I read that article yesterday, and the science - although it seems to be at an early stage of research - is interesting. So I might try and incorporate a few more of the sirtuin stimulating superfoods into my diet, but there is zero chance of me making and consuming a green juice up to three times a day so I don't think I'll be going the whole hog. I'll mostly stick with eating a bit less and moving a bit more.

A reply! I was deafened by the silence and the tumble weed! I'm not planning on doing the 3 juices a day either - too hardcore for me, esp as I'm still BF DD, but I'm def going to make a point of incorporating some sirt superfoods and I might try the juice once a day.

I saw it too and was tempted but I don't have a juicer and don't fancy buying one only to give up after 2 days.

I saw this and came to see if there was a thread about it.
Could I use my very good blender rather than a juicer out would that not work?

I am currently munching my way through a very thick concoction made in my blender. It has taken about 20 mins to eat and DH had been dispatched to find the old juicer I believe is in the garage.

This version can be made in a blender. Scroll down to the bottom.

Sounds delicious bostin
There are olives and capers in my lunch salad and I have a pack of miso soup if I feel peckish later on.
I stock up on stuff for the smoothies next time I go shopping and give my blender a go.

I read this too, thinking 'yuk, green sludge'. But I have just had an online order delivered and kale was on special offer. I have a bagful the size of a pillow! So I will be doing a few experiments to add these foods to my diet but won't be following the whole thing, too prescriptive for my liking.

For those who cba to read the article, the sirt super foods are listed as:

Buckwheat
Capers
Celery
Chilli
Chocolate
Coffee
Extra virgin olive oil
Green tea (ideally matcha)
Kale
Lovage
Medjool dates
Parsley
Red chicory
Red onion
Red wine
Rocket
Soy
Strawberries
Turmeric
Walnuts

I've just started the diet today having read the article and bought the kindle book for a little more detail. I'm trying to stay true to the instructions of three juices a day for the first three days - it's going to be tough, especially as I'm working away this week, so will need to do a whole load of food prep to pack in the suitcase! I find the juice itself quite tasty but you need to be careful with quantities - heavy handedness with the kale measure makes for quite a strong tasting drink!
I don't have a juicer but made the recipe from the Times using a Nutribullet and then ran it through a sieve to get rid of the pulp (I always thought all that fibre was meant to be good for you?!). Very happy to keep you updated with progress - at the moment I'm pretty famished and longing for my prawns and noodles for dinner!

Yes, I was wondering why juice the stuff, why not just eat it?

I couldn't get all the ingredients to make the tea today but will start tomorrow with the new juicer I just bought. Am about to make the first prawn and buckwheat noodle recipe though !

I want to do this too.

It sounds quite manageable food wise. It's all stuff I like. DH is on board too (not sure how rigdly he will stick to it though)

I even ordered a Nutri Ninja on Saturday in anticipation! :) (QVC had them on as TSV)

So, the Nutribullet is a blender rather than a juicer, is that right?
I'm wondering if I should get one or if my Waring will do. Aldi also has an offer on something they call a "slow juicer" this week. I won't be able to go shopping until Thursday the earliest but I really want to try out the various juice recipes.
I like pretty much all of the food on the list, even buckwheat.

I already have a nutribullet , but since this diet is so big on juice , I decided to get a juicer - ordered from John Lewis £59- Phillips compact viva- seemed to have good reviews .

The first prawn recipe was very tasty and filling - my buckwheat noodles stick together though . I have researched and found that you should rinse them in cold water immediately on draining to stop that

I haven't got a juicer. I just tried kale, celery, parsley, half an apple, juice of half a lemon and a bit of water whizzed in my blender and it was surprisingly ok. Ate it with a teaspoon rather than drank it, but reckon the fibre is good for me?

Are juicers worth the money? Will this be more than a passing fad.....?

I am on the first day today! I'll be honest, having read all the stuff about not feeling hungry, I was cynical. And I was right to be. I am absolutely starving! All I have had today is a cup of tea, a cup of coffee and 2 of the 3 green juices. I knew the first day would be hard and I have done 5.2 before, so used to fasting, but for some reason fell for the hype that I would not feel hungry. Have been at work since 7.30am though and won't get home until about 6 to eat the prawn thing I made last night. had meant to bring some to eat for a bit of lunch to tide me over but was late setting off for work and forgot. If I did not have a meeting at 2 I would have gone home and come back to get it! I do not know how I can keep going through three more meetings -have a splitting headache too which I always get if I don't eat regularly.
Will stick to it though and will report back how it goes. First day is always the hardest right?

So you're meant to juice rather than blend? Damn.

My nutri Ninja just arrived so will have to use it. Mine will be green smoothies I suppose.

Could not find buckwheat or buckwheat noodles in sainsburys. Got some spelt spaghetti - figured that would have to do until can get to a health food store

Soba noodles are buckwheat and Saintsbury's had them with the Asian stuff.

What's the reason for juicing rather than blending/nutribulleting? Presumably the latter is actually healthier - if it's just to do with creating a more drinkable juice rather than a puree then I will think about using a blender anyway.

It's worth keeping an eye out for Lidl'd Polish specials week, they sometimes have buckwheat cereals and grains then.
Don't know why the emphasis on juice, maybe all those kale stalks are unpleasant in a smoothie.

I am finding the green juice difficult and by dinner time today I was very hungry. The prawn dish yesterday was nice but am not enjoying day two - the capers and cauliflower couscous aren't very nice

Hi guys, I did day 1yesterday and didn't eat until nearly 8 pm by which time I was very grumpy as I had missed 1 juice as forgot to bring it with me. On the upside though, I was nearly 2pounds lighter this morning😮. Have got through day 2 better with all juices, and supper was ok, but not as good as day 1. Does anyone know when the chocoalte and red wine are allowed, as I reckon I will manage a week fine, especially as tmrw is last day with just 1 meal, but will probably need to add the odd treat for maintenance 2 weeks.

I think you can have 15 g of the dark chocolate now - each day of the diet . I had mine with a cup of coffee. Only managed two glasses of the juice though .
