I need to lose 3lb per week for six weeks - what's the best way?

Hi,

I've really had enough of the thunder thighs. Going on holiday mid August and I want to be back well under 10 stone.

Current weight: 11 stone
height 5' 4 (almost)

Thigh measurement is wider than my waist was for most of my adult life Blush.

So far plan is to eat loads and loads of veg as I love veg - raw stuff and soups to fill up on, and I know about lean proteins but I don't know if this will cause a weight loss of 3 lbs per week, and I've decided just once to actually be disciplined and go on a diet and lose the weight (not a yo-yo dieter at all. More a no-no dieter!)

Started to do some exercise recently so will keep that up.

If anyone has a weight loss plan they know can work for this rate of loss, i'd love to hear about it and if anyone else wants to join me in the battle to get back into a bikini - please do!

I just low carb and run! But clean eating might be a good plan for you?

Do you want to be target weight, or look slimmer?!

You might get better results by toning up. You can lose two inches off your waist in a month by doing daily core exercises, and have similar results on your thighs and bum.

Think planks, twists, side planks, squats and lunges. Buy a small weighted ball. Check YouTube for videos about technique. The Nike exercise app is great.

If you only think about your diet, you'll be smaller, but might still be flabby. Toning up will suck you in and reduce the wobble - much more attractive in a bikini IMO.

Thanks. Anything I want both. Definitely to be more toned. I took all my measurements last night and want them to have shrunk a lot within six weeks. Quite enjoy the shred, already go once a week to a fitness class where we do lots of squats, planks etc. Thanks for the inof on the Nike app - will take a look.
Soulsister I've just started running. Quite enjoy it, but need to do it more often.

Good - didn't mean to patronise! I hear so many women moaning about their food intake and their weight, but never think about doing any activity!

Good luck!

You weren't patronising at all, Anything. I enjoy exercise. Not as easy as it was when I was the right weight, but I still love that endorphin rush. I prefer cardio or strenuous yoga (like power yoga) to stuff that's deep but still - like Pilates. If there's no need a shower afterwards, it doesn't feel like a workout iyswim!

Do you lift weights? Honestly it's not as scary as it sounds. Think Body Pump, but maybe a bit heavier? You can combine weights with some high intensity interval training, and be out of the gym within the hour. Or you could do it at home after a run. Helped my get my fat bum into my wedding dress!

Did some weights today, Anything. DS1 is a fitness fanatic and made me do a serious work out in the garden (plank, press ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, weights, cardio etc.) I used 5kg dumbells for bicep curls and tricep lifts.

2 days so far of about 1200 cals per day, plus some exercise (not masses, need to up it.) If I increase exercise to one hour intense workout per day and stick with 1200 cals, will that be enough to drop 3 lbs a week?
