Hi after having a baby I've got that extra weight that just won't shift and have decided enough is enough. I've heard people talking about juice plus so fancy trying it but I love food. Thoughts???

juice plus seems a bit pyramid selling-like to me

Just use MFP to track yourself. It costs nothing.

Anything involving meal subs tends to be on the faddy side and unsustainable in the long term.

I lost lots of weight by using WW. I would stress however, that I used it as a control measure to teach myself portions (etc) and actually incorporated other changes. Broadly, I followed paleo with the odd treat thrown in.

And exercise. I do an army fitness class twice a week, but began at my biggest with running (felt less self conscious out on my own!).

Hi I use juice plus and I love it. I had my 3rd baby 8weeks ago and managed to get to almost pre-baby weight after 3 weeks on the shakes. I wasn't convinced before I tried it but best thing I ever did I have so much energy. I still let myself have the odd treat. If you wanted anymore info let me know be happy to help :) good luck by the way with what ever way you choose

If you message me on her I can give you more info and my email adress to chat if you want. It's always nice chatting to other people doing it. There's also a Facebook support group which is great. Good luck :) :)

I did Juice Plus and I would not recommend it. You substitute two meals with a shake and then have one meal at tea time.

It's extremely restricting. You can't have anything processed, at all. You can eat it if it's been grown or killed basically, with the odd exception (oatcakes for example).

No gluten, dairy, sugar, wheat or caffine. Confused I hated it and found myself constantly feeling guilty if I had something 'bad'.

But each to their own.

I'm now doing Slimming World, which I find loads better.

I can each as much of free food as I want, all day and night if I wanted, and still have 'treats' that I can syn.

Weight Watchers I didn't like. I found it quite restricting in that once you have used up your points, you can't have anything else to eat.

Sounds like you were doing a very extreme detox version. I believe you can make it work for you depending on what you want out of it. I haven't cut out caffeine just lowered the amount. They advise a healthy 600cal 3rd meal but to be honest if I want to go over the 600cal I do. I feel by doing it the way I am the weight will stay off. If you take it to extreme you will give up sooner in my eyes. I really do enjoy it the way that I do it and still see the results I want.
I did try slimming world a few years back and I did think it was a really good way to lose weight and so many people do so well on it but I love juice plus and my family can benefit too :)

no offence to people doing JP but it just screams pyramid scheme to me, 2 weeks after you sign up you're recruited to sell and gated more people Confused

Problem with things like juice plus is it's not sustainable long term, are you going to spend the rest of your life having meal substitutes?

Much better to go for a slower but sustainable healthy balanced diet with exercise

I have done SW and found it was great until I got within a stone of my target but because it isn't good at teaching portion control I lost faith in it.

Am at WW now and it is great, have lost half a stone in a month and feel it is a good long-term solution. Juices don't address the over eating and sedentary lifestyle that made me overweight - I feel as though I am making a long term change to my life this way.

I've found combining Myfitnesspal with the principles of low GI works really well. That and small portions. All diets work for a bit because they restrict calories. What you actually want is to change your lifestyle so you can sustain the weightloss.

Anything based on juicing/shakes is bollocks; juice just acts as a quick delivery system for sugar. They're about to remove juice as one of the five a day because its as bad for you as fizzy pop.

I would avoid juice plus. The whole diet just seems like a money making scheme. My friend spent loads of money on the products and lost weight but who wouldn't lose weight substituting proper meals for liquid? Then they were phoning her a short time later asking her to become a rep which she is doing now. Seems like a fad to me.

I would really try and think about what diet would be right for you. Some people need healthier food, portion control, less carbs etc.

I am a big fan of SW but that's mainly because it suits me as I can eat enough to satisfy me.

Tried WW and lost weight. The pointing got very boring and it wasn't teaching me not to eat junk.

Low carbing has also been great in the past but it does take dedication as I found lunches hard etc.

Good luck

Juice plus isn't a diet its a lifestyle change you re-train your body to clean eat and you don't always have the shakes by the end of your 12week program you would be off the shakes and eating 3 healthy meals. I do juice plus and i feel amazing (not on it at the moment having baby number 3), and you do not get asked to sign up to be a rep after you have joined at all. I lost 18lb in just under 5 weeks and i have still managed to keep that off! If anyone ever wants more info don't hesitate to message me i'm more then happy to help you lovely people out :) x x

I like SW as there's so many free foods, it does tell you to stop eating when satisfied and don't overdo it purely because the food is free.

I lost two and a half stone before but put it back on when I met DP and had dc2. I should of stuck to it but just got in a bad habits of eating again. I blame dp

I've tried SW and WW in the past. Didn't like WW as I got bored of the points. SW was much better and did teach me about healthy eating and cooking from scratch although it doesn't teach portion control. I got down to within a few pounds of my target weight with SW but once I went on my own I v e gradually put weight back on.

I honestly believe that any kind of diet won't work long term. You need to start on a lifestyle change. I've been eating healthy a n d exercising for 5 weeks and my mind set is completely changing and I'm much more in tune with my body and how it reacts to food. If I want chocolate or a glass of wine then I have it but I find I don't crave it as much.

Good luck.OP

I am not a rep and I was extremely sceptical about it, but a friend is and she started me off for free on the shakes. So I will be honest. I didn't do the detox, like a lot of posters on here I thought - sod that, cutting out all that food will lose weight anyway. But for me (and I know others might be in a different situation) it works really well. I had a stone to lose, but what I needed was more energy as I am pretty much a single mum of 3 littlies working full time. So I went straight into the shakes program (easier for me to do than the endless skipping meals I was doing) and within days I could see my eye bags reducing and my skin looking better, and less bloated.

I am not doing it hard core, as in I am sticking to the food plan and shakes, but I haven't cut out alcohol or coffee and I have one day off a week to eat as I please, and I am a stone lighter in 6 weeks.

It works for me. But I am not everyone and I am not trying to sell it - I have refused point blank to become a rep for it. I have enough on my plate as it is, but I have to say, I took every short cut there was and it is taking a lot less mental effort than WW or SW, and I look and feel better

I recently lost just over a stone on ww (bmi just under 25 to 22.5). With simple start/ healthy and filling days it gives you the option of either points counting or following a similar programme to sw. I did it online.

I have been doing Juice Plus since November last year, and really see it as a changed lifestyle. I used to use food as a release from my emotions and binged when I felt upset or low, this in turn created a downward cycle of eating rubbish then feeling ugly, unfit and fat. Now since being on the shakes and chewable vitamins I have more energy, therefore taking part in more exercise and fitness and have lost 13 pounds. I really feel great and people are complementing me. My skin has cleared up of spots and I am in a positive mood about the future !!!
