T25 - I have abs now, actual abs! And it's only 25 minutes a day.

I've seen the add for T25 and it scares me!

I do Jillian sometimes (will do Ripped in 30 or Six Week Six Pack for example) but only for the duration of that programme and then I always, always go back to Davina. Jillian's great but I like Davina. Ideally, I do both as Jillian is too cardio lite and I know if I do Jillian and Davina back to back, I'm burning enough calories/sweating enough.

Try them out on You Tube and see what you think. It might depend on which you find least annoying tbh. Grin

Jillian s collection with shred, metabolism boost, no more trouble zones and 6 week 6 pack is £8.99 on Amazon today, its the deal of the day. I have 2 of them but still tempted

The Jillian thing on Amazon, is that 'the 30 day shred' that everyone always says about?
I'm temped.. Could you link me the offer? I'm inept at Amazon!!

Glen, thank you for the Amazon tip.
Already got one of them but that is too big a bargain to miss Grin

Davinia's Power of Three worked wonders on me.

Showy · 05/01/2015 16:02

I have all of Davina's except the most recent 7 minute one. The more recent ones are better as she is fitter/stronger and they are more challenging.

Body Revolution is Jillian's but if you go with her, as a beginner, I'd do 30 Day Shred or Six Week Six Pack. Manageable and effective.

I have to go with Davina too! I still have a really old one of hers and it still does the trick! Do it every evening and you will definitely see a change, it's what helped me shred the stones :)

Curious to try another one though!

Have just ordered a davina dvd after reading this thread, fit in 15 (£4.50). www.amazon.co.uk/Davina-Fit-15-DVD-McCall/dp/B00F37VHRA/ref=pd_cp_d_h__0?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

My favourite Jillian dvd is the shred one as I don't like long work outs.

Showy do I have this right - you follow up a jillian dvd with a davina one in the same workout session. How is that possible Shock
{faints}

Personally I really like the Fitness Blender workouts on youtube. They are much more cardio focussed, all different durations (so you can pick the most convenient) and they are FREEEEEE.

And it gives you a calories burn...chart (?) on one side of the screen as you go along.

They are brilliant.

I wouldn't go with any of the "faddy" xmas DVD's! I would personally go with Jillian Michaels, Davina or Shaun T (Insanity etc)

Report
yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 10:57

Saranmolly have you done insanity? Dp has convinced me to go with shaun t25 as he thinks the outlay will ensure I don't give up. Bit nervous as pack is supposed to arrive today.

yumy I have Insanity. To be 100% honest, it is not something I would recommend to beginners, but it's brilliant to work up to.

Even when I could run an hour straight on the treadmill with lots of sprints, I would still end up collapsing in a sweaty heap before the end of an insanity workout!!

Jesus, the people they have in the background doing the workout clearly struggle and have to take breaks, and they are spinning instructors, marathon runners, etc.

My personal view is that it is too hard, and too daunting for a beginner. If you struggle at all with level 2 of the 30 day shred, then don't go near Insanity with a barge pole.

HOWEVER, that said, there are lots of people who do start with insanity, but just have to take it really slowly to begin with. Slowly, lots of breaks, push yourself, but not so hard that you start feeling ill.

This is all about the insanity workouts though, which are 40 minutes long, progressing to 60 minutes. I haven't tried the T25. My understanding is that they try and cram in a workout into a shorter time frame, so will probably do lots of very high intensity interval stuff, or moves which burn a shit ton of calories, like vertical jumps and tuck jumps. And everyone's favourite - burpees.

yumyumpoppycat yes I have. :)
T25 is great, you will be nervous but once you start it becomes addictive. Shaun T will make sure you don't give up... it's fun! Enjoy!

kaykayred my friend who had only ever swam before has just completed her first insanity round and loved it. She found days hard BUT it's so motivational she carried on. She is now doing T25 plus other extra exercise per day so I don't think it's impossible :)

Report
yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 13:28

Thanks both - looks like I made the right choice with T25 over insanity. Shaun sounding quite motivating was another reason for buying it actually.

Ok so its def going to be a challenge! At least I can tell dp that its not just me, even pros find it hard... fingers crossed! Will def take it slow at first.
