Post pregnancy weight loss - when to start

Ds2 is 9 days old and I want to start thinking about getting it shape again.still bleeding and back hurts so nothing too strenuous, but ideally I want to lose 2stone and rebuild my core.

Any tips how and when to start?

Don't do anything more than walking (and even then not too much) until your bleeding has completely stopped - otherwise it'll go heavier again!

I dropped a stone having DS, and another stone in the next month/6 weeks without trying. Are you breastfeeding? This will encourage your womb to shrink and bleeding to stop.

Once you have stopped bleeding try to get out walking with the pram or sling every day. After 6 weeks you can start structured exercise again - postnatal exercise classes or DVDs are good as they ease you back into things and focus on core strength. Don't push yourself too hard though - your body still has excess relaxin so more chance of injury following pregnancy than you normally would have.

Thank you rock I am bfing and still bleeding although the leedng is minimal now.

My stomach looks so saggy and flabby, and I feel so huge.

What can I do to get my core strength back? How about yoga/Pilates classes once a week after 6 weeks?

After DS I did exercise DVDs initially (DH works shifts so difficult to get to classes regularly) started with a postnatal Pilates 3 times a week, then started doing a ballet conditioning workout once a week.

Little things can make a big difference though - try to sort your posture out and engage your core throughout the day as that will start to pull things back together.

Don't do sit-ups or any of that type of exercise as it can actually separate the tummy muscles further and prevent you getting a flatter tummy!

I started 9 weeks post section just because I was overwhelmed by my new born and was consumed with bf.
I just felt utterly exhausted until then.

Now my boy is 7.5 months and I've lost 20Lbs. Still got 2 stone to go as I gained 4 stones during the pregnancy.

Feel SO much better already.

I gained 4 stone in pregnancy and started when ds was just 5 days, though all I did was walking and eating healthily. When he was 8 weeks I started running. He is now 14 weeks and I have shifted 3 stone. BF the whole time as well which I think has helped.
