Tummy bug while low-carbing - what can I eat?

I've been low-carb high-fat for several months, and feeling very good on it, but now I've got a tummy bug (just the D, no V, but plenty of nausea). Normally I'd BRAT, but obviously that's all high carb. So, what can I eat?

What about some natural yoghurt? If it's got a probiotic in it as well it might help your tummy. Just go easy in terms of quantity - little and often, I would suggest. Or a piece of wholemeal toast - it won't impact on you too badly if you've been LCHF for several months.

And make sure you're not dehydrated. You may also need to take some Dioralyte (or equivalent) to make sure that your electrolyte balance is OK. (It might have sugar in it, but I wouldn't worry too much about that at this point)

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Is it OK to eat dairy with a tummy bug? I thought you had to avoid dairy with any bowel illness.

Wheat makes me bloat badly (avoiding it is no doubt one of the reasons why I feel good on low-carb) - would a bit of oat porridge be OK? I really don't want to go through the horrible couple of weeks of getting used to ketosis again!

You shouldn't have to, if you've been low carbing for that long.

Yoghurt is better tolerated than other dairy. But that's also why I said little and often! Just in case.
