Anyone else feeling nauseous on 5:2?

I'm hoping its not just me! I have finally found a diet I can do, but I seem to spend a lot of time feeling queasy! Is this a normal side effect? Will it pass?

How much water and other liquids are you drinking each day? What are you eating on fast days?

2 75cl bottles of water/squash and a couple of cups of tea. I know hydration is really important.

A small portion of a normal meal, or a WW ready meal of the right calorie content.

I wonder if your normal meal/ww meal is part of the problem. I find on fast days I have to pretty much avoid carbs, as they aren't satisfying and I feel sick when my stomach is empty.

I'd maybe try eating much bigger portions of salad/stirfry without oil (you can eat a heck of a lot of veg for not many calories)

Also, it might be worth trying Rennie or similar - I found at the beginning that stomach acid made me feel queasy, but as my body acclimatised, it passed.

The daft thing is that I feel fine on the fast days. I'm quite enjoying the hunger pangs, it's almost like an achievement, and they are getting less each time I fast. I have no problem making it to tea time, and i end up full enough. It's more that I feel queasy on the non fasting days! Confused

Oh sorry, I misunderstood and thought you meant on fast days..

I wonder if that's a hint of a food intolerance, which is becoming more obvious as you fast and so your system "recovers" from the food - do you have any other symptoms - tummy pain, constipation or diarrhoea? Does it happen when you eat specific foods, or anything? Is it related to anything - i.e. does it come on right after eating, when you're between meals, anything like that?

Have you ever had problems with indigestion? Long before I started fasting, I had problems with nausea, queasiness, sickness, indigestion, and it turned out to be h.pylori - a lot of hardcore antibiotics later and I felt a lot better!

i have found that i'm more intolerant of crap food. i struggle to eat as much choc / sweet stuff and just feel put off by it. i gravitate towards vegetarian food which, if you know me, is the most shocking thing ever.

not saying this is what's happening with you, just that i've found the food i used to eat now makes me feel sick.

I've been tested negative for H Pylori in the past. I just don't know. I'm not giving up though. This is a diet I can stick to!

I had that! I used to feel queasy on the morning of non-fast days. Then I discovered I was pregnant!!

I'm joking, I did feel queasy but it was before I even conceived! It only started about 7 weeks after starting 5:2 as well.

Pregnant is the other option. I've done several tests to no avail. This thread was exploring the other likely reasons!

A few people I know have had it, and no chance of them being preggers.

It might be your body reacting to the changes in blood sugar, particularly if you don't eat particularly healthily or usually eat a high GI diet.
