Anyone got a Fitbit?

Anyone got a Fitbit? I found a Fitbit group for Mumsnet, but it's looking a bit empty! It's called "Mumsnet Fitbit"

Here's the link - www.fitbit.com/group/22CZ24

It would be great to have a group of people to "compete" against.

Wow 25,000 steps in a day. My best is 15,000, but only had mine a week. Aiming to get one day with 20,000 and 50 flights this week.

15,000 is really good, my 25,000 was a bit of a one-off! My daily target is 11,000 and I've done that every day since early jan except 2!

I find it really motivating , especially when I can see one if my friends a few 100 ahead of me I will always do some extra steps to catch up - competitive or what Grin !

HI, I've just joined. Think I'm going to have to get a few more steps under my belt so I don't embarrass myself...My daily total is set at 10,000 but I don't always make it. Blush

I have one and love it. Just did my first 1000000 week. I have a friend with one as well and I get very competitive! My daily goal is set at 10000 and I do have to put a lot of effort into getting that but I love getting more like this week.

Wiifitmama - did you get carried away with the zeros? You didn't really do 1million steps in a week, did you??? I'd be impressed with 100,000! [buwink]

I was super impressed when I thought it was 1,000,000, until I calculated the daily average as 142,000 and realised it must have been a typo. Still, something to aim for . . . Grin

I am not sure a million would be possible even if you walked all day!

On a more serious note, the fitbit is the best piece if equipment I have ever bought for fitness (and I have bought many!) I lost over 100 pounds, reaching goal weight last summer. Maintaining has been hard as I developed IT band problems and couldn't run anymore. My weight was bouncing up and down without regular exercise. I never thought walking was "proper" exercise until I got the fitbit and started doing big distances. It has helped me lose the little gain and tone up better than anything else I have tried.

I was wondering how other people get their daily steps. For me, living fairly centrally in London with no car, I am building it into my day by getting on/off the tube 3 or 4 stops before I need to and walking the rest. One day I walked from the Barbican to Baker St! This only works when I haven't got the kids with me of course.

I was thinking of getting one of these for dp but know nothing about them - which model etc does everyone recommend? It would in his case be mainly for walking.

CorneliusMurphy, I have the Fitbit Flex, which I think is good enough if it's mainly for walking...it just tracks steps and sleep, it doesn't have a heart rate monitor, so it's one of the cheaper Fitbits to buy

It depends on which one you get. I gather the wristband type don't cope with prampushing. The clip on Zip or One will be fine.

Just joined. It was this thread that encouraged me to buy a FitBit and then forgot to join. Doh!

My steps look a bit pants for May as I had two inactive days at my Dad's house at the weekend.

I'm not in the same league ! I usually have two days a week > 10,000 but the rest around 7-8000. I obviously need to increase !!
