This is going to be the year I finally lose weight

Donthackmenow · 31/12/2014 09:13

My youngest child is 2 and I'm not having anymore so I need to sort myself out. I am 5ft 4 and weigh 11st 9lbs (I was 11 st 2 at the beginning of December). I want to be 9st 4lbs but would be happy to be in the healthy BMI range so anything below 10st 6lbs.
I have discovered fitness blender on YouTube/Facebook so plan on trying to do one of their videos 5 days a week. Food wise I need to cut the crap so no biscuits/crisps/chocolate . I will try to eat tea with the children, normally we put them to bed and then eat afterwards which means we are not eating until 8pm and then I won't exercise.
I'm envisaging
Breakfast - overnight oats or omelette cupcakes
Lunch - ham/chicken salad, soup or omelette
Dinner - chicken/fish with veg
I will try not to snack but if I do then I will snack on carrot sticks/rice cakes and houmous.
I know I need to up my water intake and reduce the wine so will be doing dry January.
My husband wants to get healthy too which makes me hopeful that this will be the year it happens!
Anybody else want to join me?

I will join you! I'm also 5' 4" but weigh way more than you do, Donthackmenow. I haven't hopped (hah!) in the scales yet but I'll be happily surprised if I'm less than 20 stone. Woe.

I do best on a lower-carb diet, so I am giving the Hemsley + Hemsley book a go. I've just made their buckwheat porridge for a late breakfast (really doesn't help that I've woken up with a cough and cold) and I'm trying to wade through the rest of the book between sneezing and wheezing. Not planning to start properly until the beginning of term, but it doesn't hurt to try out a few healthy meals and figure out healthy packed lunches for DH!

I will join too if that's ok. 5' 2" over 12 stone & ashamed. Haven't got a plan on how yet though.

So tonight didn't go according to plan. I was definitely in the mindset of need the crap food out of the house before tomorrow but possible should have put it in the bin rather than eating a box of chocolates and a large bag of Thai sweet chilli crisps alongside my tea (steak and vegetables, yum!) and the bottle of champagne that I consumed single handedly ConfusedBlush. Feel disgustingly fat now, oh well, onwards and upwards.
Nice to meet you all, let's do this. No need to feel ashamed or scared, we are going to be awesome and skinny!! Think how great we will feel this time next year...

I'm definitely up for this I'm 5 4/5 and at a guess id say 12st 8 which is a stone heavier than a few months ago.

If possible a stone to one and a half is the target by April time. I need some serious motivation from you guys tho!!

Yay, more people! holidays we can do this. I was 11st 10 this morning and I want to get rid of the 10 by the end of the month. Feeling proud of myself so far have been to the supermarket and not bought any chocolate or crisps (not even a secret bag to eat on the way home). I had salad, cous cous and quorn burgers for lunch and have just had some cashews as I'm still hungry. Tea will be prawns with stir fry veg. How is everyone else doing?

chipping I have read the diet trap but I don't know if I would be able to give up carbs forever and I worry that I would just put all the weight back on once I reintroduced them. I think my plan is to reduce carbs and not eat them in the evening. I think my focus is going to be 'clean eating' and trying to sort out portion size Blush. I think my stomach has forgotten how to rumble as I am always filling it with food, and I get dreadful wind so hopefully eating better will help rectify this!!

Me too, I'm in. My youngest has just turned 2, I can't use that as an excuse any more! Tried 5:2 before xmas, but have doubtless put on the 7lb I lost through gorging over xmas! I am 5ft4, and somewhere between 12 and 12.5 stone. To get near 10 would be ideal- my plan is calorie counting ((my fitness pal) and getting up early to do 30 min shred before the boys wake up... I am so sick of being sick of the way I look! I am an intelligent woman (honestly!) and I need to start listening to my brain rather than my stomach and get out of my lazy habits.... Help!!

Hi zing and apple. We all sound like we are in the same boat with a similar amount to lose. We can definitely do this.
I have a lovely moleskin notebook that I am going to use as a food diary. Better make sure I write the pack of frazzles down that I have just eaten. I figure one sma bag of carbs isn't bad considering I am feeling rough Smile.

Does your 2 year old sleep apple? Mine is an early waker so I don't think I could get up half an hour earlier than him! I am going to try and do my exercise at 7.30 once they are in bed.

ha! the 3 Munchketeers!Grin Grin Grin

oh I'm so doing this.

little bit about me - 7 kids here aged 13 years to 5.5 months.
we moved in May, then I had PGP for reminder of pg so became very inactive.
after BabyZing was born I had 2 gallstone attacks (2nd was horrible), then 2 months ago I had surgery to remove the gallbladder.
my weight went down- up- down and pain for weeks & months pre & post pg prevented me from exercising. now that I feel almost fully recovered and tough 2014 is behind me i feel ready for a change.
I'm motivated and it is very necessary for me to get healthier and in good shape.

phew, that was cathartic!

Can I join? I have 4 kids, the youngest being 5 months. I'm 5ft 2 and around 11st 4lb (I'll weigh myself properly tomorrow morning). I'm already 1.5 stone lighter than when I fell pregnant but I still have just under 2.5 stone to go - I want to get back to 9 stone and a size 10. I go back to work in feb too so need to lose as much as possible before I go back to fit into my old work clothes...

Zing dd is also a July baby, she was born on the 20th. I have one Ds (my eldest) and 3 dd's. I put all my weight on between dd's 2 and 3 so I need to lose it now otherwise I fear it will stay on forever!!

So many children, I'm in awe Grin. I have a dd who is 5 this month and a little boy who was 2 in December. They are great, I would have loved more but my sensible head says stop as we never have any money already!
Hi Kim, I want to be around 9 st and a size 10 again too. I have just discovered a pizza in the freezer and I want it. I have been trying to ignore the hangover all day and have been pretty good but am desperate for carbs. I think I will be disappointed in myself if I cave in but the bloody pizza is calling me Angry

First fast day today. It's so hard I feel so hungry which makes me short tempered. I think it would be ok if I wasn't having to cook and watch the boys eat treats.

Report
ZingTheGreat · 01/01/2015 18:22

I had a massive bowl of chicken soup for late lunch, it was just the right thing.
now I feel like a biscuit (or 4) but going for an apple.

I've been thinking about how to drink just water, as cold water hurts my teeth so I always end up with sugary tea or coffee. i like fruit teas but again prefer them sweet.

I think I need a completely different habit, so I'll try warm/hot water with lemon juice or orange slices & sprigs of mint.
I'll report back
