Right, first time here but long time lurker. I have 2 stone to lose and a holiday booked for Feb half term. I know I won't lose it all by then but I'm going to make a good start. Anyone want to join me to share tips, success stories?

Hi, another long time lurker here, but am in desperate need of motivation and support. I've been losing and putting on the same 7ish pounds for the last yearBlush. I recently lost 8pounds through hard work and dedication for a big family event, it was a very noticeable loss and I got lots of nice comments, and felt great. But i've since put most back onBlush. I'm just lazy and am an emotional eater too.

I'm a stone over weight but want to lose 2 to 2 and a half stone. I set myself small goals, as I find my weight loss is more achievable. I have a lot of family events in the next 6 months, so I've no excuses to stay motivated. My first goal is to reach 11st for my brothers wedding mid February. After that i've my dads 60th, which will be a huge party. Then my mums hens party end of April, my anniversary the end of May and I hope to reach my goal by early June in time to fit into a bridesmaid dress for my mums wedding.

I won't be starting today though as i've already eaten about four bars of chocolateChocolate. But hard at it from tomorrow. NO MORE EXCUSES!!!Grin

I have recently lost almost 2 stone, most of it within the last 3 months. Having been overweight since my mid-twenties (now 49) I have somehow developed will power. It started when someone made a comment about me having a nice bum (blatantly untrue but never mind). For some reason this made me starting thinking about myself differently and something just clicked - maybe there was a good figure somewhere under all the flab. I stopped eating cakes, chocolate, biscuits etc almost completely. I started using the juicer I had rashly bought months before and had vegetable juice and fruit for lunch every day with toast for breakfast and a normal tea (smaller portion than usual). The difference to the way I feel and look is amazing - I have a waist again and a flatt(ish) stomach, I can buy clothes that I look okay in and have rediscovered an interest in shopping (very bad for my bank balance though!) It is a cliche but feeling thinner feels better than any food tastes and I have much more energy as a result. I do still crave cake and bread sometimes but generally it has been much easier than I thought it would be - just wish I had done it 20 years ago! Don't want this to sound like a gloaty post but if I can do it with my cake and bread habit anyone can.

Thanks vodka, that's not gloating at all. I know that for me a lot is to do with will power. I

Hello, I'd like to join!

Last year I lost three stone, but this year I've put two back on Sad
I need to lose 3 and a half stone to reach a healthy weight, but I'd love to lose four altogether. It's so annoying that I got so close last year and then put almost all of it back on!

Hoping joining a thread where we all report back will keep me motivated and on track. Feel free to guilt trip me into behaving!

Hi, I've about a stone to lose - Christmas has been amazing lol

Will be starting my detox diet on the 4th Jan as still have a few things planned (will be more mindful of what I'm eating though!)

I'd like it off by the end of January so would be great if can join - never done this before either!!

Can I join too? I've got almost 2 stone to lose. Am starting on 1st Jan and will weigh in every Friday.

Am planning to make sure I do my 10,000 steps every day, run/jog 3x a week and cut out all biscuits, sweets, chocolate and crisps.

Good luck everyone!

So I'm now changing on Jan 1st rather than tomorrow! My aim is 2 stone but know it will be a gradual process. I'm going to be following the 5 2 diet as it's worked for me in the past

I'll join. I need to lose 10kg (about 1.5 stone) ideally. Though 8 or so would do.

Well I'm about to have my last supper! Going to enjoy a nice meal tonight in preparation for the diet tomorrow. I know it's ridiculous and I should really start now, but psychologically it feels better!

Sorry for your loss twinkle. My dad passed away on Christmas Eve. I'm not one to go off my food in times of heartache. I've been eating everything in sight. Have gained 2 stone in the last 18 months. Stress and comfort eating. Think I start a new diet every day. I've downloaded nutracheck and put on my Fitbit again. Plan is 1500 calories per day and one hour exercise per day- gym or walking in the fresh air. Good luck everyone.

Sorry for your loss twinkle Flowers
It's still really early days so be kind to yourself.

I had quite a good first day in that I ate a lot less than normal. We were out at lunchtime and the only food on offer was burger and chip type things so I decided to have nothing. So I only had breakfast (toasted bagel) and dinner (roast veg fajitas). I didn't have any snacks which are normally my downfall.

I went to bed feeling a bit hungry, but in a good way. I'm telling myself that hunger is good and means my body is starting to burn off the fat. Let's hope so!

I'm following a book by Dr Eades that I found at my parents house last week! It's not Protein Power but 'lose your middle age belly in 6 weeks' or something.
3 protein shakes a day and one meal (which ever meal you want). Have been following it since Monday and lost 4lb.
I make the protein shakes with powder and add berries and water. They really keep me full.
I lost weight with SW after dc2 but wanted to do something this time that takes away any choices/cooking/weighing.

How is everyone doing (those who have already started)? I'm on day 7 of the 30 day shred and cutting down on alcohol and carbs, and have gone from 11st 2 to 10st 8lb - woohoo! I guess it's mostly water or something but I'm taking it anyway!

JustABigBearAlan · 03/01/2016 13:38

sound that's brilliant! Is that weight loss really just after 7 days, or did you start your diet earlier?

I started on the 1st Jan and so far, so good. I'm feeling really motivated at the moment, just hope I can maintain it. I've cut out all junk - choc, sweets, biscuits etc and am doing 10,000 steps a day challenge, plus trying to run 3x a week.

I went out for a march round the block last night to make up enough steps! Weigh in on Friday - doubt it will be anywhere near as good as yours, but would like to lose 2lb a week if poss.

soundsystem · 04/01/2016 10:41

Thanks Justabigbear. That is just after the 7 days, I started my diet the day after Boxing Day - before that it was lots of cheese and chocolate! I always find the first half stone pretty easy, the next half a stone will take me a lot longer I think. Well done on cutting out all the snacks - that's my downfall as well. How's the running going? I really want to like running, but I just find it so boring.

After having DD in december 2014 I lost a little bit of weight last year but nowhere near enough. I need to lose about 20kg really but 10would definitely get me to a healthier more manageable weight.

I am aiming to stop snacking(have been awful over Christmas) and only having one or two alcoholic drinks each week(another thing that has escalated over Christmas), going to stop drinking so much squash and drink more water, stop drinking so much tea and have herbal and stop drinking coke full stop. No more crisps, chocolate as a small treat(not boxes of maltesers each day) and much more veg with a meal so I fill myself up with good carbs not bad ones. Less bread, chips, no takeaways, no going out for lunch. And much more exercise. Need to walk to town and not drive which will save parking money too.
I've started to make an effort with my hair and skincare regime since Christmas and am hoping to feel better about myself by march/April. Good luck everyone!

First weight in today and I've lost 2lb. Would have liked it to be a little more, but seeing as my goal was 2lb a week I'm probably just being silly.

How's everyone else doing?

I started low carbing and going to the gym in early Dec. Took two weeks off over Christmas and New Year but didn't go crazy.

I've lost 4kg (9lbs) and have started to fall in love with the gym! Never thought that would happen.

Still got a way to go. Initially want to get down to 65kg (10st 2) and then see how I look. I'm 5ft 9 so could go down to max 60kg (9st 4) but I have huge boobs so don't want to look top heavy.

DFIL turns 60 in May and there is talk of a big family holiday, so I want to look good for then!

Well done bear and squadgoals. My next weigh in is on Sunday and I'll be surprised if I've lost any. First week back at work has involved lots of eating Blush.
