Need to lose weight before ttc no2!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 02/01/2015 00:56

I thought I'd start a thread as it's likely there are others in the same position.

Gave one DD who is 2.3. Would like to have another child at some point in the non too distant future but firstly I really need to lose weight, as

  1. I'm far too heavy at the moment and my knees and feet have started to ache with the strain etc. I really don't think I'd cope physically being pregnant at this size
  2. I have PCOS and the erratic periods that go with it. Weight loss supposedly helps with this (no personal experience to date)
My plan at the moment is to be sensible - more home cooked meals with plenty of fruit and veg, and less processed crap! I really don't eat well, especially lately (I work evening shifts, and we moved house 3 weeks ago - I h Ave been grabbing what i can, when I can!)

I shall technically be starting on Monday, as I will be spending some of this weekend meal planning. But as of first thing in the morning I shall be starting on 3 meals a day instead of constant grazing!

Hi coldfeet - I'll join you! I've just signed up to slimming world online to try and shift a couple of stone before ttc.

I lost my little boy in 2013 after he was born prematurely and the weight has piled on since then. My head is now in the right place for us to try again but I want to get my body back in shape before we start.

Let's keep each other motivated!!

Hi Kerry - so sorry to hear about your little boy. But glad to hear that you are now in the right place to look after yourself again.

I haven't signed up to anything, but I have got a couple of slimming world magazines here. Am going to try out some of the recipes. I really need to try and up my fruit and veg intake, to try and get healthy. I seem to get every cold and bug going at the moment, and I am sure its because I don't look after myself properly!

I will log on to here at least once a day to check in etc. Will be nice to have a little support/motivation Smile

Thanks coldfeet, I'll share any helpful tips and recipes with you . I've only signed up for the online thing, I can't deal with the group meetings. I've done it before with the meetings and lose interest too quickly. I'm determined this time though.

My biggest weakness is portion size, eyes bigger than my belly but I hate to waste so eat waaay too much!! I had a last night of freedom tonight and stuffed my face on crap - not sure that's the best way to approach it but clean slate tomorrow!!Grin

I am going to look through recipes this week and put together at least 2 weeks worth of meals. I have just persuaded DH to try the Caribbean Pepperpot Stew that is featuring on slimming world website as recipe of the week. I can't really do meetings either. Logistically its a pain as I work most evenings and saturday mornings. I could go a weekday morning, but would have 2yr old DD with me, and she wouldn't stay still for meeting. Plus I haven't found them useful in the past when I went to WW.

My big problem is not having proper meals, and then having too much crap / sandwiches etc.

Welcome takestwototango - I'm not planning to come off pill until at least June, but then I have a lot more than 2 stone to lose!! I am also still the same weight I was full term with DD!

Can I join to? I'm ttc no2, have raging PCOS and at least 4 St to lose.
Currently doing slimming world EE plan and have lost close to 2st.
I can't do another pregnancy at the size I was last time, I felt and looked like a walking shed.

Well done for losing 2st so far koala!!

I haven't weighed yet to see what damage christmas/moving house has done, but I think I need to lose a good 6 st. That still won't put me in the healthy BMI bracket Sad, but should get me close. I need to lose about 3st to get to my starting weight when I fell pregnant with DD, but I would like to weigh less this time. I was huge by 15 weeks. Thankfully I had a desk job and didn't have to move too much, with the exception of going to the loo, but this time I would have a rather speedy toddler to run around after!!

Thanks ladies, I'm still 8 St away from the 'perfect' bmi (pffht) but another 2st will make me thè lightest I've been on at least 6 yrs! I had terrible pnd with DC and it's only been the past 2 yrs that I've felt ready to start ttc again. I gained a lot during pregnancy and afterward which made me feel even worse so I'm back o the SW band wagon to give myself the best chance.

Welcome TakesTwo and Koalas!! After my face stuffing last night I've started as I mean to go on today and gone for poached egg and mushrooms on toast for late brekky / lunch.

It's wet and miserable here today so comfort food is in order for later. Tonight is cubed butternut squash and chopped up new potatoes chucked in a roasting pan with fry light. Roast for half an hour then add some chopped up low syn sausages and a couple of cloves of garlic. Back in the oven until the sausages are cooked. Serve on a bed of wilted spinach with a poached egg on top. Feels really naughty but is flaming gorgeous and free apart from the sausages!

What's on your menus tonight? X

Ooh Kerry that sounds delicious! I'm not starting properly until Monday but tonight's dinner was not too bad - pork in the slow cookers with stock, carrots, onions, celery, leek, mushrooms, garlic and bay leaves served with new potatoes and steamed cauli. I'm not doing a set programme, but just trying to cut out the enormous amount of junk I've been comfort eating, plus increase veggies and making lower fat/sugar choices. The idea is to combine this with exercise (I'm better at adding that in than reducing food if I'm honest) but it's going to be a massive shift in eating patterns and behaviour for me this time...

I started off well yesterday and then I went to a party had onion rings, chicken nuggets, sausage rolls, the lot! Feel really grotty today for it though.
Doing meal planning today to get myself back on track, always feel that more positive when I know what I'm having Smile

Can I join, I was about 15 stone when I got pregnant with ds who's 17 months and didn't really put on that much, however after having him I got an illness that made me nearly house bound all the time, so have managed to put on about 3 stone so need to shift at least that first.
I also moved house 2 weeks a go and have just been eating Christmas chocs and rubbish.
I'm swapping plate size and taking my time when I'm eating and actually thinking about what I put in my mouth.
Going to weigh myself as soon as I find the box my scales are in, but took a photo of myself in pants and bra as a deterrent whenever I want to stuff myself with rubbish.
Good luck to everyone. Grin

Sorry me again, I stupidly started smoking again when ds was 2 months and only stopped 3 months a go, so fitness will be easier now as well.

welcome yellow - I have recently moved too! So my food over the last few weeks has been worse than normal!

One of the things I need to do is to stop eating if I am not enjoying it! I need to take the time to enjoy my food instead of just shovelling in what is convenient when I have the time!

Going to do a bit of food planning in bed tonight. I did pick up a couple of WW meals for emergencies today.

Thanks, I'm building furniture and recording the hairy bikers for inspiration as well. Will watch when the baby is napping tomorrow.
Building furniture and running up and down the stairs all the time should surely be doing me good and distracting me from shoving food in my mouth. Grin

I watched some of the hairy dieters tonight too. DH and I watched it when it was first on, and bought their first 2 dieters cookbooks. Yet to make anything from them though.

We have moved from a ground floor flat to a "normal" house with stairs. All the stairs have shown me so far is how unfit I am! I rushed up the stairs earlier on when DD was crying and I was out of breath at the top!

Hi yellow and welcome.

Well it's day 1 for me today. Woke up feeling inspired but my mood has taken a bit of a battering since getting dressed to go back to work. I've clearly put on a lot since I last wore these clothes two weeks ago. I'm trying to take inspiration from the constant reminder that I need to lose, but I'm just feeling uncomfortable and fat Sad

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 05/01/2015 09:14

Morning takes two. May I suggest drinking tons of water? If you last wore these clothes just 2 weeks ago it might be a lot of bloating due to salt in junk food etc. If not, drinking water won't do you any harm

Can I suggest a flex fitbit? It's a gadget you wear round your wrist which tells you how many steps you do I a day and how many calories you have used. My DH gave me one for Christmas. I am aiming for 10000 steps a day. It has encouraged me to go for a walk most days, and if I can't manage that doing star jumps in the garage.
You can also record all food you eat and it tells you how many calories you have consumed, this part of it isn't as accurate.
I have found it a great motivator and encourage me to walk quicker, and also watch what I eat.
Good luck ladies

Thank cold feet, I will drink lots of water. I'd live to think its just bloating but I suspect it's not. Still, nothing I can do about it now, I just have to start from where I am and do what I can. I just read an uplifting comment on another thread: you aren't fat, you just have fat, and fat can be lost Smile

Hi there to all, I've moved from ground floor to a house with stairs as well, so feeling the unfitness while up and down stairs carrying stuff.
Day 1 started well, banana and water, going to just eat when I'm hungry which seems such a sensible idea but harder in practice. And be careful what I'm cooking and portion size, still haven't found my scales. Will definitely hunt them out today, only have 1 room full of boxes so surely shouldn't be that difficult.

Hope the unpacking is going well yellow. Right, I'm off to the gym, but going to have to take it very easy for a few weeks at least!
