I think I'm addicted to sugar. I sometimes have two pieces of cake a day, chocolate, sugar in my coffee, so tomorrow I'm Cutting sugar completely out of my diet, for 5 days to start with the then ill take it from there.
Has anyone does this? Did you get any side effects? Anyone want to join me?

I am halfway through a Whole30 which cuts sugar out, amongst other things (although not fruit sugar). I think the reason it is doable is because I am eating lots of fat. If you are satisfied by the fat you don't crave sugar.

By fat I mean olive oil/coconut oil/the fat that comes on meat etc.

Good luck!

I've just done the whole of January sugar free and it was really hard for the first week, OK the second and now I have chocolate/sweets in for the kids and don't even think about it.

I was a complete sugar monster and thought I couldn't do it but have, I had quite bad withdrawal symptoms like a headache and the shakes but with plenty of water they went.

Good luck Grin

I've previously done sugar free and started again three weeks ago. I had a couple of days of headaches but no other symptoms, which is quite surprising really as I'd been eating really badly since before Christmas. Good news is that by day 3 I was sleeping better and I've lost at least 3 lbs (not sure exactly as I was too scared to weigh myself the first week! I'm hoping for another 20 so quite a long way to go though!

One thing I've found really helpful this time is to cook lots of new things for dinners so I feel more satisfied. I've been stealing ideas off the Dorothy Camper blog. She posts her meal plan for the week every Sunday afternoon and that's when I do my shopping list.

Also, I should mention that I have much more energy and don't feel sleeping in the afternoons/evenings?

This is probably a stupid question, but what do you class as sugar free? Sweets, biscuits, cakes, etc? Cereals (they've always got tons of sugar in? Bread, pasta, etc?

I need to do something about my sugar intake! I could do sweets and cake and sweetener in my coffee, I'm not sure I could do pasta and rice though. It features a lot in my meal plans.

I'm trying to only have whole grain rice and pasta (the brown stuff!) as the white pretty much acts the same as sugar in your body. I eat porridge with frozen berries for breakfast (yes, most cereals are junk) and very little bread as it makes me feel sleepy.
