Here we are, thread 4 .
Time for me to have a large kick up the arse and lose weight! (After Easter!)
Oh god...with new batteries I am up to 10 st 5lbs.
Okay turn around time!
Sorry I have not been on line - working and having a social life getting in the way! I too have had a rough week what with work and a friend very very poorly, I have realised this week that I too am a bit of a comfort eater - and here was me thinking that while my DH was away it would be easier to follow my healthier eating! Ha how wrong could I be!!! I ate all the right foods at mealtimes but it was all the wrong foods in the evenings (Oh and the alcohol!)! For some strange reason I have had major cravings for ready salted tortilla chips. So much so I was like a woman possessed until I ate some and then when I had had a few I needed more and more! So I was actually really dreading my weigh in this week and very nearly didn't go especially as it was tipping it down with rain, I had no coat or cardigan and I was only wearing sandals. But I had strong words with myself and went and I am so pleased I did - I have put on (which I knew I had) but I expected about 1/2kgs but thankfully it was only 0.4kg. I came out so happy and since Saturday have been really really good, so I am hoping for a decent weight loss. Touch wood.......
Thanks Johnny -I went to see my GP about my knee, he is trying me on some new medication, and if no netter in a month then he will write to my consultant. So far the medication has taken the very edge off the pain but it is still there and by about 10.30am I am really hobbling around! Not good when you are working in a very busy classroom!!
Johnny - I look forward to getting that buzz when getting dressed in the morning as at the moment I hate clothes shopping and choosing clothes every morning is almost torture!
Ice - Don't be disheartened, think of where you were last year. I am "well jell" So wish this could be me and hopefully this time next year it will be.
What I don't understand is with me that sometimes my brain does not work with my mouth/hand/stomach. My brain can be saying "no way don't eat that" etc..... but for some strange alien reason my hand/mouth/stomach ignore my brain! It is getting better I must admit, I know its down to will power, but by gum is it hard!
I have done some baking this weekend and made a lovely teabread and biscotti. I have been v good at only having 1 piece a day.
Onwards and upwards, lets hope this is a better week for losing weight
Ice 10 st 5 is still nearly 3 1/2 stone less than a year ago and so still pretty amazing. This is hard but you can do it again.
Arty, glad you're back on track. Sorry you've had a crap time and I hope your friend is getting better. Tell me about evenings! I ate really well today, wasn't hungry yet I still had to have chocolate just now. I do try to clean my teeth after dinner to stop me eating more and it does usually help. I'm also potty training dd2. She didn't want reward charts or stickers so she gets a chocolate button for each successful potty visit. She eats about 7 a day and I eat a large packet and a half! I feel really bad about using chocolate as a reward but dd2 is skinny as a rake so I'm desperately hoping not to give her all the unhealthy food habits I had.
Wonder if humancatapult is on holiday yet. Arty, human lost 10 stone last year and her motivation was she didn't want to have a seatbelt extender on the holiday she was having this month.
I have ordered the second hairy dieters cookbook for only £5.99 from the book people as I am currently living on jacket potatoes, soup, salad and omelettes and a bit bored.
I have bought the second hairy dieters cook book this weekend - although not as good a price as you got (half price in WHSmiths) hence all the cooking this weekend. I have just had some delicious home made yellow split pea and ham soup. I made a big pan up on Sunday evening and froze it - defrosted great and have just demolished a portion - it was really yummy! I also made the ratatouille for tea on Saturday and froze 3 portions of that too! I made the home made burgers from the other hairy dieters and whilst the family had crap/unhealthy food I sat there feeling very virtuous with my home made burger (no roll or cheese) and ratatouille instead of chips.
Tonight we have have the Spanish chicken (bk1) - this has become my children's favourite meal. We did try the spicy pork dish (bk2) on Tuesday tea and although plates were all, family all said that it was okay but would be happy to have it occasionally and it was as it said in the title spicy! I am going to attempt the curries one day - I do miss my chicken korma/tikka dishes!

Hello all, hope you had a good weekend. Ours was relaxing as dds are knackered at the moment.
I don't think I've stopped eating since thurs night so I'll be surprised if I haven't put a couple of pounds on. I had a busy few days, eating out every day and making poor choices. I'm just wondering if I can have a 500 cal fast tomorrow. I know I have an aubergine in the fridge, might google low cal aubergine recipes.
Can't wait for hairy bikers book to come. I need some inspiration.
Up 4 lbs! Shocked. So fast day coming up. It's not just about reduced calories but I need a kickstrt. Need to be disciplined and remember it is ok to be a little hungry.
Today was my first intentional fast day (I once did a 500 cal day when I realised at 3 that I'd been too busy to eat so may as well fast).
After overindulging for 4 days I thought my stomach would be used to overeating and today would be really hard. In fact it was the reverse. I didn't really start to feel hungry until about 3 and as I was griddling aubergine to make a salad for dinner I ate about half an aubergine.
So I have eaten aubergine, mint and feta salad, a tuna fillet, a mixed salad (leaves, carrots, cucumber, peppers) and then some blueberries with a small amount of yogurt. This all adds up to 400 calories so I can have a banana later.
Best of all I had no crap or chocolate. I don't think I'll do another 500 cals day but I am hoping I've ended my spell of overeating
will hide from you if I go back to the chocolate buttons tomorrow.
Hi Johnny, shame about the 4lb but at least you know why, I really hate it when you think/know you have been good and you still put on. I have had a pretty good week, couldn't get to my weigh in this afternoon so I will have to wait till next Monday. Your tea sounds rather delicious, I love aubergine.
It was my DD2 16th birthday today, so party food all round for tea - thought I would really crave the cheese as normally that is my down fall, but I only had 3 small cubes and that was enough!! I did make up with other party food though! Not everyday your daughter turns 16! Poor love had a really nasty fall at school and badly grazed her elbow, knee, shoulder and hip - not a great way to celebrate your birthday!
I will be back on track tomorrow, really pleased with myself that it was only tea I was a little naughty, before I started my healthy eating in June if I knew I had a party or such like I didn't care what I ate for the day as I knew it was not great and so easily that day would turn into 2,3 and so on. This time my mind seems to be set - long may it continue.
I do have a busy weekend this weekend - up to London both Saturday and Sunday, Saturday should be okay as we are taking a picnic lunch and probably home for tea but Sunday I promised to take DD2 and DD3 to see Matilda for DD2 birthday treat and she wants to go to McDonalds for lunch - hmmm..... lets see how much will power I have and order a salad.
hmmm down to 10 st 2....still struggling with binge eating every time I speak to my mother....

Icb well done on 10 st 2. I'm sorry you're still binge eating when you talk to your mum. Could you find another outlet for that feeling (I'm not sure if it's sadness, anger, both)? Running, shredding, getting a punchbag? Munching on carrots or blueberries? Obviously I would be crap at following my own advice, I suppose I have a lot more long baths in the evening, with a book or face pack, when a year ago I would've been eating.
I realised my reason for the large weight gain must be due to my period starting yesterday and not just my excessive food consumption at the weekend. Feeling much better as 4lbs seemed such a lot to put on, so I hope to lose it all quite quickly.
Hairy bikers book came yesterday. I am very excited about some of the spicy food but there isn't much that dds would eat. It's difficult to cook as dd2 is dropping her afternoon nap and I used to use that time to chop things up and prepare so it's frustrating that I probably won't get to try it til the weekend.
hmmm maybe I could try going for a run...that never happened this summer...the whole getting fit thing.
I haven't got fit either. Maybe I need to get my shred DVD out. I haven't managed to complete it once yet. If dds go to bed on time I might try it tonight before dh comes home.
Just thought I would share - Have had a great day today, 2 people at work at separate times asked me if I had lost weight. One woman was amazed when I had told her how much and wanted to know how long I had been losing weight for and what was I eating. I feel absolutely thrilled to bits people are noticing. This could not have come at a better time as I have been struck down with a sinus infection and on triple antibiotics for it!
Tonight's tea was absolutely delicious - I made it from The Hairy Dieters cookbook - Chicken and Ham Tangle Pie and Ratatouille. Yum!!
I also made curried butternut squash and apple soup for my lunch tomorrow.

Yum that sounds amazing. I have been craving curries ever since my hb book got delivered but just not had the time to make one. Must not buy takeaway, must not buy takeaway <repeat until I believe it>
It is nice when people start to notice you've lost weight, although I'm usually too embarrassed to tell them how much I've lost. A few people have said I should stop but I still don't feel quite finished. I know I really need to exercise more
at all to tone up but I hate exercising so much and don't have a decent sports bra.
I've had a good week, loads of healthy stuff to eat, I'll be very annoyed if I don't lose weight.
Found time to do a midweek weigh and I'm down 4.6lbs since Monday! I guess it was a combination of period and crap eating that accounted for the big gain. Anyway I'm only 2 lbs away from my 133lbs target, but I expect it'll go up again after the weekend!
Well done! I have got a really busy weekend this weekend but I am going to try really hard to keep plodding on. I am so desperate for Monday to come as I want to know how much I have lost! Another person noticed today!

Well, I've had an unusually good weekend so far (but I still have another 12 hours with which to undo all the good work!)
I'm eating well despite being really knackered which is usually when I would eat sweet rubbish like cakes and chocolates. dd2 doesn't seem to sleep which is why I'm so tired. Once she's asleep she'll manage 10 hours so I'm lucky that she's not one of these toddlers who wakes 3 or 4 times a night, it's just knackering when you try to put her down at 7 or 8 and she decides to run around the house until 10!
arty, I'm not sure if I've asked you this before (apologies if I have) but do you have a wardrobe of smaller sized clothes that you can fit into? I think people really notice when you start wearing smaller clothes that show off your figure more.
Johnny - no I don't have a wardrobe of smaller clothes, I have been the bigger size for quite some time. I may have to have a look round a few charity shops to get a few items as I really don't want to buy too much just yet. I wore a pair of my old trousers today and they drown me.
I have had a fab weekend, food wise and socialising! I am so pleased with myself - 2 trips to McDonalds (rarely go to this place so twice in 1 weekend is unheard of). Yesterday I sat and watched everyone eat whilst I had a mango and pineapple iced smoothie (they are 190 calories so high for a drink but a lot less than a meal) then when I got home 90mins later I had a mushroom omelette and salad. Then today as I had already promised DD2 a McDonalds for tea after seeing Matilda, I knew I wouldn't be able to wait till we got home at 9.30 so I investigated and had a meal that cost me 280 calories. I didn't realise that was possible until today! 6 chicken nuggets and a side salad and a bottle of water. You can actually see my halo gleaming! Oh and I took a pack up lunch today and yesterday. I was also very good at not having an ice cream at the theatre today either.
I have tried so hard these last 2 weeks to lose weight, I am now fretting that I haven't. I am still taking ABs, am hoping that they don't hold too many calories - have another week of them, at least the sinus infection seems to have cleared up. Oh well, will know about 3.15 tomorrow afternoon. If I haven't lost weight, I may just have an ice cream tomorrow night as I am at the theatre again (Off to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert) - I am not normally such a social butterfly, this is my social life for the year!!!

Good news here! I have lost just over 2kg in the last 2 wks, am so pleased. I have fretted all day. This now takes my total to 12kg! Hope everyone else has had a good weigh in.
That's amazing, that's nearly 2 stone! Brilliant, no wonder people are noticing, you're trousers must be falling down! And well done for being restrained in McDonald's. Fortunately we don't really have one here so dds can't drag me in there.
I'm frustrated because I'm back to 136.5 so whereas I'm 3.5 lbs less than last Monday, I weighed a lb less on Friday. I should only do one weigh in a week, i would've been delighted to have lost that much in a week if I hadn't weighed on Friday! Anyway I shouldn't complain, I read an article today about diabetes and how to be a low risk and I have done as much as I can to reduce the risk. There has been diabetes and heart problems in my family so it's something I've always been worried about.
Well dds home with vomiting bug and they gave it to me. I'm down to my lowest weight ever but I could've done without two days of vomiting and headaches!
Oh no Johnny - my worst nightmare!!!! Hope you are starting to feel a bit better. I absolutely dread this time of year especially as DH goes away a lot.
I am feeling much better thanks. Struggling to eat which is not like me, so my mfp total for today is about 700 cals of mostly carbs. It was frustrating that dh has had to work Long hours and as we don't have any relatives nearby I had to look after the kids and suffer. They don't watch much tv so had two days in front of cbeebies which they loved.
Anyway i felt well enough to go shopping and to my delight I
squeezed fitted into a size 8 skirt! It is white stuff which is terrible for vanity sizing but I am going to pretend I am really a size 8! It's also mid thigh length so very short for me. Of course there's every possibility I won't fit into Monday when my body is full of food again!
