Does anyone want to join me in 3 healthy meals a day and no snacking plan?

I'm an overweight grazer and feel like I've lost my way totally.
I eat far too much and hardly remember what feeling hungry feels like.
I'm not going to be strict about what I eat - just normal sensible meals with vegetables. If I eat out then I'll make a healthy choice.
Anyone fancy it?

Hi 500.

I'm up for this. Are we allowed to snack on fresh fruit?

Your idea is SO simple, that I'm wondering why I haven't thought of it myself...years ago! I'm programmed to be on a diet, I don't want to be on a diet anymore.

3 healthy meals a day is the way forward!

Start tomorrow, then?

Do you do much exercise? Are you going to increase your activity levels?

Yes I'm in. Simple idea...but very difficult I'd imagine, I can't go long without eating something!
Breakfast to lunch will be fine, from then on will be tricky
Let's do this [fist pump] !!

Yes me! I still need to lose baby weight, but the baby is definitely a toddler rather than a baby, so I can't keep using it as an excuse. I know that snacking is my downfall. I have a really sweet tooth and eat too much chocolate, cake etc.

I think I'm going to try no snacks at all. I'm quite good at following rules, but rubbish at moderation Blush So when I say I'm going to eat less chocolate it doesn't work, whereas if I cut it out completely I do better.

However I'm not sure I can cut out all sugar, so I'm thinking I could still have fruit, an occasional pudding etc as long as it's part of a meal.

I think it will also be better for my teeth. I used to have great teeth, never needed any filings (inspite of all the sugar) Since having the dc I've had several filings Sad

So yes, just 3 meals a day!

I'm also doing C25k. Did first 2 weeks a few weeks ago, but have been v busy recently and lapsed. Am going to get back to it now!

I started doing this a month ago but have lapsed in the last couple of weeks. I lost a few pounds and want to start doing it again. I think it is a great plan and sustainable. Frequent snacking, even if healthy, reinforces the idea that you can eat whenever you want and so food is always on your mind. Most of us, unless pregnant or with other health problems, don't really need to snack most of the time, we just do it out of habit and because we want to.

Great to see others who want to try this approach Smile
I'm going to try no snacking at all as I agree with Mickeymoose - it will lead to me grazing again.
I want to look forward to meals because I'm hungry not because everyone else is having dinner so I may as well too. Even though I don't usually need to eat meals due to snacking too often.
Id like to increase my activity. I've just started running (or slow jogging rather!) a couple of times a week.
I think it's fine to end a meal with some fruit or a dessert like a yoghurt.
In theory, you could eat 3 meals of around 500cals each a day, do a bit of exercise and lose weight!

How's everyone getting on today?
I've had my breakfast and lunch (toast and marmite for breakfast and veg sausages, beans, grapes and yoghurt for lunch)
I've been for a long walk and won't eat now til dinner.

Hi, can I join? I really need to lose a couple of stones.

Ive recently bought a nutriblast so am trying to replace at least one meal a day with a blast.

So breakfast today was a blast. Half filled the cup with spinach, then half a banana, some raspberries, a few strawberries, added water and a little almond milk and a few oats.

Just had an omelette with a small amount of cheese for lunch. And a pear.

Done a three mile walk this morning and am about to go for a ten mile bike ride. Mainly because it's pizza night tonight which isn't very good. But I am only going to have half the pizza!

I'm doing OK so far, but really hungry now! I had breakfast biscuits this morning ( not ideal, I know), a jacket potato and cheese for lunch, and am about to have veg curry, mushroom rice and naan for dinner.

Wow viva. A 10 mile bike ride is impressive. I love cycling but I feel like I'm too fat and unfit to be seen on a bike at the moment.
I did stick to my 3 meal plan yesterday but think I ate a bit too much at dinner.
I'm going to stick to it today too. I find it easier if i delay breakfast til about 10. Then lunch is at about 1-2 and then it's just the afternoon to get through. Green tea has been helping me.

Yes, I've not had breakfast yet either. Had quite a big dinner too. I'm not worrying too much about that at the moment. For me, cutting out sugary snacks is definitely going to be helpful.

Feeling hungry, but motivated! We're off to a wedding in 5 weeks, and I really want to have lost some weight by then. I'm using this to motivate me. How much do you reckon I could lose by then?

Well if you stick to a calorie limit and reduce carbs (especially bread) you can do 10lbs, I think.
I'll join you in a 5 week 10lb challenge!

No snacking yesterday so that went to well.

Have come away for a weeks holiday today.mstarted off well with a spinach and fruit blast for breakfast. Had the other half of the pizza in the road for lunch. Making amends with chicken breast and a lentil and beetroot and goats cheese salad for dinner.

Will be away in the caravan all week now and eating out most meals so will have to see how it goes and just not snack and pick the healthy options where possible. We're in London so will end up walking lots!

500, you're on! 5 week 10lb challenge. (Although really I'd like to lose a stone)

We've been for a family bike ride this afternoon and I resisted the ice cream that everyone else had. Toast for breakfast and a tomato and rocket sandwich and apple for lunch. So, not exactly low carb(!) but at least no snacking.

Not sure I could low carb tbh. Starting with low sugar feels like a positive change at least.

Viva, it sounds like you're doing quite a lot of exercise so I'm sure the camping trip won't have to mean an end to healthy eating. Have fun!

10lbs loss is probably a dress size which is a very good incentive.

500, you shouldn't feel like you're too fat to go on a bike. I'm a size 18, verging on a size 20 and I even put on Lycra and go cycling. Don't give a shit if I look a prat. Grin

I do love cycling and cycled over 1000 miles last year. I've been slacking a bit lately so need to get back to it!

Sorry I didn't mean to suggest low carb. Just to reduce carbs so you're not having platefuls of pasta or 4 slices of bread a day. Easily done by 2 slices of toast for breakfast then a sandwich for lunch.
I can't do low carb at all but can have half the plate of pasta and double the veg etc
I did ok today but was very hungry when I had Indian takeaway for dinner with family this evening and think I ate a lot Blush. Well at least I've discovered again how nice it is to yummy food when you're properly hungry. It's actually very motivating.

Hi, can I join you? Snacking is totally my downfall. Especially sugary snacks & lattes. I've also got a wedding to go to in June & would love to be able to fit into my dress properly without the need for Spanx. I'm about to start Couch to 5k too.

Hi flap you sound just like me!
I feel really motivated at the moment - although deprived of chocolate! I'm glad there's a few of us, I find it really helpful to have virtual support.

I skipped breakfast today which was probably a mistake.

Had a crossiant mid morning. Lunch was a ham and mushroom omelette with salad.

Just had another m&s beetroot and lentil salad for dinner. followed by four Maryland cookies which is naughty. On a positive ive walked over 16,000 steps today.

meerschweinchen · 24/05/2015 19:44

16,000 steps is fantastic Viva.

I've had toast for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch. About to have veg fajitas for dinner. Am hungry now and looking forward to a nice meal. I'm finding the not snacking is getting a bit easier, but still miss chocolate.

flapinko · 24/05/2015 19:51

I've had a yoghurt/fruit & peanut butter toast for breakfast, lots of naughty canapés & shepherds pie with veg for lunch, and then a big slice of birthday cake for tea (family birthday so couldn't really say no!). Gonna give dinner a miss as a result. Well done everyone else on your snack-free days.

I'm finding the not snacking easy during the day because I'm so busy.

Which proves to me when I snack at home it's boredom rather than hunger.

Yes, Viva I'm the same. In fact I think for me it's habit that makes me snack.

So determined to lose weight this time though. I know it's still such early days but it seems such a simple yet effective idea. I hate with a passion calorie counting and other marketed diets(and some of them don't even sound that healthy to me). Yet I do like to have some 'rules' to follow so no snacking is perfect.

Hi, how's everyone doing?

I've had a good day. No snacking.

Bagel with Philly cheese for breakfast.
Pizza express Legerra pizza for lunch. So under 500 calories.
Yet another m&s lentil and beetroot salad for dinner.

Having a few carrot sticks now.

Went and tried on some clothes in John Lewis today and was far too depressed to buy anything. Just reminds me of why I need to do this!

I've gone a bit off plan as I've had guests staying for a couple of days and meal times haven't been regular or at home. I had a great time and they've left now so I can get back to a routine now.
I've realised how vital organisation and routine is for me if I'm trying to stick to a healthy eating plan. Things can go wrong for me so easily and I'm so weak when people put temptation in my way!
I did go for a run yesterday morning though.
