I am dieting and that is going well , I am doing a lot more exercise which I am weirdly enjoying .
I need to lose two more stone. One stone down so far .

But I have got into a stupid habit of having a drink most nights , either a glass of wine , bottle of beer or a vodka and diet coke . I don't drink to get drunk , it is just a habit while cooking dinner . If I don't have one at the time I am cooking then I won't bother with it .

Does anyone else want to join me in keeping booze free Mon _thurs ?

It just seems daft to be undoing all my good work when I am trying so hard with everything else .

I'm going to try and give it up completely. I have been doing so well but a hangover yesterday meant a shit day foodwise.

I can't diet and drink. And dieting wins!

I am not going to say completely , because I know if we are doing something special then I will have a couple . I just need it to stop being an every day thing .

Good luck with it , we can rant together

Oh by completely I mean unless there is a special occasion Wink

I won't find it too hard to begin with as I seem to be on hangover day 2, that's cheap plonk for you!

Once I have recovered I will be ranting too...

Have to try to be extra good until weigh in on Wednesday. Damage limitation!

Good luck to you too, once you put your mind to it, it won't be so hard

Thank you , and Phew for the not completely .

I could just kick myself for doing all the gym nonsense and the good food stuff and then drinking beer and eating crisps and buggering it up .

I suppose I would have done that before but without the gym and healthy food so not all lost .

This week will be my first four days in a row without booze for a long time . That is actually a scary thought

I'm in. I've been drinking far too much recently. Yesterday I completely overdid it, was awake until 3.30am with palpitations and ended up vomiting. I'm 99% sure this is down to alcohol.

So, that's it. I'm taking control. I love nothing more than a few glasses of wine in an evening but it's got to stop. My skin looks old and I'm so tired. No alcohol Mon-Thurs at all and if I do drink at weekends then I will somehow find a way not to binge. I might start insisting we go out at the weekend and I drive so I don't get tempted to have any. I'm actually going to use the NHS drinks tracker to try to stay well below the weekly recommendations.

We can do this!

Hi
I need to do this too. All my dieting goes to pot if I drink during the week. . Tuesday night s are an issue as I meet up with a friend whilst the boys are at scours with their dad. I suppose I could always have a spritzer.

Glad to see we have one more joining in . I know in rl I have quite a few friends that feel the same . It is just a daft habit that we have got into , so shouldn't be too hard to get out off , should it ? ....

I gave up smoking in Oct and if I can do that then this should be a piece of piss :)

Ooops two more :) even better .

Could you do sun and Mon and wed and thurs instead ? For me it is making it an occasion thing rather than a thing that I do without even thinking about it .

I'm in too. I'm TTC atm and sort of saying to myself "I'll be pregnant soon so I'll stop then" but I really need to get healthy so I'm going to stop today. Fact.

Can I join?
I have started using MFP and doing really well food wise, but come the evening and I habitually pour a glass of wine! So Sun to Thurs is my aim, and not too much on a Friday and Saturday.

Hello all

chips we're hoping to TTC this year and ideally I'd love to be out of the habit of almost needing a glass of wine in the evenings so it's not such a shock when I do have to stop Grin

Good luck with the TTC chips

Anyone got any recs for nice soft drinks? I can recommend Aldi's sparkling water with Elderflower. It's so refreshing.

Hi, I have been cutting out the regular glass or two of wine at home for the last week or two. I have to say I'm not finding it easy and like you I always crave a glass around kids bedtime/whilst cooking. But I have stopped keeping white wine in the fridge, if its not cold I don't want it. Somehow opening a bottle of red (the reds never seem to have screw tops) feels like much more of an event and I know it won't get finished in one night, which means I will drink again the next night or end up chucking it away....once I sit down to eat I'm usually over the feeling of wanting it. Still drink when I go out for a meal though and also have a beer with takeaway curry (not the same without is it?)

I just keep lots of sparkling water and limes in my fridge now and seem to get through quite a lot of it!

Thanks Hazel you too :)

I actually quite like Becks alcohol free lager, especially as a shandy. Or my favourite soft drink is fresh orange and lemonade, and Schloer grape juice is a decent wine alternative, sort of.

I quite like the fizzy flavoured waters with a load of ice , also just having a cup of tea or maybe a low cal hot chocolate .

Palpatations hazel ? That sounds scary , what were you drinking ? The only time I have had that is when I drank too much vodka and diet coke , I assumed it was the caffiene .

Welcome all :)

Now I just have to wait a week and hope it makes the difference on weigh in day .

Almost 8.00 pm , this is the difficult hour. Kids will be in bed soon and I will be able to relax , I will really crave a drink . I won't give into tonight , because I am trying to diet / low carb as well . Will have a cup of peach flavoured green tea after ,y bath. hoping that does the trick.

I am ok by this time . It is between six and seven that I normally grab a drink without even thinking about it . I just poured a fizzy water instead and I feel happy that I have done it .

You will be fine coribells , and it is bound to make a difference with the weight too which is a bonus .

Travelling I was drinking wine. I did have a bottle and half of it Blush I get them everytime I have alcohol, even if it's just one G&T.

How did we all get on yesterday? I coped fine, mainly because I still felt like shit. I tend to fancy a drink when I get home from work, so between 5 and 6. Once 6pm has come and gone, I'm generally fine & don't even think about having a drink.

I was ok too , If I can get the cooking done and any chats on the phone done without a drink then I am fine the rest of the night . Long may this last .

That is a bit odd hazel if you get it after even one , must be a bit scary .

I hope everyone else is doing ok .

Well done hazel , I can't really get my head around the fact that when I have done four days with no booze that it will be the first time in years that has happened .

Sad really , I am having a really shitty day today with work and normally that would be an automatic reason to have a couple tonight . Hot choc will have to do instead .

Sorry you're having a shitty day. It's so easy to reach for the wine on days like that. I think it's about breaking the habit so when you get home, do your routine differently - go for a shower before setting foot near the fridge, etc. I'm doing that - I used to come home and open the wine and put the TV on for some downtime, but now I'm having a shower, making lunch, etc before settling down on the sofa. By this time, I'm happy with a soft drink.

Hope the afternoon improves x

Thanks , good idea about the shower and changing the routine . That's all it is really , if I don't have a drink when cooking then I don't bother . Just need the new routine of a soft drink and cooking to get set .

I am finished now so off to get children and do some ironing ( ironing is definitely not my normal routine ;))
