I've done slimming world before and after ds It be worked. But this time after dd I'm struggling. It doesn't seem to fit with is any more. And it relies a lot of "low fat" substitutes which seem full of sweeteners and other crap.

I know a few people doing the fasting thing and it is working. Do I need to get a book, and if so which one?

The rules of 5:2 are simple:

  • Fast 2 non-consecutive days a week.

  • Fast days - consume no more than 500 cals (women), 600 cals (men). If you are interested mainlyin weighloss then those fast day cals can be spread out across the day; if you are also interested in the health benefits then try and leave a long gap between fast day meals (many aim to fast 24 hours then eat their 500 cals in a single meal - usually dinner).

  • Non-fast days - eat normally (but normal does not = overeat). If you're fine with counting calories then work out your TDEE (max calories needed to maintain current weight; Google TDEE calculator) and do not exceed it.

But there's loads of science around fasting and the book by Dr Michael Moseley & Mimi Spencer is excellent for this. The Fast Diet.

i agree with BsshBossh

Not following 5:2 but have the book by Michael Moseley and Mimi Spencer and its sooooo interesting. Plus if you can find the original Horizon documentary online somewhere i'd fully recommend that as well.

It's a quick read and well worth it IMO.
