Hi all!! (waves!)

Cant believe our last thread filled up so quickly!

For those of you who don't know us, the 'Avoid the Quiche' Quiche is a group of people who all want to lose a substantial amount of weight (no coming on here complaining about the half a stone you desperately need to lose, thanks very much!) We all have different personal goals and reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether it be for a special holiday coming up, to aid fertility or to be healthier. This thread is a place to share your highs and lows, talk to like minded people, get encouragement and offer support to others when they need it!

Official weigh in day is Wednesday- Slimmer of the week will get a virtual bunch of flowers, woohoo!! Flowers

I personally am aiming to lose 6 stone. It wont be easy but i've got a great bunch of ladies behind me keeping me focused and for that i'm very grateful! Smile

Checking in!

Can't believe we only had 2 weigh ins on the old thread!

welcome to any newcomers to this thread!

I have lost 2 stone, got between 2 and 4 more to lose. Dropped from a size 18/20 to a 14/16 already and want to get into a size 12 before next may.

Yay a nice new thread.

I aim to lose 4lb by the time this thread is filled (which given the speed the last one filled up will be about 2 to 3 weeks)

Welcome to the newcomers and anyone else who would like to join.

I am using MFP to calorie count (anyone is welcome to add me miawallace32). I have lost 6lb in the first 2 weeks and I'm hoping for a loss on Wednesday.

Had a few slip ups but the lovely ladies on this thread keep me trying. I love this thread because we not only discuss the superficial stuff like nice clothes and new haircuts but we also understand and share the psychological issues which have got us here in the first place.

Forgot to include my daily inspiration

  • After spending the weekend on the beach my inspiration is to be wearing shorts and vests when we go back next summer rather than jogging bottoms and t-shirt!

Yay new thread!! Grin

My weight gain (and now loss journey) started on the 22nd May 2010 which was my wedding day! I stood on the scales and weighed in at 11st9, the heaviest I had ever been. I was very confused but put it down to coming off the pill and was awaiting my first cycle Hmm so thought I must be coming on, plus boobs had doubled in size! 10 days later we got back off honeymoon and discovered I was indeed 8 weeks pregnant (to this day my naivety surprises me!). I piled on 4 stone with DS1 and lost 2 stone afterwards. 1.5 years later I fell pregnant with DS2 and ballooned another 3.5 stone. DS2 was born on the 3rd June this year. On the 7th June I stood on the scales for the first time in about a year and thought now or never! I weighed 16 stone. I have currently lost 35lbs based on last weigh in and aim for 2lbs per week. I want to lose 1.5 stone to be 'healthy' bmi again and 2 stone to get to perfect weight.

It sounds silly but one of main motivations for me is that I have the most amazing DH who is loving, supportive and perfect in my eyes. Though he has never put an ounce of pressure on me about weight and I know loves me whatever size I am, I want to be able to give him at least a few years of the confident wife he married, who was happy to wear beautiful clothes and didn't worry constantly about what others thought! I don't think I've allowed DH to see me completely naked in the light since our honeymoon!

Anyone still doing the squat challenge? I'm on day 15, have done 140 squats today, all in one go, something I never thought I'd be able to do when I started it. Half way through it and quite enjoying it.

Marking my place/saying hello. I get the feeling I have the most weight to lose here; about 10-11 stone. I have never been thin, I did my first diet aged 10. This WILL be the last one though! I started slimming world lastweek and will be weighing in for the first time on Wed .

LayMizzRarb · 26/08/2013 21:53

Lorelai - you are so not alone. I have lost 1 stone, but still have another 12 to go. Lets stick with it and do it for good?

I've steadily been putting weight on since ds3 was born 2.5 years ago. When he was 6 months old I lost ds4 at 20 weeks pregnant and piled the weight on. Ds5 was born 16 months later and by that point I was 15 stone.

I started sw 7 weeks ago weighing in at 14 stone 10 and im now down to 13.6. My friend is getting married on the 14th and id like to have lost at least 4lb by then.

this week im going to walk to the shop every day, even though its really hilly and takes forever with the toddler. Also, even if I have crappy nights with the baby or toddler I will suck it up and not use the tiredness as an excuse to stuff cake into my mouth Grin

Found you! Checking in on our sleek new thread.

I've been a bit slack over the long weekend, have not logged onto MFP at all but have tried to make healthy choices and have had no booze for 10 days nowShock

Aiming for a good day tomorrow before WI Weds.

I wonder how many small boys we can lose between us by the end of this thread! Love that analogy, Lego

Morning all. Lovely new thread :)

I had a lovely but not very healthy weekend, though I did resist a lot of bad food (really craved a mcdonalds breakfast yesterday but didn't give in!) and didn't eat as much rubbish as I would have if I wasn't dieting. Back on it 100% today. Going to the gym later for a 'last chance workout' before weighing in tomorrow.

My daily inspiration is a trivial one today. I want to be able to wear a ponytail all scraped back without a side fringe that I think makes my face look less round Hmm

DS weighs 15kg and my next target is to lose what he weighs! I have lost 12kg so far so another 3 to go (he better not put on too much weight in that time Grin)

Good morning all!

My period is due in the next few days and I have woken up wanting to eat everything in sight! Sad Does anyone else get like this? I really binge on food when at this time of the month. I know there is a packet of strawberry and white chocolate muffins in the cupboard and I'm desperately trying to forget about them...

YellowCanary- your DH sounds lovely. Mine hasn't seen me naked unless its dark for the past few years either. When I lose the weight I'm hoping I can relax a little in the bedroom department too, because being too fat is always in the back of my mind and I worry that my body will repulse him, which I know is silly as I know he loves me regardless of my shape!

Lorelai - according to boots scales I need to lose 9 stone, but if I lose the 6 I'm aiming for I will be happy!

Lets make it our aim to lose another small boy by the end of this thread! Weigh in tomorrow!

Morning all Grin

Henrietta- I completely sympathise, I'm exactly the same when I'm due on. Nightmare!!

Well, I'm back at it full-throttle today. Food choices over the b/h weekend were ok but I succumbed to quite a lot of booze one way or another Blush
I'm now on day 9 of the shred, I've done it everyday since it arrived! Quite proud of myself really!
Am thinking of moving up to level 2 after tomorrow- anyone got any experience of L2? I'm a bit scared Wink

Have a great day all.

Morning all. Weigh in tomorrow!

I think I need to lose about 6 stone to be in the healthy bmi. To be honest that is too daunting at the moment so my mini target is to lose 14 kilos from the start. Ovet the last 2 weeks I have lost 1.2 of those and hoping for more this week.

My daily inspiration is that I would like to be able to go horseriding with my daughter when she goes for the first time. I am too heavy right now and I figure I have about 18 months to lose enough to not feel like I would need a shire to hold me.

Now, Henrietta Why do you even have strawberry and white chocolate muffins in the cupboard?

There are certain foods yes you, freshly baked white bread that should just not be in the house. When resistance is low, it's too easy to grab junk if it's in the cupboard. If it's not in the house, you can't eat it, simples. My kids might moan that there's nothing nice to eat, but I don't want them to get in the habit of reaching for junk either. A slice of toast is a good enough snack.

Fill your fridge with hard boiled eggs, chopped up carrot, cucumber, peppers etc, hummus to dip them in, fruit in the fruit bowl. Reach for that if you need to do some mindless snacking.

OK, lecture over. Hope I haven't offended - but this is what we're here for, right? Smile

Yay, lovely new thread! YellowCanary I so know what you mean about the weight loss slowing down. A year ago I was losing three pounds most weeks, but it's down to just a pound a week now, and any slip-ups can mean no loss at all even if I've kept to plan for the rest of the time. The toughest time for me to stay motivated was a few weeks ago, when I was still nearly a stone away from my goal - luckily for me, Henrietta started this thread, which could well have saved me from probably not chucking the whole thing, but at least shifting to maintenance mode a stone early. Now I'm so close to my goal that it keeps me going, plus I've got used to only losing a pound a week and being pleased about it rather than disappointed it's not more.

Hello again Lorelai and good luck with SW and tomorrow's weigh-in. I did my first diet aged 9 and am also determined that this will be my last. Really, really determined. We can do it!
