Sad

Help, my dress has arrived and is too small (by about 1 dress size I think)
I knew I had put on weight since ordering it - I had a cycling accident which put pay to any exercise for a good while. But now the dress is here and doesn't fit im despondent and panicking, unfortunately the dress cant be altered due to the fabric its made from so I need to do something fast.

HELP!!

That's a good stretch of time, two pounds a week .

You should try to reduce by focusing on food over exercise. The key thing is to remember that you would have to walk fir three hours to lose the calories in a Mars bar , but it is easy not to eat it. Less food is the way to go, especially in a hurry.

Could you get a corset/basque to wear under it? I had a similar problem as I hadn't been able to lose all the baby weight and tone up from 4 month old ds. I got an all-in-one corset/bra and it took about half an inch to an inch off.

A friend had hypnotherapy to help her lose weight and started losing 1lb per week. It was about £130 but has been worth it for her and she hasn't felt like she's changed anything but its working.

Get on the low carb threads.

Or if that's not your thing, Slimming World is great - you get to eat lots and tend to have big weight losses in the first weeks. One dress size isn't too much. You can just buy the magazine if you don't want to join.

Have you tried it on with spanx/similar hold you in type of underwear?

Its going to be hard work, but you can do it. I'd do 4:3 (ie, 3 fast days a week of 500 cal, and 4 days eating 1500 cals) and do some good exercise on the 'normal' eating day, plus planks or some other core exercises on the fast days to tone up your middle.

Maybe book an inchloss body wrap as well as a quick reduction in the days before as well?

Calculate the calories you need to eat/ lots of sites do it. Then stick to that eg 1200. Lots of veg. Then lots more.

Or join slimming world for a bit

I don't see how eating as much pasta as you like can help you lose any weight?

I lost nearly 4 stone eating rice, pasta and spuds with Slimming World! The first 2 stone I lost in a couple of months too.

well ive ordered the spanx to try. I think im opting for calorie counting and following the paleo style of eating so no processed rubbish and no grains (which do make me bloated) Although im not giving up my milky coffee but will try to limit it to a couple of mugs instead of the 8 or 9 I currently drink.

I have my notebook and pencil to hand to help me keep track of anything going in. The children go back to school Monday so I will plan to do some sort of exercise every day from then.

MyFitnessPal is your friend. Log your current weight, what you want to get down to and it will tell you how many calories you can eat. If you are scrupulously honest, you'll get there. Or you could do a VLC diet (ie meal replacement) which would guarantee you'll shift the weight but it's not for the faint-hearted

Well done op. Paleo is one of the best ways of eating and you will do well on it

Cut the carbs. I can lose a dress size in a week if I lose the carbs but you have to be very strict. Chicken salad/ stir frys or omelettes every day for a couple of weeks. You will be fine x

...or just eat a normal, varied diet, but a bit less of it.

paleo eating is a normal, varied diet! No one needs sugar to live. It is not a food group.

fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch and chicken or fish and veg for dinner. i lost a stone in six weeks by sticking to that.

essentially it's cutting out carbs and replacing them with veg.

You can do this! One dress size is about 1 stone- losing 2 lbs a week you'll fit comfortably into the dress. I've tried all sorts of diets- low carb, low cal, WW, 5:2 and they all work if you do them properly. Just make sure you eat fewer calories than you expend and you'll be fine. To lost 2 lbs you'll be looking at sticking at an average of 1200 cals per day, plus exercise. It'll be easier to do this if you cut out booze, sugar and refined carbs BUT you could still lose weight living off cheesy Wotsits and Sauvignon blanc if the calories are low enough!
Good luck on your big day. I'm sure you'll look fabulous!
