30 Day Shred

MorelloKisses · 07/01/2016 13:51

Hi all, I know this has been done many times before, but wondered if anyone wants to join me on the 30 day shred. I started today.

I am not particularly overweight but have 6lb that I'm happier without, and can (and will) shift with MFP, but my main issue is toning, shape etc. I'm 36 and have a 2 yr old DD and it is starting to take its toll.

I want to be confident in a bikini for June, and am starting with the shred.

It is hard, and I'm going to need help to stick to it.

Hi Morello, I would like to join. I have 15lb to loose, i won't do it in 30 days but I think this could be achievable by summer...hopefully.☺

Hello Lyn, do you have the 30 Day shred DVD, if not it is on YouTube.

I did Level 1 today and nearly died, but it was a bit like childbirth...20 mins later and I have forgotten quite how much it hurt.

My DP says that the only time I will realistically get to do it, is in the morning, which means setting my alarm. I'm a bed lover with an exhausting 2 year old and I work full time, so I really need some friends on this thread to make sure I do it!

Hi Morello, I have just tried it on youtube, and its really good.
I did try in the past the Insanity one and couldn't finish as it was way to hard... This one is hard but feasible...
I have done level 1, are you supposed to do level 2 and 3 after or can you stick to 1?
I will do it in the afternoon as I am also working full time but starting early and finishing early... I am motivated to stick to it :)

Hello I started the 30 day shred again yesterday.
I did it this time last year for the first time and did it every day for the 30 days but this time round I am planning 5 days on and 2 off.
I was an unfit couch potato when I did it before and ended up really toned and strong by the end of the 30 days. I thought I was going to die the first few times I did it and every time it went up a level but it's amazing how quickly you adapt.

Although I'm much fitter now I still felt sore after level 1 yesterday and struggled with the strength parts today. The cardio I find easier.

Lyn, you are 'supposed' to do it every day, 10 days at each level = 30 days.

MrsW, I was thinking the same thing...taking the weekends off, or a couple of days next week as I am traveling to NY for work.

My first real test will be tomorrow - L1D2, not the actual exercise but the getting out of bed to do it!

Hello all, could I join you please? I've been doing the 30DS over Christmas and have really enjoyed it. Now thinking of ordering "ripped in 30" to try something new. It would be nice to have the company of some fellow Jillian followers Smile

Can I also recommend Jillian's 'banish fat boost metabolism' DVD
It's much the same as the shred but no weights and its 6 minute circuits so it's good if you're short of time as you can choose individual circuits or do the whole 40 min dvd.

Hello all,

I was up at 7 and did day 2. Hooray.

I also stuck to my MFP calls and walked 35 mins home from work. I'm totally knackered now though and can't move from the couch!

Ellen, how does ripped compare to shred?

MrsW, that is a good recommendation, I recon afte shred (assuming I can keep going) I'll need 3 other 'programmes' before my beach holiday...

Good stuff shredding this morning Morello! Apparently level 1 of ripped is approximately equivalent to level 2 of 30ds. I've not tried it yet but will report back when i do.

Mrs W - is banish fat all cardio or does it include strength? And how much jumping is there? I am getting worried about my poor floor boards!

Are you all wearing trainers to do the shred? Please please do! I did it bare foot for a couple of weeks and ended up with really sore knees and ankles (sorry if that is obvious to everyone else - maybe I was particularly foolish!)

I'm working nights at the moment so got up at 5pm and shredded before work. Bit knackered now but I did help to wake me up.

ellen banish fat doesn't have as much jumping as level 3 of shred and it does have strength but uses your own body weight as resistance rather than weights. There is cardio too. Sometimes it feels like the exercises aren't doing much at the time but you feel it in the muscles later. It's 30 second intervals of each exercise too which makes it seem a bit easier so you have 30 seconds each of 5 or 6 moves then repeat to make up the 6 min circuit.

Up at 7 and did day 3, woohoo

Funny you should say about trainers, I am currently doing it in 'fashion trainers' which don't give enough support, I'd already planned a trip out to get some proper sports ones today.

All systems are go!

Day 4 of level 1 for me and I'm finding it much easier already. Almost tempted to move to level2 tomorrow but I think it will be better to do 10 days of each level.
Well done morello getting up and doing it at 7!
I have been doing it barefoot as I only have running trainers. I hurt my ankles last time doing it barefoot so I'm going to buy a cheap pair of 'indoor' trainers tomorrow.

Good going Mrs W and Morello Smile

Mrs W - I was the same, did it barefoot because my running trainers were caked in mud and I didn't want to bring it in to the house! Banish fat sounds good.. Maybe I'll get both Hmm

I got up to day 7 before Christmas and then have stopped. I am restarting today but will have to take a break due to a skiing trip on Sunday for a week.

I'm hoping day 1 is not going to kill me today as it did the first time I tried it!!
However, I also have banish fat which I have never done so may do that this week and start the shred when back form holiday...decisions decisions Grin

Having just reread the 'Banish Fat' reviews I will stick to the shred Grin

Hello everyone. How are you all doing.

I've done day 4 and 5, so 100% record so far. I've just landed in NY so this is the big test (for exercise and eating)

I ate ok in the journey, and plan to exercise first thing.

I have been consistent up to last night when I pulled a muscle in my leg... :(
I will probably start again tomorrow as I want a little rest to make it better...

Its been ok so far apart for yesterday but I am really rubbish at push ups.
Good luck for exercising in NY. Maybe if you eat to much you can do 2 sessions :)

Oh wow, have a fantastic time in NY Morello Smile

I finished a run of 7 night shifts on Sunday night/Monday morning, then went for early morning drinks with my team. Needless to say, I skipped shredding on Monday Grin

Still feel pretty rotten and jet lagged today.. Determined to exercise later, but might be kind to myself and drop back to level 1 (have previously been alternating between level 2 & 3)

PS, hope your leg is better soon Lyn. Definitely give it some time to heal.

Lyn - get well soon, don't start back to soon

Ellen, how are you feeling, are you back at it yet

All going good here in NY. Jet lag has had me up at 4.30 - 5 am, so horrific, but plenty of time to shred before work (using bottles of wine instead of weights!). I've also managed to eat within calls so far and drink plenty of water.

Turns out that child free time is really easy to look after myself. So I revise my previous thoughts, the test will be next week when I'm back at home, with a toddler and a full time job!

Day seven of shred done this morning and I'm feeling good

Hello all,

Well, I'm still in NY and just about to do day 8, but there was one largish meal last night (with work) - actually not that large, I had a prawn salad followed by salmon with lentils, but I picked at the desserts, and hadn't meant to... I also had a gin and tonic, 3/4 glass of wine and a totally unnecessary vodka shot (I really didn't expect the group to do shots!)

Anyhow it did help me sleep in later, and I was well hydrated (I've been drinking loads of water),no hangover as such, but do feel more delicate than I'd like.

I'm just going to get right back on it...it wasn't that bad after all!
