Hey, in Feb 2013 i weighed 17 stone and through healthy eating and exercise I got down to 11 stone in January 2014. My lowest weight was 9stone 6 in January this year but since then, I had a car crash and lost all motivation to go to the gym and generally started eating crap and since then I've gone back up to 11 stone :(

I gutted because it took me a whole year before to get from 11 stone into the 9's and I'm so angry at myself for putting it back on.

I know i can do it because i did it before, but im seriously lacking motivation. I am running 10k on sunday and have been training for this but i have slacked with my normal gym routine.

Please somebody give me a kick up the bum and any ideas to shed this extra stone are greatly welcomed. i feel so bulky now that i know what its like to weigh 9 and a half stone and i need to get back to that asap!!

what exercises are the best? i want to take up swimming and cycyling as i think going to the gym every night gets boring, and i want to continue running

thank you xxxx

Please don't panic, it will come off more quickly this time as it's recently gained weight! Just turn it around now before it goes too far. I'm speaking from experience Smile and totally know what you mean about 11 feeling bulky after being 9 something. It's all relative.. 11 to me now would be great. You've done so well! Good luck for your run, wish I could run more than 10 metres Wink

I was thinking about starting a maintenance thread, in some way keeping the weight off is harder than losing it.

I find what helps me is weighing in every single morning. When I'm cutting I lose a little bit every morning and find that incredibly motivating - stops me pigging out on a massive meal which I know will lay heavy in the morning.

Well done on your weight loss, that's amazing. You know you can do it, because you have achieved something most people couldn't.

You do need to focus more on your diet to lose it again rather than exercise.

Exercise can help as it burns calories and it can suppress the appetite but it doesn't tune as many calories as most of us think. I run 37 miles a week which equates to little more than 3500 calories or 1lb weight loss. Plus my appetite is increased on the days I don't run and I eat some back! Hence I've gained 7 lbs in the last year or so.

I'm focusing on my diet now, really cutting back on my sugar and after a few tricky days, I'm not craving crap as much. Long way to go but my trousers are a little less tight.

Good luck with your 10k.

That is so inspiring! Well done you! I lost 3st last yr doing WW and a bit more exercise - put a bit more than half a stone back on after being a bit lazy and self-indulgent, now TTC DC3 which is motivating me to lose again. Also my body just feels much happier when I eat proper food not sugary crap.

Have you tried the 30 Day Shred? 20ish mins of hardcoreness a day but you can really feel the difference in your body. Her system is 3mins strength training, 2 mins cardio, 1 min abs repeated but with diff moves - I do like it as it is over before you know it. Might be worth a try?

But even if you are heavier than you'd like, what a massive achievement!

that's fantastic. I went from 16 to 10.5 but am now back up to 12. but that is still 4st less than I was. I no longer worry about having a heart attack. my risk of diabetes is much lower. my joint pain has gone. and ultimately I know if I eat less I can lose weight, whereas before I was stuck in the "it doesn't work" cycle.
you have done amazingly. all the reasons you did it still apply. how tall are you? are you even overweight any more even at 11st ? being a hell of a lot lighter than you were is doing wonders for your health even if you'd still like to lose a bit ,ore for your own self esteem.
