Weight watchers or slimming world?

Just that, really.

I've lost weight successfully with slimming world in the past, but never reached target and then gained it all back during pregnancy. I know it works, but I did get fed up of feeling restricted in my choices of healthy extras etc. I've never done weight watchers but gather it's just counting points, with no restrictions on choice so long as you stay within your points limit - is that right? Which have people found works better /is easier to stick to long term? I have around 3 stone to lose to get to pre-baby weight, and ideally another 1.5 stone beyond that, and so I'm going to need to think long term. I know from past experience that I stay on track better if I'm in a group.

Also, do you know what the general feeling is about toddlers at meetings? DS is 14 months so too old to sit and play quietly with toys in his pram, but too young to entertain himself for long without getting into mischief. Don't want to be the one disrupting the meeting!

Hi Spaniel. I don't think there is a huge difference between them as they have both changed their plans and are now very similar. However, I always find SW much more friendly - don't know why as they both follow same format. Both are fine with children/toddlers. Overall I think SW is slightly better as they don't push products like WW and I think you can eat more without having to count points.

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for the reply, that's really helpful. I'd heard WW had changed their plan, but there was no info in the website to say what the new plan involved - I didn't realise it was similar to SW now. Also I've just discovered that you can continue SW while pregnant, but not WW, which may have swung it as we're hoping to ttc DC2 next year.

Slimming world is great long term, nothing is banned & you never have to be hungry.

I'm just home from my group & there were 3 little ones there. One about 3/4 months & 2 toddlers.

generally as long as common sense is exercised, ie: stopping them shouting, running about & disrupting class, members & consultants will welcome children into class ??
