move, one pop and you'll eat the lot! I struggled on Friday as they were down to 88p for a big tube in Iceland, my hand went to the shelve a couple of times to pick up a tube but I didn't do it, thankfully. I don't sleep well after a tube of Pringles, they give me terrible heartburn and I think a whole tube is about 20 points or so.

I don't know how I'll do this week, my loss has definately slowed down but then I suppose that is to be expected, going to keep plodding on though. Going on holiday in October and Coddy's bikini thread is making me think, would be quite nice to wear one this year.

Not having a good day.... Got told in work that they're changing some of the working practices, as of tomorrow, which basically means I can't ever be away from my desk between 8 and 6 (so not even the chance of a walk at lunchtime), and can't, even occasionally, work from home any more.

Oh and at the new office I have to go to twice a week, which has 100% male employees, there isn't a ladies loo (well there is but it's in a section of the building we don't have access to as it's leased to another company) - so that'll put the kybosh on the drinking lots of water thing for those days.

And then got home to find that dh has started on the sabotage campaign and thrown out all the food he "disapproves of" - anything vaguely resembling fresh fruit, veg, fish or which claims to be low-cal or low-fat. And he's been cooking fried sausages and moaning at me for being unappreciative of his efforts when I say I don't want to eat them. Grrrr.

roisin · 25/05/2004 18:56

Oh huge commiserations LunarSea - esp. on the non-supportive dh bit. That sounds completely out of order to me. I'm lucky in that dh and I are both dieting, but even if he weren't I would expect him to try and be supportive. Is it not possible to talk to him and get him on side?

PS My dh has lost 17.5 lb in 3 weeks on WW - I'm really proud of him (He has got a lot to lose, but it's a terrific start.)

, sounds rough Lunarsea. Don't know much about employment law but I didn't think you would be allowed to work those hours without a proper break and I also thought that if a company had over a certain amount of employees they had to provide separate toilets for men and women. May be worth starting a thread about it, someone may be able to help more, it doesn't seem right.

Doesn't sound like your DH is being very fair either.

Report
gothicmama · 25/05/2004 20:40

Lunarsea you have the right to a twenty min break after 4 hours (5 mins for every hour but have to be there for 6hrs)Well done Roisin's DH and everyone

Report
LunarSea · 25/05/2004 23:12

Thanks all. Trouble is they are not actually saying "no breaks" as such - but we are being set team targets of responding to/acknowledging any request within 15 minutes, on pain of no payrises and possible disciplinary action if the targets aren't met. I happen to be a team of one though, so there's no-one to cover if I take any breaks.
